So far, my best town & highway FC would be 8.6L/100km. that is about averaged up to 1 - 2.5 hours of traffic jam daily basis.
But recently the traffic jam has gotten worst and now my FC is about 9.5L/100km.
Mine is CFE Preve with updated ECU/TCU.
But of cos it comes down to how your right foot is..the heavier the foot, the higher FC..
*
I've stopped caring about FC, haha. I made some discovery:

1. Home to office and back only consumes 8.3 L/100km
2. Travel inside my office complex, going uphill & downhill and lots of short trips consumes 11L/100km.

Looks like I have to bear the high FC until at least the end of this month.

Why travel inside my office complex? The complex is like university complex. Quite far between places I need to go to and I'm carrying things, my things that I need to carry (work related). So nothing I can do about it...

I did not reset the reading.
By the way 1k service I used syntium 1000 full synthetic i guess as recommended by the SC.

I don't think they do any reset ECU / TCU, tuning for my car during 1k service. As I went there on Saturday.

Was told Saturday only can do oil change. So I guess no tuning will be perform.
*
Syntium 1000 15W50? That oil is too thick. Proton recommends 10W30. So it is better to use Syntium 800 10W30 semi compared to Syntium 1000 fully.

As a guide, use xW30 or xW40, either fully or semi. Personally I am using Syntium 5000 0W30 fully. 10,000km OCI (oil change interval)

BTW, use of 15W50 will not damage your engine. Just that the engine will feel lethargic.

Yes I buy myself. Proton Edar SC in Bangi allows you to use your own engine oil.

I think Preve is also the same, RM99.70 per piece. Laser Iridium.

[All] Spark Plug PW910762 RM99.70

Guys, I'm getting very frustrated with the lack if GPS map update for our CFE.

I'm eyeing this: http://www.pioneer.my/ProductDetail/defaul...=1395&CatId=240

My priorities/requirements:

1. Good GPS with regularly updated maps (That means Papago, Garmin, iGo or Galactico maps from malfreemaps.com)
2. External mic for handsfree
3. Responsive UI.

Budget is max RM3k. If can get cheaper, more value for money, all the better.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

hi guys.

australian preve got 5 stars ancap bcoz 6 airbags.

what about malaysia? how much stars bcoz 4 airbag only?
*
5 stars still for frontal collision. The extra 2 airbags is for curtain air bag. Only used in side-impact accidents.

If Proton can retrofit the curtain airbags to our cars for around RM3k I would do it

Does the CVT get quietter over time? For my car, 1 year (I've already got new road tax & insurance) and 28,000 km, I do not find the CVT sound intrusive.

Is it really quieter or I've noise cancelled it in my head?

that should be your right anwser for your question. laugh.gif

for me the noisiness is still acceptable..since usually i drive while listening to radio.
*
Huh... guess the CVT sound doesn't bother me. I usually drive with a/c in low and no radio.

That is the result of the CVT. In "S" mode, it tends to stay at 5000 to 5500 rpm. Just pedal to the metal, and RPM *rapidly* increases to 5000 rpm. Then it will *slowly* increase to 5500 rpm. However the car speed will increase substantially. RPM has no direct correlation with car speed in CVT gearbox.

"S" mode is there to give max acceleration. But you have to bear the noise from the engine. Many have done max throttle in "S" mode to give best pickup to 190 kph, then "D" mode to further increase speed till 210 kph.

About the smell, it is normal for new cars. Everyone experienced them. But I don't really remember when it will go away. Perhaps after 1,000 km.

Tekan til 5k RPM already drop out of boost range, max torque is between 2k RPM and 4k RPM hmm.gif

Assuming it's CFE.
*
Max torque is at 2 - 4 k RPM. But max HP is at 5500 RPM. But anyway, that is the way the CVT3 is programmed.

Torque vs Horsepower: http://danielmiessler.com/study/horsepower/

I still haven't gotten my head around it completely after all these years.

whats even more horrifying is after the turtled car being "unturtled", it doesn't have any sign of it being turtled before.

After the 1,000km service, I find my CFE is a bit more fuel savvy compared to before tongue.gif

Generally FC for new cars stabilise after 10,000 km. Even Honda City gets bad FC at less than 1,000 km. My CFE is now 33,000+ km and I'm getting average 8.8 L/100km. That's mixed highway and town in Klang Valley.

Thanks for the information. Will try the Manual mode once I go to Genting for a one night stay. Last time I was going up Genting. I don't think the manual mode will come in useful when going downhill since it's mostly braking that's needed. When going uphill the manual mode might come in handy. I guess it takes a bit of practice to get to use the Manual gear effectively, since it's mainly based on "feel" to get the car at the rpm that we want.
*
The reason you use manual mode during downhill is so that you don't need to use the brakes too much. It gives engine braking, how much depends on which gear you choose.

I use manual mode more on downhill than uphill driving.

Ok, thanks for the tip. May I ask which gear was engaged when going downhill? 3? I was in Genting about 3 months ago. At that time when going downhill, I noticed every single car was going so fast downhill and I wonder how they do it. I can't seem to cope up with my Nissan Sylphy which seems to want to turn turtle with every bend.
*
Depends on your speed. I can't really remember cause I rarely use it, but I think 60 kph it is in gear 4.

Any rattling sound from dashboard and doors at your mileage above 30000km?

Last time when the Proton Waja was launched, Tengku Mahaleel described the car as the Asian BMW. Now the throne has been taken by the Preve. The Inspira can't have that title as it is essentially a Mitsubishi Lancer rebadge with some minor tweaks.

This Preve Turbo is surely one powerful car.
*
Mine is 34K now. So far so good. But I had something weird today. I filled with RON97, yet the car feel underpowered. But FC very good though, 7.1 L/100km. The 1st time I used RON97, around 2400 km, I felt instant power improvement. I think since my car has been using RON95 for so long, it need a bit of time to re-adjust the ignition timing to take advantage of RON97.

*
Yes... look at how *TINY* Preve HU screen is.

If the rumours are true, it is Android based.

What I wish my Preve had:
1. Suprima HU
2. Suprima tweeter cover (the tweeter itself I can get aftermarket)
3. Curtain airbags (How I REALLY wish my Preve had this)

Can anyone confirm this?
Does preve cfe come with proximity sensor?

This is true story happened to my friend.
He drive preve.

1. Went to the office and realize he forgot to bring the key. He can unlock the car and start the engine because his car is quite near with the living room where he keep the key. Distance between his house and office is around 30km. After he turn off the engine he can't start it back. He asked his dad to send the key. Lucky it is still near. What happened if he already travel more than 100KM?

2. He park his car at hotel's basement. Kinda rushing due to event. He took the key out (lock everything) but he forgot to turn off the engine. He didn't realize cos the engine is very quiet. After 2 hours the guard inform him about it.

I advice him to check with the SC cos I thought keyless key come with proximity censor? Why the engine did not turn off and give warning (as there is no key detected?) Is there anything wrong with his preve?
*
Something fishy here, sounds more like VW.

* To start Preve CFE you need to insert the keyfob into the slot, then can only start. After start you can take out the key.

* You can't lock a Preve with the driver's door opened, when the engine is running and door opened, with door closed and engine running with the remote.

* CFE engine is NOT quiet.
