The poison running strong in my veins... hahaha! I started with the 7938 Passenger Train, then 7939 Cargo Train... 3677 Red Cargo Train and 10219 Maersk Train still in unopen box, waiting for free time to build again... wink.gif

I think 3677 will be the next set to be discontinued so better start planning! icon_idea.gif

Hi bro, current Lego City train sets still in production are:

10233 Horizon Express (Released year 2013)
3677 Red Cargo Train (Released year 2011)
7938 Passenger Train (Released year 2010)
7939 Cargo Train (Released year 2010)

Hmmm... so perhaps 7938 and 7939 should be coming to end of production soon and not 3677. Quite old already... haha! The release of 10233 Horizon Express should be an indication of the impending retirement of 7938 and 7939.

7938 and 7939 still very easy to find. Lots of stocks floating around and prices has come down to pretty much record low so it is the best time to pick up these sets. For anyone wanting to go into trains and especially Power Function trains, I'd say start with 7938 Passenger train. It's the most affordable train set out there period!

If you have the budget and want a more fun track layout (because the 7938 only comes with enough tracks to make a circular loop, read boring!) either buy 7939, 3677 or 10233 to go with it (this will be the best) or buy extra tracks.

Also do take note that straight tracks are hard to come by so you may want to focus on buying sets with straight tracks. In BrickLink straight tracks cost around RM5 and up while curved tracks is only asking for under RM1!

Hi guys,

I've been lurking around for quite a while. What can I say. I've been poisoned looking at pictures of the collections you guys have. I was a minifigures fans, but now, after hours of reading this thread, I'm a modular fan too.

Lego played a small part during my childhood but I can't remember much. So it all started when I went to a Lego shop in Frankfurt. Then, I didn't know that such store existed. I bought few key chains and minifigures set.

Last year, I was stuck in Houston for two months for training. The place I was staying is far away for attarctions that interest me. So I went to a nearby Lego store at least once in a week. There, I bought few Superheroes sets, mainly because of the minifigures. I always bring minifigures with me whenever I go. In my bag now, I have a Sandtrooper, a Batman, an Ironman, and a Bilbo Baggins.

Now, I'm back in the US for a month. I just went to a Lego store in NYC, and man, I am hooked with modular sets. But I shall resist, as I'm planning to buy few Superheroes and Star Wars sets. Perhaps, I want to collect all available Batman versions.

It's such a lengthy introduction, isn't? I don't intend to offend any sellers/members here. I am aware that few members here do CS once in a while. I intend to bring few sets back with me, if anyone is interested. I'll be back in Malaysia at the end of April. Again, I apologise if I offend anyone here. If so, I'll scrap this plan and keep following (lurking, posting, pictures) this thread.

I'll post pictures when I decide what sets to buy.

But i thought Horizon Express doesn't come with tracks?
My concern for Horizon Express is, it doesn't come with power function ready.

I know they have an extension kit for that, but would means my cost will be higher.
Since its my 1st train, and i kinda like passenger train's design. I'll get it tongue.gif
