I am looking into the new Surface. Didn't buy the old one due to battery lasting just a few hours.
If it's the same with Pro 2, I shall skip it again.
This is false. PS4 is coming to Malaysia and other Asia region in December not November.

Ooops, my bad, I remembered the dates wrongly.. doh.gif But... doesn't change the fact that we getting it before Japan. wink.gif

Ok.. here's something interesting.

Malaysia Surface Site has a banner talking about Pre Order.. but invalid link when clicked
http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-my

Singapore Surface Site has the Pre Order page properly working
http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-sg/pre-order

HK Surface Site DOESN'T have the pre order banner at all
http://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-hk

But HK is specifically mentioned in the press release
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/news/press/...surface2pr.aspx

I wonder if this means there really is an ever so *slight* chance that Malaysia is receiving the Surface 2 in Oct?

izit just me or the Surface announcements are very enterprise/corporate oriented?

MS using Nokia brand to target consumer markets? So meaning we may see smaller Nokia tablet devices (both windows 8.1 and RT) and probably another with the size of 10" running Windows 8.1?
*
It's probably because a Surface Pro is more likely to be used by professionals for work, rather than by the general consumer. And MS is trying to remind people that the Surface Pro is a REAL PC for REAL work.

Disappointed that there is still no LTE support. How to be productive without mobile broadband capabilities.
*
While I understand the convenience of a built in radio. How many people would want to take out another mobile plan in order to use it? Of course there's all the multi SIM plans offered now of course.

But then again, how well would the signal strength be? They probably have to cut a plastic hole or gap through the magnesium 'armour' to get better reception. tongue.gif

can Windows Surface Pro 2 run Autocad 2013/2014? hmm.gif

i basically use MsOffice n Web Browser for most of my work...

will only use Autocad to view drawings and make simple changes...
*
what are you using now for it? I guess if it's a low complexity drawing the Integrated graphics should be able to cope easily enough.

Waiting my surface to come but can it run usb modem or porta wifi device from maxis celcom?
*
I think the dongle needs to support a particular NDIS version then it might work.

As for the porta wifi, if all it needs is to draw power from the USB port, then it should be ok.

So it much safe to use porta wifi device?
*
Yes, because it isn't an actual modem device that needs to install drivers onto the system, it just draws power from the USB port.

But.. there's a caveat to this approach. If you end up in a situation where there's a whole room full of people using WiFi sharing with their own phones or wireless hotspot, they'll crowd up the transmission air space and your WiFi sharing won't work.

So far this has only happened in ONE of my client's offices which is packed with many consultants and freelancers using wifi, it's very rare, but it's just something you should keep in mind.

I wonder too. Would be good if support RT and Pro

I think the old Pro should be able to support the new keyboard, RT not sure.

If you play desktop games on your Surface Pro have you signed up for the Gestureworks Gameplay Beta program?

https://gameplay.gestureworks.com/

It allows you to create overlays on DirectX games and.. well.. play them like a tablet game.

You'd want more RAM if you're working with larger illustrator files.

Question For Ppl Who Upgraded Surface Pro to 8.1

Have you guys seen any problems resuming from hibernate? I just noticed that my Surface Pro has been failing to resume from Hibernate after the 8.1 update. Seems like I'm not the only one to based on the forums.

that is some fakap problem dude...how's that happen??

It seems like you popped a seam, try and claim warranty and see, if it's new they might just treat it as manufacturing defect and change it for you.

i am seeing the specs, i am not sure if the surface pro vs surface pro 2, has significant big diff in processor??

I am not particular on batt life, I am only getting 128gb + 4gb ram.

I am just worried if i get the surface pro now, and then the surface pro 2 comes out cheaper, i cry
*
core performance not much difference, just that the Surface 2 has a newer more power efficient CPU which is always nice.

as for what if the new one is cheaper or same price, that's always the very big question we have to deal with here where we can't be sure of the release date. tongue.gif

the battery life of surface RT & surface 2 even lost a large margin to other arm platform -.-, while the battery life of surface pro 2 is better than surface pro, it is still consider bad. asus t100 with intel atom bay trail battery life isnt really better than last generation either.
*
Why longer battery life is always welcomed, don't forget that you must also consider what you can do with that battery life. And for me, I can do much more with an x86 compared to ARM.
