I have my eye examination and surgery scheduled at Optimax TTDI on Aug 27 with Dr Stephen Chung. I have been wearing glasses since I was 9 or 10, and then contact lens for many years after. My contact lens have been irritating my eyes for the past year or so, and changing brands and types of lens didn't help, so I have finally decided to take the risk after reading through this entire thread!

Thought I'd share my experience regarding my Lasik operation. I did mine at Optimax TTDI with Dr Stephen Chung end of August last year, so it has been nearly 6 months since. I chose Optimax TTDI after surveying a lot of my friends who have had their Lasik done previously at either Optimax or Vista. My eyesight before the surgery was 450 R and 425 L for shortsightedness with 150 astig for both L & R. I did Custom Lasik and paid RM7776 for both eyes (spreading it over 12 months).
The day right after the ops was painful and I popped all the painkillers given to me but after that my recovery was great. I have been (extremely) lucky and thankful that I have no side effects (none of the halos, etc that most people would experience). I did have very dry eyes for the first few months and had to bring the provided eye drops with me at all times but I think starting the 4th or 5th month post-op, I stopped using the eye drops. During my last eye check-up (3 month post-op), my right eye has 0 shortsightedness and 0 astig while my left eye has 50 shortsightedness and 50 astig - not perfect, but it's good enough and I'm happy that I no longer have to carry my contact lenses and solution every time I travel and have crystal clear vision the moment I open my eyes in the morning. It wasn't cheap but I still think Lasik is a worthwhile investment. |
