did a quick research on google, seems like there's no significant difference in the exterior of a locust and grasshoppers, only the behaviors can separate them smile.gif

Google says its the short horn type grasshopper in the tropics, they live solitary but when theres a population explosion, they will form a swarm known as locust, very destructive on plants & vegetation. The last I heard this year was in Madagascar, few months back.

Interesting, I thought grasshopper and locust only looks alike but are different creature. Time to summon bug sifu

Tried using raynox b4 but it reduce the sharpness lo..
Anyway using 14-54mm mk2 to take macro good enuff. When i zoom in still sharp sharp
*
the 12-40 is doing well, but I am hungry for magnification haha. it's not limiting though, just require more work to get clearer macro picture. looks like the raynox isn't worthy for me since I can't live with reduced sharpness sad.gif

Love your photo collection too.
This 500px is a competition website?

Love my EP5 more. Just lacking the time to walkaround and snap photo.
Love the 17mm more than the 14-42mm.  tongue.gif

Also borrowed from a friend and try 45mm F1.8, the photo is sharp and  thumbup.gif
*
nah not a competition website, it's built for pro photographers to showcase their photos and get clients but at the end everyone post their images on it tongue.gif

haha would like to try out EP5 one day, Oly produced too many good cameras.

QUOTE(bobds78 @ Nov 4 2014, 04:26 PM)
Ya, Olympus has been relentless in making good bodies since day one and I still has my very first m43 the Ep1. But since last year I had jumped over to the Panasonic camp, after selling the Ep3 for lack of an EVF, which I crave so much over the years. But I still keep the Ep1.

I had GX1, then GF1 & next was the G2, which I love so much, I sold it off to move to GX7 now. And I think Panasonic really nail it this time. And with the new GM series, things are really looking good for m43, unbelievable how far M43 has grown.

I am looking forward to the day when the pen series would get an EVF.
*
QUOTE(67zai @ Nov 4 2014, 04:48 PM)
I personally think that Olympus and Panasonic should stop making bodies, should focus on doing more lens. we need more ultra wide angle lens ~~ how I wish we have UWA with constant aperture..
*
Actually I am satisfied with the number of lenses with m4/3 already, they created good lenses at a fair price. Everyone still waiting the day you can actually use m4/3 for serious sports occasion, the em1 and gh4 are getting there.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Nov 4 2014, 06:28 PM)
when the time comes that m43 can be used for sports with fast tracking, and the flash systems are comparable to DSLR...then only will i ditch all my nikon gear...until then i keep half half...shorter side for m43 tongue.gif
*
haha when this day arrives, the dslr will slowly walk towards extinction, or should I say only a little amount of people will buy it like Medium format.

went for a quick check for the 12-40 price, and found this.

http://www.priceme.com.my/Olympus-OM-D-E-M...-889139715.aspx

pretty good deal for the 4k one, em5+1240. considering the 1240 is around 3k, so the em5 is 1k+ only?

it's ok i thnik? roughly f2 on FF which still gives you a bit of DOF to manual focus. using it under bright sunlight will be impossible though.

By the way, anyone knows how to disengage exposure preview mode when using flash? Or is it impossible?

Tested EM5 too, but sharpness, color and speed are slower than GX7, dont really like it. For noise handling GX7 did pretty well even on high ISO, anti shaking body but most of my lens has Power OIS so not really into consideration. I think they really need revolution on micro 4/3.

what else do you think to be improved?

as for myself I think m43 is pretty good already, beats DSLR in a lot aspects.

not sure how much gx7 had improved but I dislike gx1 colour rendering. a little too greenish for me . but m43 I think they already doing well for their bodies but that is just me since photography is only a hobby to me. what im hoping is more 3rd party UWA lens like how tamron, sigma and tokina manufacture some affordable UWA lens for APSC.
*
yeap, the AWB of the gx1 is quite off for me too. Tried my friend's unit before, had to readjust the WB on every picture.

participation of 3rd party would be really awesome, but it takes some time imo for them to step into m4/3 since the piece of cake over dslr market is still bigger. m4/3 lenses aren't that expensive for the quality it provides actually, most of the lenses have good quality, just the build is on the plasticky side (for example the 2k+ pana 45 macro).

3rd party makers are sitting on the fence and watch, apprehensive for fear of unprofitable products, only miserable few have tried. But I am pretty sure they are monitoring the market very closely. Mirrorless and m43 in particular, has been making headlines time and again.
*
it's a little hard for them to step into m4/3 league I think, unless they make a cheaper all in one zoom, that's the point they start to invade dslr at first I think.

Sigma did d first step by releasing 19mm anf 30mm f2.8 in very cheap price smile.gif
Give them sometime, I am pretty sure they'll jump off from the fence once m43 proven is one of the future.

Next year new OMD coming and it gonna be awesome (from my trusted source)!

Tamron does have a 14-150mm lens for m43s.  Slightly cheaper than the native superzooms.

Problem is third party is quite quiet with their mirrorless releases you sometimes don't know they exist.
*
yeap, the market isn't there yet for them. so it they try to advertise it, there will be money losing only. they are still working hard on dslr lineup of lenses, same with sigma.

How bout better or below better lens?

you can get kit lenses + closeup filter (cheap but not so good in sharpness) or raynox (rm300-400 but decrease a little sharpness in comparison) and it's done. what are you main subject by the way? (insects? flowers? products?)

saw quite a few people using the 40-150 + raynox (below rm1k) and got good results biggrin.gif

So... did something while I was bored with preparing Sejarah for SPM.

I always liked playing with lighting and shooting products. Suddenly felt inspired after looking at some beer advertisements and decided to try it myself.

Takes a lot of experiment before I finally get the shot I want. For the setup of lighting, it's very simple. Only 1 phone flashlight mounted on a little octobox then I guessed the lighting by using Live Comp. Damn, I really loved Live Comp, especially when I can see where my light is heading. Enough of talking, time to show picture tongue.gif

i tried kitlens (lumix14-45) with closeup filter and raynox(borrowed), the 4 corners have distortion and chromotion effect. And kit lens is f3.5 or 4, so a bit hard to get higher light in dim area. Also got use flash, I think need diy some diffuser on it. Didn't get a sharp image and colour was abit dull.

I wanted to know if there is any old lens recommendation, preferably f2 or 2.8..... but budget around 500 or lower.....
*
well it still depends on what you shoot. flash is almost a must if you goes for higher magnification. even when using the 1240mm at 40mm closest focusing distance, I need something like f4 or f5.6 to get good enough DOF unless the focusing plane is flat like the side of a bug.
