Why longer battery life is always welcomed, don't forget that you must also consider what you can do with that battery life. And for me, I can do much more with an x86 compared to ARM.

dang it, I meant to type WHILE not WHY. tongue.gif

Guys, how's the Surface Pro treating you? Any problems with dust accumulation over time? How about heat in our climate? I'm interested in the Surface Pro [used to own an Acer W700] and I'd like to hear your opinion on this device.
*
Mine's treating me fine after 2 months, dust can gather around the seam between the edge and the screen, if you're picky about stuff like that it'll be a problem I guess.

As for heat, It's a Core i5 bro.. it's gonna get hot. tongue.gif There's one consolation to the hot surface though, the kick stand area is usually cold to touch, it's the top portion where the CPU is ( I guess) that gets hot and steamy.

On Surface 2? Nope, other than HK and China, nothing else in this region. I guess Singapore early next year then only us?

Surface being used in MLM sales session... first one I've seen so far! Probably because can still use existing Power Point, and also can use Excel spread sheet to show all the profit calculations. tongue.gif

try other socket outlet.. also try charge at other places but your house.. if still can feel the electric shock, send it for replacement..
*
unfortunately that's normal for any metalic body and poorly grounded power sockets.

the suggestion to use another socket is your only option

Back from the Date With Surface event.

Great for people who want to meet their celebrities or people who have not much of an idea of the Surface.

But, nothing much for those of us who frequent this forum I'm afraid.

hey guys,
which one is the best? surface 2 over ipad mini 2? in term of usefulness..hehe please enlighten
*
It all depends on what your needs are
- Want to play latest portable games? While the traction is there, most devevelopers are going to release iOS version first before Windows, even though we are seeing examples of people launching at the same time already.
- Want FULL / REAL Microsoft Office? Then a Surface 2 is the best answer, cause you get all the important stuff Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook.

QUOTE(maldiniho @ Nov 6 2013, 04:35 PM)
last evening I was a bit adventurous so I tried playing games on my surface pro for the 1st ever time. Walking Dead Episode 1-6. what amazed me it still ran fine even I pumped up the resolution to 720p.

one problem though - the mouse pointer keeps flickering/wiggling non stop whenever i moved my external mouse. Touchpad is fine, but it's almost unmanageable in gaming scenario. Anybody has any advice on this? sad.gif
*
What mouse is it? One of those high DPI ones? you might want to drop the speed and see. Been playing a few games on my Pro as well

- Terraria
- Typing Of The Dead Overkill
- Rayman Legends

Quite capable as long as you understand it's just integrated graphics and need to keep some settings down.

nevertheless, when surface pro 2 comes to msia, the price should be 3.5k and above......
*
Well, there's much more configurations now so more choice, but yeah, minimal should be around 3.5k

That's always the risk when you try to get stuff from overseas, you need to ask yourself, do you NEED it badly enough to take the risk?

surface pro has very short battery life. for that price, you might as well get a notebook or netbook.
*
the Surface Pro IS a notebook, albeit a relatively lightweight and portable one.

But if i were to get a notebook, i would definitely get a bigger screen and notebooks have longer battery life nowadays
*
Well, those are your needs, that are those of us who have a need for portable and high performance so it's great that we have a choice here.

Thanks.. Being playing State of Decay on it.. fun. my perception of HD Graphics 4000 capability has changed,  a decent cheap GPU.
*
Yeah, if you don't ask too much of it it's actually quite capable!

Dock? I bought one of those laptop stands that can tilt to 45 degrees, hot glued a 7 port USB hub AND a USB Ethernet to it.

There's your bloody dock! tongue.gif

i am using 1080p everything high with vsync off, not sure the fps but i think is around 30fps or lower, playable but still got slow downs
*
I think you should do VSync ON, because VSync Off makes it try to draw as much as possible which well... let's face it the HD4000 isn't THAT good tongue.gif
