dear all, just want to double confirm, even after LASIK, short sighted issue might return right? it's very subjective depending on individual, and eyes gets dry faster compared to original right? planning to go for it, but worried about the effects of it, like the actual issue before LASIK coming back years after

before u go for lasik, it is important that u know that is ur power of short-sightedness stable for at least a year? if yes, normally means it will not go up anymore or mayb plus minus 25 power, only then u r a good candidate for doing lasik. After lasik, normal lifestyle won't really cause the short-sightedness to come back, if u r facing computer for abnormal long hours and u still hope ur eyes r okay with it, then dun go for lasik, i guess it will has a great chance to have short-sighted back.... As for dry eyes, it is common for every1 who has done lasik, surgeon will advise u to put on eye drops like every 2 hours except while sleeping ... and the dry eyes situation will slowly get better after a period of time... For my case, the 1st week check-up after my lasik, yes optometrist said my eyes was a bit dry, but then a month later for next check-up, everything is in good condition already ^^.. Hope this will help you Added on August 11, 2012, 2:20 amQUOTE(raptar_eric @ Aug 9 2012, 03:32 PM) dear all, just want to double confirm, even after LASIK, short sighted issue might return right? it's very subjective depending on individual, and eyes gets dry faster compared to original right? planning to go for it, but worried about the effects of it, like the actual issue before LASIK coming back years after This post has been edited by Lucas91: Aug 11 2012, 02:20 AM

If big difference, then better wait for another few months or 1 year to double check the power before going for lasik. Most ppl eye power stablised after 20 year old unless u have bad visual habit and like to strain ur eyes a lot.

My job requires me to stare at the comp. screen for long hours but I do stare away every half to one hour once and walk about.
I still can see using my old specs (currently wearing and I am sure that my degree have increased). Im over 20 years old ady.

Thx for the advice jialat! nick seems weird. lol sometimes age also matters. i am 38 now... my shortsight hadnt increase since i was 26. in fact the power dropped like 50 or so... i stare at computer screen between 5-9 hours a day with short break in between for the last 15 yrs. the professionals can check your eyes and compare to your glasses. no worry. but it is a bit hard to focus on the computer screen after lasik... i had to change the fonts to few points bigger. after a month or so i am ok now.

pain... i dont think so. but uncomfort... yes.
recovery depends on age. if you've been on glasses for many many years like me (almost 30 yrs) then it takes a while... up to 6 mths.
sometimes i still have this action of taking my glasses as if i am still wearing them... even after 5.5 mths.

Hi jialat, do u think u can get any discount for cataract surgery? I was quoted around 5500~5900 for single lense and ~8500 for multifocal from Dr.Chuah Optimax TTDI. Actually I can get a cheaper price (2900 if I'm not mistaken) from dr.yeap(jb/kk optimax) but since it's inconvenient for us to travel to JB, might as well do it here la.
