But on the flip side, it can store more capacity, right ?

Which means it can use it to charge appliances more than powerbank with lower mAh.

Is my understanding correct ?

A powerbank is designed for 5V output. Anything that runs on 5V should run on it.

I m using Pineng PN-988 now.
Design is like xiaomi powerbank.
10000mah at 3.7v or 37wh, rated on the bottom.
There is also stated > 6300 mah and > 31.5wh  (i cant read cineez)

Used for few weeks now,  everyday use.
Can charge my mi3 (3050mah) for 2 times only.
*
correct me if im wrong 10 000 x 3.7v = 37000
37 000/ 5v = 7400
6300/7400 x 100% = ~85% efficiency
basically u can charge maximum 2 times

surprisingly can charge my s3 2100mah battery 2 times full..

Is there a 1A point ? Maybe use lower Amp charge will help retain the charge longer ?

xiaomi's powerbank is still the best in my opinion. they have not made any online sales for quite some time, so be careful if you are purchasing from a 3rd party. there are links that show how to differentiate the fake ones.

I have a Pineng powerbank bought by a friend through tmall. so it is original. xiaomi's amperage is more stable, and the size is more compact. i'll stick to xiaomi for quality though, and panasonic/sanyo.

too many poor quality or fake ones being rebranded and sold as other brands in the market.

That's the problem today. Charging with low quality fake powerbank could be dangerous.

Is reputable brand like sanyo, panasonic, philips or samsung powerbank too expesive that people go for this fake powerbank? Those may have low mAh but it may charge the same mAh as bigger (claimed)20000 powerbank.

That's very true. The fakes have made mAh useless and meaningless.

i gotta admit i have a thing for xiaomi powerbank. Design top notch, fast charging and efficient capacity.

Recently bought 2x 5000mah mi powerbank the new 9mm slim version and the 16000mah powerbank again im impressed by these both powerbanks build quality especially the 5000mah. So sleek and premium feel on it.

okay so people have been advising to buy directly from their website to prevent from getting the fake ones but they always ran out of stock so i think just as long as you know a seller that buy directly from xiaomi china and resell even for abit more price for their own profit, then you're good. They're still ridiculously cheap for their capacity and quality compared to other branded powerbanks.

I got the new mi powerbank versions from this seller called hot tone gadget. You can find them on top of bestsellers for genuine mi power bank on lelong. 5000mah - RM 41.99 16000mah - RM 91.99 for silicone cover add rm2+ each

I verified mine are genuine through the code and tested the usb cable charging on the powerbank itself (no light for genuine) and they are proved to be original. biggrin.gif

Now i have the 10k,5k and 16k mi powerbank and they are awesome!

Hi

Good stuff you have here

Just wondering x-treme

i see people quoting the xx time charging the phone
but afaik the internal battery is also Li-type
so it runs on 3.7v instead of 5v

so a xiaomi 10k battery (by your calculations)
7k mAh @ 5V
and a Xiaomi Mi3 phone @ 3K mAh (3.7v)
have ~2.2K @ 5V

so it should be 7/2 = 3 times

but i see people here calculate by taking the powrbank capacity @ 5V and dividing with phone battery capacity @ 3.7v

a bit rclxub.gif here

Your calculation is correct but you forgot about energy conversion can never be perfect.

A certain % of energy will be lost as heat.

Pineng assume roughly 80% efficiency,

So the formula is just

10k / 3k * 0.8 = 2.6 times

No need to worry about voltages ( because it will cancel out in the formula ).

93% conversion efficiency, I still think it worth it. Somemore with all those smart chip to monitor your heat and current inside.

I guess till now no better alternative to xiaomi in price nad performance, safety ratio?
My friend used pineng powerbank many time during last flood, and his phone battery got problem. He says original pineng. So really need to be careful with powerbank especially circuit protection.

Do xiaomi official site always have sale with discount for powerbank? I don't really need it now. Would love to buy when it have sale but seems unlikely?

Do you think it is easier to carry the 10400 or 5200? 5200 is much slimmer but much taller compared to 10400. Which are more pocketable you think?

Now if it also have small emergency led flashlight like some other powerbank it would be cool.
