found an interesting listing in Lelong

http://www.lelong.com.my/hot-selling-muoge...7-01-Sale-I.htm

the cover and outside case looks exactly like Pineng's but they are not using 18650 batteries.

they allegedly use superior Korean li-po cells.

brand is MUOGE, but I can't find any legit links to this brand in google search.

yeap, it impossible. just sharing to warn people.

30k/2.6k is 11.++. the enclosure would need to be twice as long or thicker to accomodate those cells.

i bought a PN910 from a friend who went to china for a short trip. ordered straight from their website, and s/n checked alright. but haven't collected the powerbank from him.

interesting info in your thread. esp with regards to the grade of cells used in Pineng's powerbank.

are you using the exact enclosure and circuit boards with only the battery cells changed?

in pineng website, they say that the in input is 5v/2a, but yours is 1a max. so actually, even the Pineng units accept 1A max only?

but then again, higher A may lead to faster deterioration of the cells.

edit:

also, i found an interesting link of testing done on different brands of 18650 cells

QUOTE(AllnGap @ Dec 12 2013, 06:35 AM)
2A input for their board ??
not sure though. in order for 2A charging, the whole system is completely different
1. board must support 2A
2. charger must be 2A
3. cables must support 2A (normal microUSB can handle 1A max) only

i doubt it's truely 2A for that price because it's impossible to built if it's the same price  rolleyes.gif

even if the board is rated at 2A, charger not 2A or cable cant support up to 2A it's still not charging at that.
again just another marketing gimmick.

recently i built a 2A charging unit with 6 panasonic 3400mAh = 20,000mAh for a customer (sarawakian)
so far so good.....it's a totally different system altogether.

had to give him a true power 5V 2A Delta brand charger too. of course the costing would be so much higher.
*

ha. pineng malaysia site shows the input as 1~2A

but their listing at their official tmall site, shows input as DC 5v/1a doh.gif (well at least i think so, i can't read mandarin tongue.gif )
http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10...&id=20340460253

oh well, i'll test the charging time it'll take from 0-100 once i get the powerbank biggrin.gif

Great posts, great thread .. By the way , what do you think about RAVpower RP-BP13 14k mAh? seems good too, i'm still searching for most good portable powerbank which is not made from china, thanks.
*

why not try AllnGap's powerbank? he is using Pineng enclosure with Samsung cells, or you can customise to your specs too, from him.

Does it compatible for LG Optimus G HD?

most powerbank should be compatible to most smartphones. they can even charge older phones as long as you have the connector. so no worries there. biggrin.gif

My Experience
After much looking around and consideration I acquired a Probox 5200 mAh.  It runs fine. They claim to use Sanyo cells which has a reputation. After being in use for a few months I think that they are good. Prices are relatively higher but sadly they are not being restock.
Just bought another, the bigger 7800mAh. Hope it is as good as the first. Been on shop shelves a while and unlike Romoss they dont come pre-charged so have to do full charge of 8 hours.  Keeping fingers crossed but from my experience of my first purchase I think it will proved to be OK.
I do notice there is another brand that also quite good.  Enerpad.

Them more decent brands that I am aware of:-
1.  Probox - use Sanyo cells, premium look, so so build
2.  Eneloop - Own Sanyo branded powerbank, supplied with charger
3.  Enerpad
4.  Romoss  - Utilise Samsung, SDI for the premium model, great build
5.  Gigabyte also uses Japan cells, not sure what brand tho

I do hope some of forummers can post long term reviews of various models of powerbanks that we see many people use to give us a rough guide as to which are good buy and which are trash....
A decent powerbank can extend some of our mobile devices so that they can yields more months of services and delays purchase for upgrades while waiting for the right stuff to be released.
*

IINM, battery cells degrade even when you don't use it. So might want to avoid older brands or models. as far as i know, Sanyo has been bought over by Panasonic. and the famous 5200 mAh booster that Sanyo used to sell is being rebranded as Panasonic's, with wireless charging too. so try to get the newer batches from Panasonic instead of getting the old Sanyo mobile booster. I still see the AA and AAA eneloop NiMh being sold, i am not sure whether panasonic is killing off that brand or maintain the brand as it is already quite famous.
QUOTE(w00t @ Jan 31 2014, 06:30 PM)
Why not go DIY? From all of the decent brands mentioned above does come with quite premium priced no? Say find some decent powerbank case online and coupled it with a protected type of 18650 battery e.g: Keeppower, Panasonic or Samsung SDI or Sanyo,  there ya go... But of course price might be slightly cheaper or higher depends on selections, requirements (mAH ratings for battery, protected or non-protected type, brands etc..). Also if you are not those type who are adventurous into D.I.Y, might just go ahead for available brands in the market. Just an opinion...
*
True. and to be honest, the prices of these powerbanks that are mostly made in china is very cheap there. Problem is, even the fake ones looks exactly the same if you were to put it next to the original ones. it is much safer if you were to order from their official online store. normally listed in their official website. eg are Pineng etc. and these are normally quite recent batches, since they are straight from manufacturer, unless you choose the older models.

