Questions for F30 owners... (I'm very much interested in this cam)
1. Does the 'M' mode in the model dial allow manual shutter speed and apeture settings? (I've read that it doesn't, just want to clarify)
2. Does it have manual focusing function?

M mode is actually auto with selectable ISO, white balance you can select Aperture OR shutter speed with A/S mode 2. no manual focus. you can select spot focus if you want

fujifilm E550 user here. Absolutely loving it. For a 2004 camera, it still beats many of today's dc of similar range. Only drawback is fuji uses the expensive xd

anyone know how to take photo for F11 without much distortion (blur) when using ISO without flash? beside using the tripod... or it's a must to have a steady hand?

stalkie, you're talking about hand-shake right? not subject movement.. if you want to eliminate blur without tripod, make sure your shutter speed is at least around 1/60. for me i can still get non-blurry photos at 1/30 but need to be careful when pressing the shutter. sometimes i use 2-sec timer & i can hand-hold for 1/5 . try it! i'm sure your F11 will show the shutter speed when you half-press. u can use A/S mode -> shutter priority. if it's too dark then you hv to increase the iso but if subject movement causes the blur then u need much higher shutter speed depending on the speed of the subject

yea, you got it right... I'm referring to the hand shake... shutter speed 1/60 is it about 16? coz F11 can set up to 1000 shutter speed... QUOTE but if subject movement causes the blur then u need much higher shutter speed depending on the speed of the subject how about in the car trying to snap outside view or from outside trying to snap a moving car? Thanks a lot~

stalkie, i donno what you mean by 16. on your camera, if the shutter speed is 1/60s then you should see 60
for moving car i think you should use 1/250 or even faster

hmm so set the speed 1/60 meaning I set the shutter speed to 60?
and for moving car is 250? is that right?

Nobody here interested in the F31 fd? I'm currently thinking hard now on whether to wait for the F31 fd or go get the F30 now... there are rumours saying that the F30 might be discontinued once the F31 fd comes out So far the only main addition I know of is the Face Detection Technology. Anyone here know of any other useful features that were added to the F31 fd?

kon, F31fd is an upgrade of F30. of course it will be discontinued once upgrade/replacement model comes out. it happens all the time... the FD feature is interesting, but i'm not so sure whether it is very effective, or just marketing hype. but theoretically at least, it helps to get properly exposed face shots. u can also do it with F30 with spot metering. just aim on a face, half press, recompose & shoot - although you can only spot on one face, not multiple face like in FD anyway, buying a camera is also about timing & opportunity. i bought my F30 in time for recent raya & relative's wedding. so i can't wait for next model. so if you don't hv particular event to attend, you can wait. otherwise, F30 is already pretty good IMO
