im doing 100% EQ also now... not going to touch the money if the market crash before my exit plan, until the market recover with some gain... FI or bond is just too slow, learn the lesson from my GEM bond fund
*
mind to share, why you select GEM bond previously?

because I was based on 60%:40% (Low Risk: High Risk), then balance my over-weight MY Bond to other regions Bond Fund... end up I loss 5% on GEM bond and based on the fund performance data, the fund only will make 1~2% profit after 1 year...  laugh.gif
so I now doing 100% EQ
*
ok, thanks for the reply, thumbup.gif
from the FSM fund info, i observed that "most" of the bond funds are even better then some of the Eq funds
some of the Eq funds had been in RED for many years...
just becareful on yr selections..good luck

warren buffet have this to said
"”Equities will do well over time — you just have to avoid getting excited when other people are getting excited.”

"Four or five times during their lifetimes, [investors will] see incredible opportunities probably in equity markets … [they] have to have the mental fortitude to jump in when most are jumping out.”

yea, those that can be GREEN all time for 10 ~ 15 years will only be paying about the same as inflation rate/FD rate

Yup, I got keep 20% cash in DP + 3month emergency fund... if the market crash I use the 20% to tembak, if no then I execute exit plan  icon_rolleyes.gif  and move to the next level ( to invest in Real estate brows.gif )
*
yes, just my thought on this....emergency fund....which normally they say keep 3 ~ 6 mths
3 months is just the minimum i guess, provided one is highly capable of getting back the type of job with almost the same perks they had lost in these short time, else, i would say, keep as much as possible....cos you will never know when you will be employed again at the same perks you had had.

OSK-UOB Emerging Opportunity Unit Trust

*
cannot be GOOD all time.[COLOR=red]
from their annual report
kenangga growth Dec 2007 down almost 40% till Dec 2008 then break even on Dec 2009
Hwang select Opp Jul 2007 down almost 30% till Dec 2008 then break even on Dec 2010
Osk-Uob Emerging Opp about the same amount of drop at almost that time.......

From my understanding, previous years this fund was managed by external party by Hwang. From June 2012 onwards, Hwang too it back and manage in-house.
*
hmm.gif interesting info...
thks,

just a note: i think there is a 1% repurchase charge if the fund is sold off within the 1st 6 mths

so OSK GEM bond still worth to keep topping up? keep losing lately..
*
it just depends on why you selected it?

here are a few quotes from Warren Buffett.... .

If you aren't willing to own a stock for ten years, don't even think about owning it for ten minutes.

Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.

Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1.

I never attempt to make money on the stock market. I buy on the assumption that they could close the market the next day and not reopen it for five years.

U sound like a pro...why still bother with UTs? With your capital, u could easily build a portfolio of KLSE dividend stocks hmm.gif
*

experienced not to go into stock....even though got some wonderful gains from stock previously.
not knowing what is happening behind the boardroom where the CEO and their cronies are planning

just wanted a nice sleep...let them (IM) to do worrying
the trade of for that...lesser income

kk.. i wont sell la.. my amount not big.. just maybe i switch my topup to other stuffs. bond wise i focus on HSB.
*
just my opinion,..
why HSB and not RHB Bond
lipper fund volatility rating, FSM risk rating, 3 year risk rating, 3 yrs Sharpe Ratio rating and ave returns points to RHB bond.

only the fund size of RHB concerns me.

U did not read the fine print brows.gif

HwangIm did currency hedging...so that effectively HSB's exposure to forex risk is only 15-20%, not meaning that their foreign holdings is only 15-20%

As for forex hedging...I gave all back to my lecturer already, sendiri go google tongue.gif
*
wah,..so deep one.....so many things to read rclxub.gif doh.gif sweat.gif ....
i think i will stick with the lipper fund volatility rating, FSM risk rating, 3 year risk rating, 3 yrs Sharpe Ratio rating and ave returns points for funds selection until i kena tembak sad.gif cry.gif

you SIFUs,
just reading your post since y'day, i got the feeling that you are doing the rebalancing of yr portfolio frequently....let me guess, you set a target for each fund...if it reaches/fall below a target, you sell off/top up the different.
am i right, how often do you do that?

Malaysian equity is having a good time.
I have kenanga growth, es al ilham, hwang aiman +6 to 11%
should I sell to lock in the profit or leave it?
*
depends of why you buy it.
just a though, if you hd bought gold in 2004 and by 2007 you had made a profit 200% and sold...you would missed another 400% ROI
just a thought...cos it might go in reverse order.
what is your faith/beliefs on the funds that you hd .
