Zuiko 12-40 f2.8 now price at 2.5k? Any recommendation to get that price in kl?
*
i saw someone selling at this price before for new unit, not sure if still exist at GS. it's a very rare lens anyways and luckily I got my unit used at 2.1k only.

QUOTE(bobds78 @ Oct 11 2014, 11:04 AM)
Agreed, m43 has much better lenses line-up than any of the mirrorless camps. And the Zeiss 24/1.8 e-mount is damn expensive. Another alternative to along this range is the Samyang e-mount 24/1.4, which is manual focus. This lens beats me, coz using it on the a6k is a shame on the a6k's supposedly fastest AF. I wouldn't slap it on the a6k all-time as its a waste of a6k's AF.

And about design, personally, i still prefer the PEN series design, I wish someday they'll put an EVF and an articulating Lcd, yes an articulating Lcd, i just love this feature when I first touch on it on a Canon G11 years ago and recently on an G2. Its so useful,  evf & articulating Lcd.
*
PEN looks really retro and elegant. Adding the articulating screen will kill the whole design imo, all the better looking cameras out there only using tiltable screen i think. hmm.gif

@mingyuyu I think the ecg1 grip is very useful for you since yr lens is heavier. I don't know why it is Rm298 so expensive.. I got mine much cheaper from SG.
*
yeap, that would totally helps. but at that price it is still unreasonable for me. sad.gif
QUOTE(bobds78 @ Oct 11 2014, 11:46 AM)
At this point in time, technology probably allows only limited tilting capabilities, I can foresee articulating Lcd as thin as they can be on pen series, looking at recent developements in smartphones where the thickness is getting slimmer by each release, i can only assume same technology will migrate to mirrorless soon. Hopefully soon drool.gif

Frankly, the Pen series is my 1st love of the m43 format. I stopped at Ep3, since not much came along. And criss-crossing between gf1/g2/epl2/ep2. The recent Ep5 doesn't entice me either, as I have acquired the use of EVF & articulating lcd along the way laugh.gif
*
how about getting external EVF for your PEN cameras? i think oylmpus makes amazing external EVF right?

Third party grip, cheap nice and they do ship to here.
*
wah quite a lot cheaper than original olympus grip.

anyone knows where to get 3rd part em10 battery? i found the battery life to be quite poor, lasting only half day of my shooting.

Try here:

eBay

I always buy my battery there, under the DSTE brand name. Very reliable. The higher number mAh denotes bigger longer power.
*
wonder why olympus only put in so less amount of capacity into a battery that big. only 1k mAh, which is way lesser than a smartphone.

The Olympus cameras uses the USB port as shutter release right? I wonder if any adapter out there that can convert 2,5mm port into USB port? I have my awesome yongnuo rf603 wireless release left from my dslr system but i don't wanna waste money to purchase a new set of release.

QUOTE(syngen @ Oct 13 2014, 08:32 PM)
Hi Guys,

Wanted to get your collective opinions. Would appreciate if all the sifu's could chime in smile.gif

I have options to purchase the below, feeling rather conflicted right now. Not sure which is better.

Option 1: Olympus E-P5 Bundle @ RM 2600
- Oly EP-5 Body
- Oly 17mm f/1.8
- Oly 14-42mm Kit Lens (non-EZ)
- FOC 8GB Class 10 + Bag
- Option to PWP VF-4 @ RM 650

Option 2: Olympus E-PL7 Bundle @ RM 2350
- Oly E-PL7 Body
- Oly 14-42mm EZ Kit Lens
- Oly 40-150mm Zoom
- Oly Auto-Shutter Cap for EZ lens
- FOC 16GB Class 10 + Bag + Leather Strap

EP-5 Pros:
- 5-Axis IBIS
- Extra Dial
- 2x2 dials switching
- Built-in Flash
- 1/8000s shutter speed
-
EP-5 Cons:
- 35-point autofocus
- Truepic VI Image Engine
- Firmware features slightly behind E-PL7 (ie. Live Composite, Extra Art Filters etc)
- Slightly heavier

E-PL7 Pros:
- 81-point autofocus
- Truepic VII Image Engine
- 180-degree swivel LCD
- Selfie mode
- Extra art filters
- Slightly lighter

E-PL7 Cons:
- 3-Axis IBIS (vs 5-Axis for EP-5)
- 1/4000s shutter speed
- No Built-in Flash

Please note, only considering E-P5 vs E-PL7, not considering E-M1/E-M5/E-M10.

All opinions much appreciated...! smile.gif

Thanks...

if you can read chinese, then this review is worth for a read.

the elp7 looks quite promising in terms of build quality too.

I will go for the ep5 + 17mm + EVF option though. it's a lot cheaper now compared to when it first launched. this combo would be nice for shooting street/ travel and maybe landscape. personally I would avoid the 14-42 but if you need the range/ zoom then go for it by any means. the 17mm certainly is more worthy to keep than the 14-42 (it's very hard to sell kit lens when you want to upgrade).

yea EPL7 sensor same with EM5. In fact EP5 and EM10 also using EM5 sensor with EM10 and EPL7 using EM1 image processing engine. EM1 sensor is made by Pana though tongue.gif
Look for next year, EM5 replacement. Hopefully it will come with new sensor
*
well 2 years is nothing compared to Canon *cough* 5 years old sensor (first seen on 7D). the sensor is still very awesome for something that small, wins over Canon APSC in dynamic range and high iso easily.

easiest way would be registering at Flickr for free 1TB of uploading space.

Some photos I took for fun in Kuantan last week (5th October 2014).
All shots are JPG SOOC, don't take raw coz takes up too much space and my PP skills are non-existent.
Pix have been re-sized to save space.

Gear used: Olympus OM-D E-M1 with either Oly 12-40mm, Panny 35-100mm or Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye.

Deep in contemplation...

awesome gears (my dream em1 and 35-100 haha)!

But most of your pictures look too wide imo, getting closer to the subject will convey a stronger message. also lowering the shooting angle until parallel with subject's eyes will improve your pictures as well, especially shooting animals.

just my opinions hope it helps smile.gif

No la not really heavy. Sweat coz it was hot at Dogathon laugh.gif

Another little information, my Yongnuo RF603 actually works on the em10 without any modification required. Just that you need to leave out the last 2 pins on the trigger when mounting then the camera can detect it. Not very reliable method though, disconnected in the middle of shooting many times.

It will be awesome if i got 40-159mm f2.8 biggrin.gif

That dream lens o.o started to wish I have little more distance between insects when shooting closest with the 1240 already haha. Just realized I might be able to get a 60mm + 45mm if sell my 1240, but really need the range for now.

BTW, is it supposed to have v7 thread already?
