QUOTE(Noyoudontcare @ Aug 22 2013, 12:37 AM) Handling and ride and acceleration wise, is the new suprima a lot different than preve ? Tq handling - slightly different. suprima feel heavier ride- same acceleration - suprima can be felt more lively, no more throttle delay.

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Aug 21 2013, 10:00 AM) The waiting period for appointment at Proton Edar Service of Centre Excellence along Kesas highway is so long. Called up today the whole of this week is already full and not available. Only Wednesday onwards are available. Does anybody have issues with some annoying sound from the back seat of Proton Preve Turbo when driven at low speeds up to 60km/h? Some "Nyek nyek" sound, though I am not sure where the sound comes from at the back seat. I've adjusted the foldable seats at the back many times and yet the sound is still there. Hopefully it can resolved. mine cant even snap on properly

I asked them about the Raya Rebate, they said it's there and i'm eligible to get it. After the service, found out that i don't have the voucher/rebate in my account. The guy at the counter is nice enough to send a report to the HQ? regarding the issue. I paid full amount. 3-4 hours later the same guy called me back telling me the voucher is now in and i will be able to use that on my next service. Really helpful guy named Amran. it's my 1st service (1000) for my Preve CFE. Use Syntium 1000 and the total damage was 216.25

QUOTE(Arndt @ Aug 22 2013, 01:27 AM) mine cant even snap on properly the Preve Turbo fabric seats feel cheap, and yes the adjustable/foldable rear seats in design don't snap firmly, as it is still slightly lose even though it's "secured" firmly. Anyway, for the "nyek nyek" sound that is coming from the back seat area(not sure where the sound is originated from), the sound is gone yesterday evening and this morning. Now the interior of the cabin is as quiet as a mouse except for the Turbo engine noise and CVT whining sound without all the rattling noises in the cabin due to poor fitting. Will continue to monitor further. Though I don't expect this same level of quietness after 2 years of usage. Hopefully things inside the car will only start to rattle from 3 years onwards.

For those driving Preve Turbo, when going downhill a steep slope, do you realise that the car's rpm will shoot up high up to 3,000rpm as if the engine braking is automatically applied? I experienced this several times on a relatively steep slope on an overhead bridge. If doing downhill Genting Highlands, I guess we will need to switch to manual mode and use the Paddle shifters to change gear instead, as I suppose the car will go into high rpm and move relatively slowly on the steep slope. I am guessing the car will stick to the 2nd or 3rd gear when going down a steep slope in Automatic, unwilling to engage into higher gears thus causing the car to move slowly down the slope at high rpm. Not a very fuel efficient way of driving.

Not a very fuel efficient way of driving. Yes it is engine braking. No, it actually is FUEL EFFICIENT doing that. Above certain RPM, usually 1000 RPM, no load, no throttle input, the ECU will cut fuel injection into the engine. Therefore in the above downhill case, even at 3000 RPM, no fuel is being fed into the cylinders. This is also know as Decel Fuel Cut-Off. All electronic fuel injected engine has this feature since at least the 90s. To cancel this feature, either use manual mode of press the throttle slightly. That way the ECU detects throttle input (3% instead of 0%) and cancel engine braking. For further explanation, browse to 1st Post, Page 1 in this thread, CVT Section.

I think others like european car also set that way. unless if we driving manual or an old car, the setting is haven't applied yet

I just heard somewhere in others forum, they will comeout with a launch of proton preve r3 as well as new preve. new preve will comeout with all features that comes with suprima s (like a new fog light design, honeycomb radiator grill, radio unit). That is why now they have offer up to 6k for old batch of preve.
Not sure when it will comeout

Not a very fuel efficient way of driving. It is the characteristic of the CVT to apply engine braking automatically when going downhill. To save fuel or to save live during downhill from Genting, that's your choice.

Sad to read about the crash which involved a bus at Genting Highlands which left 37 people dead. Saving fuel with engine braking is indeed a revelation for me, as my impression is when rpm shoots up high, more fuel will be used up. Guess the opposite is true with this engine braking. CHeers.

My friend's facelifted Altis with cvt also has engine braking feature. Both of us were clueless when he told me that while he drove down a hill slope, his rpm shoot up high without any throttle input. After i learnt about engine braking in this preve thread, everything becomes clear. Lol.
