thanks for the reply bro..
yeah, for asus, i've heard bout that also..
so, can you help me with this, is the touch screen really worth to have..
if yeah i think lenovo z400 is good but i need to think bout the battery life..
if its not, i think hp envy 4 is a good one..
*
battery life is bad for the Z400 as it is a 4-cell non-removable battery. if you want to keep up the trend, you can get the touch screen. AFAIK, touch screen laptops are just a marketing gimmick. if i want to get a touch screen, i would get hybrid laptops than touch screen laptop. as a conclusion, i dont think the touch screen is worth it.

the HP envy 4 seems good too. its pretty light and slim.

thanks again bro.. smile.gif
i think i just narrow it down to either 15r and z580...
actually i interested in lenovo y400...but i just confused if it worth for me to buy it. rclxub.gif
*
the lenovo Y400 will be better. it is thicker compared to Z580 and has a little more area for cooling. plus, the graphics card on Y400 is GT650M, one of the 1st class graphics card.

if you are in need of a laptop for work, then you can get the Z580. the graphics card is mid-high end and capable of playing most modern games. smile.gif

1. Preferred Brand : Any
2. Budget : below 2k ( my cousin want's it)
3. Usage  : Daily use, movie, adobe PS,AI and gaming (Dota 1)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : i5 + graphic card 14"-15" + come with 8gb ram, future can update to 16gb.

thanks

this

Lenovo G480, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT635M@RM1699, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS
Lenovo Ideapad G580, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM1699, 2GB, 500GB, freeDOS, 1 yr warranty

for the RAM, is your cousin doing lots of multitasking? because 8GB is enough for running 3-4 heavy programs. so i dont think your cousin need a hilarious 16GB setup. be noted that above the 2 laptops, the RAM is upgradeable. 4GB stick = RM80-90, 8GB = RM130++. price is RSP and negotiable for laptops.

yes, as long you use 64-bit OS and use 2x8GB RAM.

and, yeah, for gaming 4GB can done the job. so there is no need for excessive RAM.

Haiz... it is impossible to get back same model again. My N56VZ (i5) just got stolen few months ago.
I went to many PC shops and ask for order Dell Inspiron 15R SE, all of them got tons of excuses. "They don't have the dell authorize license" and "only available to order 2.5k above for DELL model" and "the DELL Inspiron 15R SE is discountinued. "
So hard to get it sad.gif

which fella said this deserved to be slapped. SE versions need to be ordered online, because as said, special edition. consider these?

ASUS A55VJ-SX093H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT635M@RM2499[2.52kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black
Dell New Inspiron 15R, i7-3537U + AMD HD8730M@RM2949[2.32kg], 6GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL
Lenovo Ideapad Z580, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7HB, white

note that Z580 has better cooling than Z500.

2. Budget - Below RM 3K (Basic unit without add ons like Win 8 or RAM)
3. Usage - Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and some gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14" or above

Thank you sifus!

lets see, you want 8GB RAM, decent graphics card, ultrabook processor and SSD. im pretty confused with this requirements because most of it are out of your budget configuration. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif what about this?

Hello sifus, I'm looking for new laptop:

1. Preferred Brand : Any
2. Budget : around 2.5k
3. Usage : surfing (fb, youtube, etc), online (cs, dota, etc.) and moderate (far cry 3, crysis 3, etc.) gaming, watching/streaming hd movies, adobe software, multitasking.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : preferred 14" - 15.5"

I've read that best bang for gaming with 14" around 2k is Lenovo Z400. What about 15.6"?

P/S : If got price higher that my budget that around 3k also can put on the list. Need to survey 1st. Thank you so much!  notworthy.gif

Lenovo Z400, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty; colors: chocolate

Lenovo Ideapad Z580, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2299, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7HB, white

yes, the best bang for gaming with 14" around 2k is Lenovo Z400 but it is not recommended for long hours gaming. for 15.6", it will be the lenovo Z580. lenovo Z580 is cooler compared to Z400, so Z580 is capable for long hours gaming.

Hi guys, need help hunting the best notebook?
Price = 3k to 4k
Brand = any, as long as good service
Purpose = Uni purpose. (Study chemical engineering) + stimulation(Hysis, Matlab...etc) + gaming + Design(photoshop)
Others (Must) = play Dota NO LAG, with graphic to max, screen size 14 and above, if 15inch must FHD.
*
consider these

Illegear RE-15, i5-3210M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080)@RM3299, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS [CPU Options: i5-3210M - i7-3840XM]
Dell New Inspiron 15R, i7-3537U + AMD HD8730M + (1920x1980; anti-glare)@RM3299[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL
Lenovo Ideapad Y500, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920x1080)@RM3799, 4GB, 500GB, W8; GN36 exGPU, 120W & 170W AC adapter

specs and budget wise, the Lenovo Y500 will be better while warranty support is dell. if you dont want the Y500 extra graphics card, you can swap it out and sell it at RM600 and swap it with a cooling fan or hard disk bay and upgrade the RAM to 8GB if you like. price for all laptops are RSP and negotiable. icon_rolleyes.gif

*
the Z500 will be better due to its graphics card. but i will select Z580 over Z500 because of the removable battery feature on Z580 and thicker case for cooling.

the extra graphic card you mentioned above, is it refer to G650M? and can you recommend some shop around KL that offers the "swap n sell" service? thanks.

im not sure if there are shops allow to swap and sell in KL. try look at low yat plaza, the IT mall. the GPU i mean is the GN36 exGPU (or GT650M swappable).

they are overpriced. sweat.gif
their design is pretty good and no problems with build quality. their main point in overpriced is because they are lighter than other notebook brands.
