Almost... minus lectures, eat, crap, piss, sleep (even this is lacking most of the time)....
there is a LOT to cover (and I mean it, A LOT).....

Can get online for awhile during meals / before going to sleep after torturing the brain with seemingly unlimited facts reading....

LOL. No such thing as 24/7 a week la. Probably 4 hours a day excluding lectcure hours, few hours to revise every weekend. Those seniors are just scaring you away la, we still have our life besides studying anyway. Student life is one of the life you'll be able to enjoy throughout your life. wink.gif

Exactly ... unless you are the psychopathic mugger ...
Just go through your daily work; finish any assignments ... Should be about 2 - 4 hours (depending on how do you read)
Wouldn't take you much time if you know how to manage time well.
But of course, exam prep takes some planning and since the course content is higher than other courses, you got to plan well.

Actually the food has been a problem for quite some time since they changed the caterers in end of 2006 or early 2007. Low quality not usually meaning poisonous food but I suppose low variety and weirder selections of unheard vegetables and stuff like that. It gets very boring after some time you know, the food.
The fridges are being phased out as what I have heard. Not sure on it myself.

really depends on individual's taste...yes, the food provided is mainly catered towards the indian community. but that doesn't mean as a chinese i have a problem with that. i like spicy food alot.

it's just that once in a while, the chef runs out of ideas and come out with weird recipes, sometimes inedible...

yup, they are phasing out the refrigerators...i heard...

it is amazing people are willing to take a chance on a new, completely untested medical schools, form a new uni, with few details on the programme and staffs..........and pay a small fortune as well........

can only happen in msia.......

new medical schools in the developed world is ALWAYS in very established unis......and the programme is very carefully planned, often lead by a prominent well known member of the profession, usually from an existing medical school..........

go google keele in uk, and jcu in oz..........and latrobe for dentistry......

In UK, they are also complaining about the lowering teaching quality nowadays. Only in Malaysia are we completely satisfied about our new medical school sad.gif

the uk have increased their total intake, and output of doctors by 50% over the last 10 years, from increased intakes in established med schools, and new med schools.........so there is bound to be issues during this transition period........

the 'surplus' is actually a mismatch between the numbers graduating and the established posts available, which is a british civil service/administration problem (ala jpa issues), rather than actually having too many doctors.......when the ewtd (european working time directive) kicks in and shift duties is implemented, the numbers of required posts will balloon, and more than absorb the graduating numbers........whether there is money in the nhs for this is another issue........

and how the ewtd will influence post graduate training is also a different issue......

the situation is no where as chaotic as the current situation in msia......and at least they don't have a problem with basic intake issues, as the med schools are all public funded.......they can select based on academic merits........not on 'financial merits'.........so there is not the doubts about the calibre of new graduates like in msia........

There is no such thing as forced entry to any school. It's your choice and it will be your future later on in life. Think wisely and do some research before you're going to enter any university, especially med schools. Your friends from other university of the same course can only provide you with their feedback on their own curriculum, to the most some basic methods of studying and basic skills. They can't be lecturing you throughout the 5 years. The school you're gonna enrolled too will play a really big part in shaping you in the future. It's either you're a competent, or lousy doctor later on. Of course, i'm not ruling out the student's own initiative on studies. BUT, med schools does play a much more important role then your own attitude. To an extend that a good med school will reverse your bad attitudes.
