Abu Sayaf are hardcore jungle fighters..and maybe the insides PAF are compromised by Abu Sayaf spies..i think the failures of PAF is they did not win the hearts of people in Sulu or Southern Philippine..and what more, there is rumours that Abu Sayaf already gain influence over some Philippine top politicians..but hey, it takes ATM more than a decade to wipeout the commies even with people siding with us..give the PAF some time..
wont help
the struggle, principle & philosophy between abu sayyaf & commies are quite different..PAF will have a hard time dealing with abu sayyaf, much worse than we dealing commies..& plus with pinoy policy towards muslim minorities, it will be a big headache for PAF to eliminate the movement..
u see..when u dealing with a radical movement that hold something close to their heart (in this case, abu sayyaf & Islam), there's no easy way to eliminate them..the other choice will be to collaborate with them, give them autonomy & let them rule their land but make a federal level agreement so that they wont dare to become backstabber..
thats how we tackled sabah & sarawak before this..give & take

they have created the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), doesn't that help
ASG wants to create an Islamic state in western Mindanao .....yet they fund their movement by kidnap and ransom....if you don't pay...they behead n sent the heads back...do you negotiate with these kind of people

isnt abu sayyaf like enemy to everyone, they once fight milf(the largest militia in sulu/mindanao)..is just there in sulu/mindanao got many faction, warlord. And sometimes they war with each other
weird thing about all this phillipines militia, their weaponry sometimes consider advance for a non-government militia/faction. Look at their picture they arm with pkm lmg, rpg rocket, m16 with grenade launcher..they look better equipped than those middle east militia especially those pkm lmg
cant be us who supply those gun, we dont have rpg and pkm LMG

that is what i mean..for PAF to eliminate Abu Sayyaf without recognizing Muslim Minority wouldn't eradicate Abu-Sayyaf
but once Pinoy recognized Muslim Minorities through Bangsamoro, then there's a chance Abu sayyaf can be eradicate (recognized one of sulu sultanate that capable to unite all sulu people, create job opportunity, build affordable & systematic housing, provide basic utility facilities, promote current sulu fighter from different section into PAF & select leaders among them, etc2..)..infrastructure & human development without jeopardizing Islamic & sulu sultanate sentimental value are biggest threat to Abu Sayyaf struggle

well, coz philippine is their ally..invading an ally would be insane wouldn't it? anyway, US did sent their troops to help PAF against ASG..spec ops mostly..Navy SEAL, Delta..but most time US forces just train PAF troops to do it..
thats exactly what i ask..using that canister method, can scorpene able to launch cruise missile like Tomahawk and its kind?
about cruise missiles like Tomahawk, dunno la whether the size of the tube is suitable or not for Scorpenes. But USN subs can and do launch Tomahawk missiles using the same method..
SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean military has approved a plan to buy 20 maritime patrol aircraft to improve the Navy's surveillance capabilities of North Korea, a military source said Sunday.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff has recently approved the Navy's request to add 20 maritime patrol aircraft to supplement the aging squadron of 16 Lockheed Martin P-3C Orions.
"The Defense Acquisition Program Administration is currently working on a plan, which is likely to be an overseas purchase program," the source said, asking for anonymity as it is not yet open to the public. The budget for the project is estimated at 1 trillion won (US$889 million).
Among the potential candidates are Airbus Military's C-295 MPA, Boeing's P-8 Poseidon, Lockheed Martin's SC-130J Sea Hercules, according to officials.

Thursday, May 23, 2013 The Navy’s first littoral combat ship — USS Freedom (LCS-1) — has suffered a maintenance issue forcing it back to port during its first extended underway from Singapore, according to reports from Defense News and Aviation Week.
“After getting underway on the morning of May 21, USS Freedom returned to Changi Naval Base approximately 8 hours later after the crew detected sediment in the ship’s lube oil system,” Capt. Darryn James, a Navy spokesman told Defense News.
Freedom, “returned to port under its own power and at no time was the crew in any danger,” James said.
The ship suffered coolant leak problems in April after the ship arrived in Singapore, according to a Wednesday report from Aviation Week.
The problems appear to be related, Navy officials said.
The ship also suffered power outages related to problems with its diesel generators.
Freedom is currently on an eight-month deployment to Singapore to test concepts for deploying LCS.
Eventually, the Navy plans to deploy four ships from Singapore.