of course these china brands, the quality won't be A grade like Samsung Panasonic etc. but they should be adequate for average use for 2 years etc.

like w00t said, DIY is a good route too, since you can roughly test the age of the cells. but if that is too cumbersome, there are traders like AllnGap that sells his DIY powerbanks that use A grade cells by Samsung. and the price is fair in my opinion. reputable china brands powerbank are sold at similar price in malaysia.

personally, i am using Pineng's one, bought by a friend from China, straight from their official online store. it has been a few months and it still hold good capacity.

and of course, general rule is the true capacity is roughly 0.7 of the rated capacity. which for my 11200 mAh Pineng is 0.7*11200=7840. and this is true, as it can charge my N4(2100 mAh) roughly almost four times of full charge.

Just bought the Pineng PN910 by your recommendation on the first page.

It shows that the 5V 2.1A port is to charge tablets and the 5V 1.0A port to charge phones and MP3 players. But I don't have tablets so can I use the 2.1A port to charge phones as well? Will it harm my phone's battery? Sorry I know nothing about these electricity stuffs.
*
It is fine. The phone will limit the current anyway. I have the same model and I use 2.1 A port because with 1A, somehow I am only getting 0.6A for my phone, with 2.1A port, I get the max, 0.8+A. If you are using Android you can check this via battery monitor widget.

Managed to get one during this week's sale. It shipped out from HK this afternoon and then dropped by to Taiwan around 6 PM, and as of now, it has just departed from Philippines. Perhaps the shipment is including shipment for orders to these two countries too. Or maybe Cost saving route by UPS. Hopefully it'll be in Malaysia by tomorrow(Friday)

Two units of Xiaomi Powerbank only costs RM72. And max only buy 2 in one order, not enough to reach RM75...sigh...

Does this mean I'll have to pay extra RM15 shipping fee? Or is it just free delivery as long as you buy two units? Can anyone outside from Klang Valley help confirm this?
*
Actually, even if you have to pay for the extra shipping free, it'll be probably still be cheaper than buying the Xiaomi Powerbank fro elsewhere. Also there is an abundance of fake Xiaomi powerbank too, so I wouldn't mind the extra delivery charge as it is the real deal.

Plus, it is still much much cheaper than buying other reputable brands in Malaysia. It is still cheaper than buying Pineng powerbank directly from their website in China too, as you'll be paying only RM 43.50 per unit.

That being said, I think they'll skip off the delivery charges.

What are some of the "premium features" that are not available on the xiaomi powerbanks according to this article?
http://www.techgarage.my/why-xiaomi-offers...-banks-cheaply/

I need to get a powerbank but xiaomi has been out of stock for a while. I'll probably some other brand.
*
Xiaomi is better than my pineng powerbank at charging my mobile phone when I use it for navigation. With Xiaomi, the phone manage to charge even though heavy on GPS. On Pineng, it only slow down the discharging rate, so most likely it is not as high ampere as Xiaomi maybe. Both are original. 10400 mAh each. Another plus point is it is smaller than Pineng, but has only one USB port.

Try to lookup at mudah. They are still cheaper than other original brand powerbank.

Watch out for fakes, easy to recognise with this guide, http://en.miui.com/thread-19104-1-1.html

The colour of the USB ports a bit different on the fake ones.

Even fake ones has hard plastic casing as well. This is a more definitive guide,http://en.miui.com/thread-19104-1-1.html

Have not yet encountered fake ones on mudah.

xiaomi's powerbank is still the best in my opinion. they have not made any online sales for quite some time, so be careful if you are purchasing from a 3rd party. there are links that show how to differentiate the fake ones.

better than pineng?

have you or anyone here heard of proda powerbank?

says made under remax
*
I have a Pineng powerbank bought by a friend through tmall. so it is original. xiaomi's amperage is more stable, and the size is more compact. i'll stick to xiaomi for quality though, and panasonic/sanyo.

too many poor quality or fake ones being rebranded and sold as other brands in the market.

any good pineng 10000mah powerbank which cost less than rm50 included shipping?

i want to avoid old model pn-968, pn-913 btw.
*
why not get one from xiaomi? they are having open order now. no need to wait for tuesday sales. I have Pineng as well, but i prefer xiaomi's build quality and charging rate on the mi is more stable.

http://www.mi.com/my/mipowerbank/

10.4k is great for big capacity
the 5k one is a pocketable version. i use this more.
