If you already have a compact, e.g. a Canon Ixus, jump to a big prosumer like the S9500. If you can't afford it now, better to wait for the S6500fd, which has up to ISO3200 (the S9500 has ISO1600) and face detection. If you don't have any camera at all, get a manual-control camera, e.g. the Canon Powershot A710IS for RM1300 or less. It's got 6x zoom, image stabilization and ISO800, and has enough controls to do a lot of experimental photography, minus the manual zoom ring. On the cheaper end, the A540 for under RM900 has 4x zoom but no image stabilization. Once you can prove to your father that you have a talent, jump to the dSLR!

i'm looking for F30. where do you guys buy your fuji cam? quite difficult to find lor. any recommendation at bukit bintang area, or others? i went there yesterday & only one shop got it at BB plaza. quoted RM1299 with 512MB card. looking for (much) better offer... whosyour daddy, IMO you don't hv to own a DSLR to learn photography, but it does help, of course. just choose the one with manual control, or at least got aperture priority/shutter priority/ISO selection to understand how they work, & how good (or bad ) the photo come out. may be you can start with a good P&S like F30... as long as it fits your screen size, it's fine. don't have to find specific for your model. so u can buy RM20 one same as mine at shangrila. it doesn't affect the lcd brightness. i'm sure many cam shops has it.
