1. Preferred Brand : doesnt really matter
2. Budget : ~3.5k,
3. Usage : medium MMO gaming, programming and video encoding.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : prefer 15+

dont want too bulky or too heavy, dont really care about the looks of laptop. prefer known brand with good cooling system.

best choice is the acer v3. you get full HD IPS screen and a decent graphics card.

1. Preferred Brand : Any
2. Budget : 4k+-
3. Usage: For work, gaming (mmorpg), programming, movies, music
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14-16 inch
5. Nice graphic prefrerred, Full HD perhaps.

Did some research, noted about Lenovo Y500, any other model to recommend? AcerV3? But not sure whether it can perform as well as Y500 .. @@. Thanks.

ASUS N56VZ-S4284H, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920x1080) + Bluray@RM3699[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 1TB, W8; color: black
Dell Inspiron 15R, i7-3537U + AMD HD8730M + (1920x1980; anti-glare)@RM3299[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL
Illegear RE-15, i5-3210M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080)@RM3299, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS [CPU Options: i5-3210M - i7-3840XM]

the acer cant perform as well as Y500 but the screen is definitely, no other laptops except hybrids can compete with. the acer v3 uses IPS display, means you have better view angles, sharper colours and vibrance. it is a good deal if you want to watch movies on it. also, the GT730M is about on par with GT650M. since you are into MMORPG only, you dont need an extreme graphics card.

if you want good warranty support, go for dell inspiron 14r.
if you want better performance overall laptop, go for HP Envy 4.
if you want best bang of buck and performance, definitely go for lenovo z480.

definitely this. it has the size of an ultrabook but the performance of a mid-high end laptop.

hi bro,

the lenovo ideapad seems to have the better spec, i5 and a better Graphic card compare to the other 2 right?

if my budget is 1.8k do u suggest this model?
*
i dont think the lenovo is a good deal. it has 2GB RAM, freeDOS which means it comes without windows installed. so IMO, dell will be better.

no. touch screen is not compulsory and it is a marketing gimmick. so it is better to stick with the current display.

2. Budget - 1.8k without dvd or 2k with build in dvd burner
3. Usage - As stated above
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14 to 15 inch. Prefer laptop then netbook.

QUOTE(khaiming89 @ Apr 17 2013, 09:29 PM)
Brand - i prefer other brands than acer, dell, and asus.
Budget - around 3k
Usage - used for working as programmer, and able to play some of the online games that require some graphics (Guild Wars 2, Dota 2, Dragon Nest) at least with 30fps and above...
Screen size - prefer 15 inch.

i have an extra SSD that is unused. is there any laptop with the requirement above will have additional slot for SSD ? or is there a way to mount the SSD in a normal laptop without much screwing and sorts?
*
Acer V3-571G-736b8G1T, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT730M(DDR3) + (1920x1080 IPS) @RM2899[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8
Dell Inspiron 15R, i7-3537U + AMD HD8730M@RM2949[2.32kg], 6GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL
ASUS N56VZ-S3151H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black

best choice is Acer V3. it comes with full HD IPS display and a decent graphics card which is enough for your MMORPG games. by the way for SSD question, you have to choose 17" laptops or sacrifice your current HDD and replace it with your SSD unless there is a caddy drive for those laptops.

hmm.. any other brands other than dell, asus or acer with the requirements i mentioned?
and if i choose 17" laptops i can install my ssd in it?

the caddy drives have to install/buy externally?
*
acer is the best choice. you probably need the full HD IPS display.
if you choose 17" laptops, then you can install your SSD into it.

for the caddy drives, they are sold externally.

Not reallyheavy i play dota 2 LoL and diablo? And most importantly  my favourite offline game nba13k i  play this game most of the time. I prefer portability and capable to play nba13k at least in a high setthings. I own a n53 it was 2.6kg and i bring it to university everyday kills me sad.gif and it was quite bulky tough...
*
then the dell will be a better choice since it is lighter. i am sure you love the power of full hd screen. or go with this if you love sharper colours and vibrant :

Acer V3-571G-736b8G1T, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT730M(DDR3) + (1920x1080 IPS) @RM2899[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8

it seems the acer is quite bulky but as long you can bear the weight. biggrin.gif
