Russian Military Orders 6 Be-200 Amphibious Planes

user posted image

MOSCOW, May 24 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian Defense Ministry has signed a contract with the Beriev Aircraft Company for the purchase of six Beriev Be-200 amphibious planes, Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) said on Friday.

“The contract is worth 8.4 billion rubles [$268 million],” UAC said in a statement.

“The first two planes will be basic Be-200ChS models, while the following four will be the Be-200PS version without firefighting equipment,” the statement said.

It is the first purchase of Be-200 planes by the Russian military.

The Defense Ministry may order eight more planes in the future, according to UAC.

Be-200 is the world's largest multipurpose amphibious aircraft, designed for firefighting, search and rescue, maritime patrol, cargo and passenger transportation.

The plane can carry 12 tons of water or 7.5 tons of cargo, or up to 72 passengers.

At least five Be-200ChS firefighting planes are currently in service with the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Beriev Be-300 MP

Beriev is curently developing two versions of airplanes based on Be-200, a AEWAC possibly named Be-250 (with a side radar being developed by Vega), and a second one named Be-300 as Search and Rescue aircraft and an anti-submarive version called Be-300 MP, which will be equipped with the Kasatka system, being developed by JSC Radar MMS. It's a combination of a radar and a firing control system. This system is going to be installed also on the amphibious version of Be-200 MP.

The Kasatka system was presented for the first time during the aviation show Gidroaviasalon-2010, stating that it would be carried by airborn vehicles, including helicopters.

The Andrasta can lurk on the seabed in coastal waters where the water depth is typically less than 100m.

why APMM need subs? but that littoral subs are perfect to attack ports and harbors though..suddenly remembered Japanese mini-subs attacking Pearl Harbour in 1941..

Philippine slain soldiers in Sulu were on test mission

user posted image
The bodies of Philippine Marines killed during a clash with Abu Sayyaf bandits in Sulu are loaded into a military truck
for transport to Manila. At least seven soldiers and four bandits were killed.

ZAMBOANGA CITY—“We still haven’t learned our lessons,” retired Col. Ariel Querubin, a former superintendent of the
Philippine Marine Corps Training Center, said of the killings of seven Marines in a clash with Abu Sayyaf bandits in
Patikul, Sulu, on Saturday.

“They were on a test mission, these were students, they may be the best considering they were with the Recon
(reconnaissance team), they belonged to the Marines’ elite team but the doctrine of the Recon is basically just
to go out there to gather data and they are not there to engage their enemies,” Querubin said Sunday in a phone interview.

Around 20 soldiers on two teams of the Force Reconnaissance Battalion were sent to Tugas, a hilly jungle in
Patikul, for the purported test mission that led to the incident in which seven Abu Sayyaf bandits were also killed.

The soldiers, led by 2nd Lt. Alfredo Lorin VI, were on a mission to track down the kidnappers of Casilda Villarasa,
wife of Sgt. Faustino Villarasa.
Col. Jose Johriel Cenabre, commander of the 2nd Marine Brigade and head of Joint Task Force Sulu, said the
soldiers had a “chance meeting-encounter” with about 50 men in Tugas at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

But Senior Insp. Conrad William Gutierrez, chief of the Patikul police, said the soldiers were on their way to their
detachment when “they were ambushed.” Five Marines were killed on the spot and nine others were wounded, he said.

Cenabre, however, denied that what happened was an ambush, insisting that it was a chance encounter.
“Our troops were not able to reposition and retaliate because the engagement was within the civilian area, which is
adjacent to a mosque. The attackers took advantage of the civilians, thus making it more difficult for our troops to fire back,” he said.

Before sundown on Saturday, the Marine toll of lives had climbed to seven with the deaths of those wounded.
The fatalities included Lorin, 26, a 2011 graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, and Privates First Class
Rene Gare, Andres Bogwana, Jay Alasain, Jayson Durante, Roxas Pizarro and Dominador Sabijon Jr.
Wounded were Sgt. Noel Cornelio and Privates First Class Miguel Edwin Maluyo, Roel Aquino, Carlito Sabellita,
Cris An Bangalisan, Rajan Gadong, John Ywayan, Joemar Monte and Richard Gomez.

Abu Sayaf are hardcore jungle fighters..and maybe the insides PAF are compromised by Abu Sayaf spies..i think the failures of PAF is they did not win the hearts of people in Sulu or Southern Philippine..and what more, there is rumours that Abu Sayaf already gain influence over some Philippine top politicians..but hey, it takes ATM more than a decade to wipeout the commies even with people siding with us..give the PAF some time..
