just check eyes each year and keep a record for 2 years result, if those numbers are the same then you are good to go.

Hi All,

I came late. I went to Optimax TTDI branch for pre-surgery eyes examination in December 2021. The exam results are as follows (roughly, I don't 100% remember):

Power and Astigmatism - Left: - 8.50 (-2.00), Right: - 7.75 (-1.75)
Corneal Thickness - Both eyes > 500 microns (around 5.40 microns)
Tears Test - 4s - 5s
Topography - Not Round
Age: 29

I was advised that I am passed for any kind of laser treatment, but of course, Relex Smile was implied as the advanced, low risk and less complications. I intended to get Dr. Stephen Chung as they claimed that he is the most experienced in the centre.
However, when I do research online, there are many (yes, unexpectedly many) unhappy cases of Relex Smile. I am also worried about slow recovery and higher risk for ectasia, eye dryness, etc. if I choose other method such as Femto Lasik.
This has made me stop to think should I proceed laser treatment. I have this on my mind since years ago due to thick and heavy spectacles, and now I have stronger intention to get rid of it after triggered by a quite successful case of my colleague (Femto Lasik I think, he also doesn't know).

Can I have kind advices/comments from you all? Thanks!

hi, u should go for femto lasik.

post op ectasia risk can be assessed before surgery using Belin Ambrosio test, most importantly is consult an experienced and ethical corneal specialist, not just general ophthalmologist.

They didn't give me the report of eyes exam, instead they only explain verbally. Thanks for info.
Would you recommend Dr. Stephen Chung from Optimax TTDI, or you have other better surgeons in your thoughts?

You can consult a general ophthalmologist like dr stephen, i would prefer to get a corneal specialist to do the refractive surgery if its for my own eyes.

I recommend Dr Ainur Rahman in Ara damansara medical centre for lasik, he has very good record and feedback from many patients. You can search for it from other members in lowyat forum, if you want some discount on doctor consultation fee, just pm me name and contact number, i can pass to his nurse.

Since u have seen optimax Dr, you can compare who is much detailed and thorough. thanks

48 hours post procedure:
Significantly better vision.. Astigmatism is close to none except when eyes r teary or dry.
That feeling of liberty is just..beyond words can describe. No problem to walk under bright sunlight at noon, no dry eyes, no tiredness.

Dr Helen did a great job.. My wife is going for her turn soon !

Thanks for sharing your experience, it definitely helps with my anxiety. I'm still thinking if I should go for it...

hi, you have presbyopia which is common for above 40, it happens when we lose the eye muscle focusing strength for near objects.

you need bright light when look at near, otherwise try pushing the near objects further and you may still read them quite ok. you can't escape from reading glasses in a year or two, i afraid lasik cant help improve your near vision once all far power had been removed.

Hi everyone,

I would like to seek opinion on everyone regarding FEMTO Lasik treatment at KPJ Ipoh?

Seems like many people focus around Klang Valley, has anyone tried out KPJ Ipoh?

It seems like a decent price.

Hope to get some insight.

Thanks all.

May i know how much is Dr Ainur's consultation fee?
After u pass our name to his nurse , then  we need to call to the clinic to make appointment and mentioned our name for the discount?

May I know after  the  lasik suitability assessment, if I am suitable, within how many months I need to done the surgery? to ensure the data  of the  pre lasik assessment still accurate to be used.
*
hi, specialist consultation fee is ard RM150 after discount, the examination fee using the equipment cost ard RM 250 if not mistaken.

Dr Ainur nurse will call you for appointment after i forward your name and hp to them.

test result valid for 1-2 months max if you want to be safe.

Before discount ,is around how much will be the consultation fee and the examination fee using the equipment ?

Examination using the equipment is compulsory during the pre lasik assessment right?  Is this done in optimax as well?
*
Before discount i think its RM 225.

Pre lasik examination using equipment is compulsory, no discount on those hospital charges.

Not sure Optimax does all the same test but even they do, you should consider a second opinion especially if you don’t get to consult the eye specialist directly.

For those planning to go for surgery, all should go read a lasik related post in serious Kopitiam sub forum which admin recently tagged me there to give comment.

Hi @jialat, I went for an eye check up today and was told my eye was a little on the dry side but nothing to worry.
I was also recommended prk instead of femto lasik because of my active lifestyle.

Would u suggest a prk instead of lasik?
He said femto lasik is mostly pain free but there is a risk with the flap reopening.

What are your thoughts on the above?
I was very confident about the surgery until I read the waiver form.

Depends on what activity you do. If MMA or martial arts/ boxing, then PRK better. But also depend on how high the power. If too high, PRK also cause more haze/ scarring. PRK takes much longer time to recover and more painful than femto lasik.

to reopen that lasik corneal flap, someone need to punch the eye very precisely to do that, LOL

I would still strongly recommend femto lasik instead of PRK.

Hi All,

I just did my Relex Smile surgery about 1 week ago, just wondering anyone care to share their recovery experiences?

Not sure if I should be worried or just be patient, because as of now I'm able to see about 2 arms length distance clearly. However after that it becomes blurry.

I'm not sure if it's just healing and my vision will improve over the next few weeks.

Hi everyone, has anyone has experience with Prince Court Lasik? Since Prof. Muhaya didn't operate from there anymore and is it still a good choice?

I was told the price is RM5590 (and inclusive of eye check around RM700 if can proceed with the surgery) with medicines and follow up (3 times, only within a month, unlike other places 3 months, 6 months and 1 year follow up).

So, just wanna hear views from you guys wink.gif Thanks!

I've checked it out, seems to me you've gotten pretty good vision right away.

Did you manage to see absolutely clearly after the first 48 hours or you had similar case whereby far objects are still not clear and it eventually clears up after a month or so?

Just an update, I've gone to the Doctors for my 1 Week checkup and he reassured me that it that Relex Smile takes awhile for vision to recover.

So will have to be patient up till a month to see if there's any improvement.
