Just when I was thinking of getting the Maxis home broadband package + Astro IPTV to enjoy more savings I read the dark side of this package and user reviews and feel it best to stick with Unifi until something more concrete comes up.

I still hope they come up with some ultimate package with maxis postpaid + mobile data + Home Fibre optic net + Astro package which translates to really good value for money. I will definitely sign up for something like tat (provided no unreasonable throttle here and there)

Anyone noticed this in Maxis' FAQ?

QUOTE
What is the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for my Fibre Internet service? What happens if I exceed my FUP?
Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is to ensure all customers can get good browsing experience and to prevent abusers from hogging the bandwidth, which can impact other user's experience. For the 10Mbps, the 100GB quota applies. If you have breached your allocated quota, your internet speed will be managed to ensure other users are not impacted. Your FUP will follow your subscribed package accordingly. Currently we offer unlimited quota download until further notice.

100GB quota but claimed they offer unlimited download quota. Contradicting themselves or what? doh.gif

Yea, I noticed they throttled even during day time. Unlike what was claimed by some forumers that throttling applies only during peak (e.g. 8pm-12pm).

Not true at all as my torrenting now with good seeds at 25-50kB+ only.

Do read the small note under package listing... It did say "Unlimited until further notice" similar to Unifi package...

Correct. By stating a 'unlimited quota' does not give them the right to place a 100GB cap when it clearly states 'unlimited'. Even Unifi does not have such caps.

Who say Unifi don't have..? Unifi VIP5 clearly say 60GB monthly... But AFAIK both Maxis & Unifi not implemented the cap yet...

So the 100GB quota is active or inactive?

yes... confirmed certain tracker not throttled...
they capped the speed of the well knowned trackers...
8pm to 12am is throttled at 56kBps max...

after than can go maximum...
but i think it is not fair to cap those who have not utilised the 100GB... if you exceed, then cap is fine...
