Hi guys, after returning the Inspiron 15R SE,I plan to buy a new laptop within this month smile.gif

1. Preferred Brand: Lenovo,Dell,Acer or any that has better aftersale service
2. Budget: 4k+ -
3. Usage: Programming, light photoshop and web development
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 or above

Currently eyes on Illegear RE-15,I would plug the laptop to an external dell U2312HM smile.gif Other than RE-15,any other is fall in my choice? Prefer Haswell processor as they provide better battery life consumption smile.gif
I heard Acer V series haswell would only available in Q3 or Q4 2013,is it true? sad.gif

Haswell was just launched not too long ago... so many of the available models in the market now are still not equipped with them yet. Wait for a while longer if you want to see what every brand has to offer icon_rolleyes.gif
Otherwise, you can consider this one as well:
14"
Lenovo Y410p, i7-4700MQ + GT750M(GDDR5)@RM2899, 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, 120w psu, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty

*use the remaining budget to upgrade to SSD.
* Since you have a good external monitor, rely on that one instead for better and more accurate color reproduction for your editing work

I've been wanting to get my hands of the Y500 with dual GT750Ms but a month ago most shop are out fo stock and asking me to wait for the hastell (i think). What's the latest series of lenovo gaming laptops? I heard from a shop in KK(sabah) now y400 have TOUCHSCREEN. What the hexl for?
*
If you are into gaming, the new Lenovo Y410 and Y510 are the ones to look out for, powered by Haswell nod.gif
Touch screen is more of a marketing gimmick, try not to fall for that haha, especially if you are not getting a hybrid notebook

1. Preferred Brand - Dell?? (For my parents, so....prefer good build quality and after sales service)
2. Budget - RM1000-1700
3. Usage - Web-browsing, minor office use
- CPU-i3 3rd gen or better CPU
- GPU-ok with integrated
- Optic drive required
4. Screen size - 14/15'', prefer matte type; their eyesight is not so good...

Need some advise to get a decent build quality budget laptop. Win8 too confusing for my parents, I'm ok if it come without OS as I can install Win7 for them.

I not sure whether this budget can find matte screen or not.. If got hope other guru can help you more recommendation about this.
Anyway this laptop comes in my mind, if neglect matte screen:

14 inch

Dell
Inspiron 14-3421, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1299[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 4-cell
Inspiron 14-3421, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT625M@RM1599[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 6-cell

15 inch

Dell
Inspiron 15, i5-3227U + Intel HD4000@RM1399[2.25kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), 4-cell, W8SL
Inspiron 15, i5-3227U + AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M@RM1499[2.25kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 6-cell, Ubuntu

If you have budget, better get i5 ULV over i3 ULV, cause i5 ULV performance is somewhere between i3-M and i5-M processor.
Anyway web browsing i3-U is pretty sufficient I think. But I was you, I will choose i5 cause 6 cell battery provide longer battery life.

ASUS dont have haswell chip equipped laptops released yet but lenovo is on the way. the model is Lenovo Y510P and/or Y410P. comes with 4th gen core i7 haswell, 8GB ram, 1TB HDD, windows 8, red backlit keyboard and GT750M graphics. Y410P is 14" while Y510P is 15".

be noted that there are some sellers in LYN already selling Y410P.

best notebook/laptop
Budget: within rm2600
Area: Komtar, penang
brand: any
usage: rendering 3D, programming, calculation (matlab&shits), gaming @ least metro: last light is playable.
time : next week
I'll treat it like a PC. So, good airflow is mandatory.

p/s: is it possible to get y400 with i5 + gt 650m/750m SLI under rm3k around komtar, penang?

Thanks for the reply smile.gif
So do you think Illegear RE-15 not worth for my usage? smile.gif
If lenovo Y510P is more suit for my usage,I would willing to wait until the end of June smile.gif
How about XPS13,14?

By the way, thanks for the recommendation.I would buy a 128gb/256gb M500 SSD after bought the laptop smile.gif
