I've had my fair share of incidences with road rage as well.
I get enraged very easily, especially when I'm alone in the car. I've been known to swerve in front of cars and slam the brakes. I'm not proud of it and I realise it is stupid to let garbage drivers ruin my day and risk my car and myself. It's just not worth it. But if I nearly get killed or have my car damaged because of someone's stupidity, it really is hard to accept. I've had cases where I'm on the middle lane of a three lane highway. There are an additional two layby lanes on the left of the highway for cars who are joining the highway. It was raining very heavily. This idiot pick up truck driver camps at the point where the layby joins the highway. He waits until I'm roughly 10 to 15 meters from him before he jumps across perpendicular to the highway to the middle lane and presses the brakes. Thankfully I managed to avoid skidding my car from braking and there were no cars on my right, allowing me to swerve to the right lane. I never let go of the honk and showed him the middle finger. You know how he reacted? He stared at me and showed the finger and sped off. How not to get enraged? |

I wasn't even driving fast. I was driving around 80 - 90.
Sigh. I try to keep my rage in check, but sometimes, I just lose it. If only there was a way to remove emotions from the human brain. |

How not to get enraged? i feels like an idiot too eventho i want to act intelligently. if there haven't any accident or hand to hand fighting then it's good that's why i don't react when that guy give gestures and getting out of his car.. even if others will think i'm scared, i jz want to get to my office and starts working.. i jz honk jz to let him know he'd done something wrong. i somehow wrongly chose excessive long honk and this kind of people jz don't care to use their car as weapon or endanger their life and their passengers and this is my 1st time encountering these kind of people. A lot of confessions today from you guys. Confession is good for the soul
I think the last time I sat on the horn for an extended time was last year, on 14 August. It was my final day in PJ, my tenancy had expired and I was moving back to Penang, my Gaga was loaded full of stuff. It was about 4 pm and I was at the end of the LDP turning left onto the Sungai Buloh road to join PLUS at the Sungai Buloh toll. As you guys in KL know, that is a single lane sliproad. A Merc B Class was right on my tail and tried to overtake as the road was getting narrower. For a split second I weighed the options. To block, or to move? If I blocked I might cause an accident. I have no more place to stay and I had a 350 km drive back to Penang, I was very tired from packing up during the past few days (in fact I was so tired that later I pulled into a layby and took a short nap, never done that before previously) and I didn't want to end up with a damaged car and a visit to the police station, plus the possibility of making further trips to KL again. So I relented. I braked, moved to the left and let him pass, but I sat on the horn for a while to cause a scene. I didn't chase him though. I guess, as I said earlier, the mere thought of experiencing accident damage, the hassle thereafter and maybe even an assault in person, is enough to keep me cool and let go. The horn is more than enough for me, I've never ever shown the finger at anyone before, ever. This post has been edited by lhwj: Mar 20 2013, 11:40 AM |
