I see! Or you could always arrange for the surgery to be done in KL if you're particular about which surgeon that is going to perform your procedure =D

No eye makeup & skincare for minimum of 3 weeks. I stayed away for 4 weeks just to be safe.

The recovery rates for different procedures are different. LASIK generally you can expect clear vision within a week. I did epi-LASIK and until now my right eye vision is still not that satisfactory. You can refer back my previous posts if you're interested =)

I have my eye examination and surgery scheduled at Optimax TTDI on Aug 27 with Dr Stephen Chung. I have been wearing glasses since I was 9 or 10, and then contact lens for many years after. My contact lens have been irritating my eyes for the past year or so, and changing brands and types of lens didn't help, so I have finally decided to take the risk after reading through this entire thread!

Wish me luck! smile.gif I will report back once I have my surgery next month. Btw, can I still ask for discounts on the day itself? I tried asking through emails but was told that there are currently no promotions, the price quoted is the in-house lowest price, blah blah blah. I was quoted between RM3388 and RM3888 per eye.

you can discuss the financial stuff during the consultation session as well =)
when i had my surgery there were no promotions, and the only 'discount' offered was for the referral, and if you choose to settle the total amount in one go. about 10 percent i think if i'm not mistaken.

3388 is for epi-lasik and 3888 for all-laser lasik right?

good luck on your surgery =) dr stephen is very professional, you'll definitely have confidence in him. can be a lil be intimidating tho

First time posting! But yes, am considering all-laser-lasik at Optimax TTDI. Really want to do it as I've found my specs and contact lenses really bothersome for the last few years. Maybe my tolerance is just getting less but have also been considering Lasik for some time. The consequences are quite high though--the health of my eye, and the cost of the procedure--so would really appreciate some feedback. And the thread here seems the most up-to-date and comprehensive.

I went to the preliminary eye test yesterday at Optimax TTDI. Yes, I found them a bit pushy and pricey too. Like the cost was RM1888/eye for the basic procedure (I think the flap is cut with the blade on the machine); the next up was the conventional all-laser-lasik (flap is cut with laser only) at RM2888/eye; the most expensive was the RM3888/eye all-laser-lasik customised treatment with wavefront technology. Just to get the financial side done with, after my first eye check, they said that there was a Merdeka promotion (only equivalent to a few RM100s worth of discount) but I had to put a deposit of RM100 down on the day of my preliminary check itself. I would get a refund if I phoned up within 30 days but still felt that I was being pushed to put down cash.

Re the eye test, I was fortunate enough for my eye to be thick enough for lasik treatment. So far, my aunt has been happy with her PRK treatment while a friend of mine also has no regrets with her Lasik (conventional treatment) done in Optimax TTDI.

I am very likely going to just go ahead with Optimax TTDI's next stage of eye test--the more comprehensive one with the doctor I think. He will apparently then seriously advise me on which treatment my eyes require.

Would like to enquire with readers however, is there anyone out there who can give me a referral discount? Would appreciate it smile.gif

Also, would anyone recommend going to another centre which is cheaper? I do find RM3888x2 quite a hefty sum and would appreciate saving some money if the other option was found to be consistently safe.

Of course, this brings us to the most important question. I know everyone has said that it's either great or nightmare-ish and it's difficult to decide on optimism or conservatism. I'm leaning on optimism now as I believe that wearing contact lenses has not been very healthy for my eyes either. If any of you could give me the latest updates on your first hand experience, or that of your direct contact, that would be much appreciated.

But yes, to Chocoholic, good luck on your treatment. Will watch out for your post-op account. smile.gif

Hope to hear from you all.

I had my lasik operation last Saturday with Dr Steven Chung in Optimax, TTDI. He is very good and professional ..no doubt about it.
The operation was quick if you have big eyes ball and round shape corneas. The patient before me has smaller eyes and his operation took about 30 mins. Mine is only 10 mins. The only time you will suffer is after the operations for 4- 12 hours. I feel like digging out my eye balls due to the pain. Luckily , they give the PONSTAN tablets to ease the pain. After the treatment, you will only see the distance objects but not the near objects like phone, watch etc...Your near vision will only be ok the next day. Until now, my head still feel a bit dizzy which is normal according to Dr and will last for 1 week.

hi all,

I have recently came accross an advert on Advance Vision Eye Specialist Centre and it is sure delighted to know (must admit some fear as well) the price.

The price for Lasik Surgery is stated as RM 2888 both eyes, way way cheaper than Vista (RM 39XX per eye) and Optimax(RM 38XX per eye).

Any Advance Vision patients that can share your experience? Or general feedback on this eye centre?

I stopped using the artificial tear after just a few weeks.
Every person is different.
Maybe u should get a consult.

Yes it is doable for that eye power. However, the suitability may depend on other factors as well like corneal thickness, etc. Infact, you can get your eyes assessed for free at some of the clinics like Vista in The Curve.
