That way, you can really know whether you will be a good doctor wanting to help people are in it just for the prestige and money. This post has been edited by Optiplex330: Dec 23 2009, 10:51 PM

Nope no twinning courses, whole of the programmes are done locally. And if you intend to enroll in july, you've better start applying now. These courses are very competitive, in case if you don't know. 700 students (foundation leavers) are eye-ing for seats in dentistry and medicine.

i think anyone intending to go for the foundation, with the POTENTIAL possibility of entering medicine/dentistry should take cognisance of one thing........there is a high chance of NOT getting selected.........some 800 foundation students will be fighting for less than 200 places (some places will be given to jpa and students from stpm/a-levels/sam etc........
so i would suggest potential students enter with the right perspective.......otherwise it can be very heart breaking.........

QUOTE(JessicaLooi @ Jan 12 2010, 12:25 PM) hi, im new here..planning to study foundation in science in aimst then continue wit d medical course ther..but there are a few problem i wanted 2 ask. for the fees for medical course, we hv 2 pay by term or pay all (220k) straight? is ther any scholarship available 4 d medical course cox of some financial problem dat i faced~wen is d date 4 d april intake 4 foundation in science? hope 2 get some reply bac soon... I guess cacing has well answered all your questions. You pay per term, which the total amount will come to 220k. And there're currently no scholarshops for the degree programme but there are rewards for the foundation courses. PTPTN loan up to 150k is available though. You could always check it out by calling AIMST or visit their website. Housemanship starts only after your graduation from medical school, and it's basically 2 years after your 5 year medical education which you'll be working as a 'trainee doctor' in public hospitals. And yes, you get paid for it because you're a house officer (HO) working for the government.
The 3rd year of most medical courses are called 'clinical rotations/training' where you still undergo lectures. Most of the time focusing on bedside learning. You're still a student untill you pass your 5th year final examination. Instead of getting income, you pay for your education.
