Ultrabooks are not really meant for gaming because of the slim profile nod.gif
Still, if you insist on getting an ultrabook capable of gaming, then that Asus A56 is a good (and only) pick  nod.gif

sorry to tell you that you cant find 14" models with minimum 1600x900 resolution except XPS 14. some more the XPS14 is overpriced. you need at least 15" screen. however, best for your choice :

Lenovo Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, 120wPSU, swappable ODD
Dell [Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i7-3517U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2749[1.87kg], 8GB, W8 *no VGA port, OD

A56CM, K46CM, S46C, What's their difference? Looks, spec and everything is same except pricing. S46CA is higher than K46CM with exactly the same spec. Why?

I think K46CM is quite a capable ultrabook with such a low price. Built aluminium and quite good sound quality and even come with a DVD-ROM! GT635M is quite capable running Dota 2 at 1366x768 with mid setting.

I previously targeted at Z400 but after read some review about Z400 touch, it seems like built with a fake "aluminium" but plastic. The keyboard is quite bad and screen is dull (Maybe due to their touchscreen?) and Z400 isn't quite slim after I saw the side profile of the laptop, as thick as mainstream laptop and just the "Aluminium" and curved down plastic make it looks slim. I do like their spec and back lit keyboard but the built quality and thickness isn't quite good. Any Z400 owner here? Can share your opinion? It's quite hard to find a Z400 owner everywhere.

i was having a hardtime to scout fhd for 13.3/14" without these overprice as well.
if it is 15", which model you knew that has fhd? n yet remain on d budget rm3k-3.3k.
not really fond of 1366x768 due to small workspace.

Dell Inspiron 15R, i7-3537U + AMD HD8730M + (1920x1980; anti-glare)@RM3299[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL
MSI GE620DX, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT635M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2399, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS
Illegear RE-15, i5-3210M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080)@RM3299, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS [CPU Options: i5-3210M - i7-3840XM][/color]

best suggested is the MSI and dell. use the remaining budget to upgrade RAM, buy a windows and extend warranty to 3 years for the MSI.

Video editing - You need powerful i7 quad core CPU. GPU is not that critical actually, unless you put 3D effects into your video. If video files you editing are big, more RAM is better (8G is sufficient, 16G if you are paranoid biggrin.gif )
New tech?
Intel Haswell CPU is coming out in (end) 3Q13. Won't do much in terms of raw processing power, main benefit is expected on better battery performance (draw less electrical power).
Nvidia & AMD is doing their usual yearly GPU release (this could last a long time). No major change in underlying chip architecture for this generation, just tweaking in clock speed, etc.
screen resolution - No. Screen resolution is pretty standard. FHD is good for you. Go for good quality IPS screen, you will enjoy it (the Acer V3, eg.)

G55VW has more RAM slots, but the GPU is fixed, you canNOT change it. Wait or buy now? See above on CPU & GPU.

You may want to check out these:
www.illegear.com
Illegear RE-15, i5-3210M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080)@RM3299, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS [CPU Options: i5-3210M - i7-3840XM][/color]
Illegear RE-17, i5-3210M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080)@RM3499, 4GB, 500(5400rpm), FreeDOS [CPU Options: i5-3210M - i7-3840XM
fully custimisable (except GPU), can opt for very nice screen. If you go for 17", can fit in a SSD for OS and apps for better user experience, while keeping the HDD for storage of large video files.

Thanks so much for the Tech info. It's exactly what I needed to know. Seems like nothing holding me back at the moment. Thanks thumbup.gif

RE-15 looks quite good but price goes up quite steep when adding stuff. Somehow the US Sager/Clevo looks cheaper with the same configuration. I may be able to get one back from the US (without paying shipping) but the unfortunately the warranty will be a headache. How I wish they would tie up with a company in Asia to provide warranty support for Asia Pacific region.

im worry when the laptop is brought back to malaysia, the customs will confiscate your laptop and if you want to get your laptop, sure you have to feed them. at that time, you pay the same price like illegear do.

better stick with illegear if you dont want headache.

Dell worth it. it comes with newer generation ATi graphics card, the HD8730M, which outperform GT635M.
