ijan hows the 895 vs the HD555
*

if i'm guessing correctly, the HD555 is better than the HP-895. guess you can't hope more at double the pricepoint.

Hey guys,

Here are some pics of my first ever cable job, I call them my Koss Monsters.

They're hanging with my Grado SR60s on my homemade stand that my girlfriend actually helped with (hense the little heart).

Here are the details:
Koss KSC75 Driver
Kramer modded screen
Koss PortaPro headband
Sennheiser HD414 Pads reversed
Vishay BCC 75Ohm resistors across +/- leads
Magami 2534 Quad
Canare F-12 Mini

too many fan club edi..

neways, no way in hell is 805 better (or as good for the sake of conversation) than 895, tested both n the difference is there, worth the extra rm100..i think wat the mikechai is saying the ksc75 compared to SHP805.
*
The KSC-75 does beat the SHP805 IMHO, just not significantly. That's with amplification.
The SHP805 is more neutral, flat, boring or whatever. The Koss is more colored, engaging and more fun to listen to. KSC-75 is also harder to drive than the SHP805. Would like to see what PcWork thinks.

*edit*
Both the KSC-75 and SHP805 not fully burned in yet. KSC-75 about 5 hours, SHP805 about 1 hour only.

*update 15/04/2006*
The SHP805 is getting better after more burn in. So things might change.

Got my KSC-75. Thanks CooBra.

Yah bad packaging, nice sounding headphones.

As good as it sounds straight out from my ESI U24, it sounds even better on the mini-EPH amp.

I don't find it sounds like a Grado though on my system....
*
Can't wait to test that combo. I'm waitting for the amp to arrive instead the headphone. Been using it almost 1 year already. Sound good un-amped with my sony pcdp but with av710 + Edifier HA11 i'd prefer my hp800 better.

Overall, what i hate most is the messy meggi mee cable. Any suggestion for mod?

pre-burn (do I even need to burn it in? o_O) listening session,

nice bass, sounds a little bright(er?) than my SR-60.

aih....seems like ive lost 3 phones...time to order them again....i wonder what should i do with them if all 6 of them turn up at the same time LOL.

btw, the ksc75's diafragm is titanium coated, guess it is pretty darn hard when it's new. I suspect burning it in will indeed reduce the brightness. Afai am concerned, I did not think the ksc75 to be very bright smile.gif but the unit i tested was well used.

by the way, the new KOSS sounds very very coloured, and long time of useage can be very fatigue.
in term of bass producing, koss have better bass, and even better treble (a bit harsh for me). and it is very very "grado" sound, which firing every music straight to your ear. and sound stage is quite narrow.

for HP800,
bass is a bit weaker and roll off seems to be very obvious compare to koss. but anyway, with hp800, i can listen music more than 3 hours, but koss i have to take it down after 2 hours.
and sound stage is much more wider than koss.
and HP890 surely beats koss im my ear.. =P

if u try to listen to the stax headphone tester (dummy head recording) with Hp800, u can feel that the sound is 3D and musical instrument can be position in 360 degree around you.
but if you listen it through koss, you can only feel left and right sound. no 3D.

the phones are rather comfortable but a bit hard to put on though.. pull a clip off and went... OMG!!! lucky i managed to put it back
whaahha

this is the 1st hour after burning in..
dun really hear much difference but then, the bass is becoming more defined...
it seems tht this phones produces clear crisp sound and quality bass instead of those thumping bass.... suit me very well...
lets see what will happen after a few more days ya... but too bad my ipod cant stand so many days...
is it ok to change to my pc to burn in the sounds?

Ahaha...that's what happened to me within the first 10 mins after i got back home with them laugh.gif
Was thinking, of crap...i broke another pair of Koss sweat.gif

Burned them in for many hours now, while testing my Mini's battery tongue.gif
I'm not too sure about this since my "audio memory" is crap, but i think the highs aren't that sharp anymore

sweat.gif seems like a few of us r having problem putting on the phones at the beginning, including me.i was wondering at first whether the clips can be twisted or not but soon found out that it can't.fortunately i didn't tear the phones in pieces whistling.gif
the phones fits tightly, won't fall off even if u shake ur head wildly but may cause some discomfort when taken off after long usage.it's one of the problems with clips but this seems ok for the mean time.

lol i didnt pull it off the first time i used it. i just find it kinda funny coz the thing doesnt move at all...just pivot left and right a little laugh.gif then i figured i just need to loop it over my ears. anyway you guys can detatch the ear hook and bend it to whatever shape u want to fit ur ears smile.gif the ksc35's ear hook can;t be bent without a heatgun biggrin.gif

u can burn in with whatever u want...it doesnt matter. burning them in at higher volume will speed up the process. Assuming the phone is rated 32ohm, if you listen to a volume of 1 V (dun ask me how i got this..u need a multimeter to test it) the phone draws 31mA, if you burn it in at 2 V it draws twice the current and speeds up the burn in process by one more fold.

well when it comes to this question, it's all about common sense tongue.gif

just put it at the loudest volume you'd listen to, the phone can take more punch than ur ears. btw, my listening volume is at least 2 X higher than a friend of mine...so....it's not a very good gauge...but it's one way to determine the volume.
