Looking for car seat with ISOFIX.......then come across this MYDEAR brand model 30018 (with isofix) just cost rm400, where other brand almost cost ~1k (with isofix feature)!

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/my-dear-...N5MIqE&search=1

Anyone use this car seat before? Where is this MYDEAR brand comes from? Is it OEM from china?

Child is 1 yr old now, but wanted to get the car seat suitable from newborn-few years old, for future's baby.

Car is b-segment sedan cars (vios / city).

Hi All,

As this is my first time buying car seat, would like to have some opinion & recommendation from you all.

1) What car are u driving? - Old persona elegance/Honda City 2011
2) U planning to use seat belts or isofix/latch? - latch, as both car do not have isofix
3) Are u planning to have more than 1 child car seat at the car rear seats? - yes, will have 2 car seat
4) What are your priorities in sequence? Safety & budget around 700.

I saw koopers quite cheap, but I'm a bit reluctant on it since first is local made, secondly never heard of its name.

Hi Foxngn,

Isofix and latch is referring to the same thing. In USA, they usually called it latch. That means u are looking for a child car seat that does not require isofix feature, am i right? After installing two child car seats, do u need to squeeze in an adult at the rear seats too?

owh, haha. I didn't know that.
yes, i looking for those that doesn't require isofix feature.

Most likely I won't squeeze another adult at rear, but can't say for sure yet.
Rear car baby seat will be seated with 2 years old toddler & a newborn baby.

If u are really planning to squeeze an adult comfortably at the rear, u need to get those narrow child car seats (width around 17inch). Unfortunately i havent seen any narrow child car seats sold in Malaysia. My child car seats are Diono Radian RXT and R120. These child car seats are narrow type and i purchased from Ebay US but they are not cheap. Around Rm1800 for one. Malaysia used to sell Diono Radian RXT but they no longer sell it now. Heard the price was around Rm1500+. Some of these child car seats requires alot of rear legroom but i believe your Honda City should have no problem. Therefore do consider if u really need to fit in an adult at the rear or not.

Do read post #614 which i wrote in this thread for more child car seat information.

I am sorry I am unable to advise u which child car seats to purchase because I only have experience with Diono, Graco, Britax and Chicco child car seats. These child car seats are mostly priced > Rm1000. Usually I will recommend people to get Chicco NextFit Zip during Chicco Warehouse sales (around Rm1100) but it seems like they no longer sell this model during their warehouse sales.

There are alot of brands in Malaysia. Some are well known brands worldwide and some are not. If u have notice, mostly those well known brands have alot of reviews and some even have internal crash ratings but they are sold expensively in Malaysia. But that doesn't necessarily mean that those unknown brands are unsafe.
Therefore in order for u to find the best bang of buck child car seat which is safe and fit into your budget, i suggest u to find:
1) Convertible child car seat (can rear-facing and forward facing)
2) Highest max weight for rear-facing. (>40 pounds for rear-facing is considered very good)
3) Good side impact protection
4) Crash tested according to safety standards
5) No Isofix/latch feature

Hi, did you eventually get this seat? As i'm looking into it as well. There appears to be 2 variants and I'm a bit confused as to their differences. There's the Halford Zeus XT 360 and the Halford Zeus XT. I understand that the "360" means it swivels.. But doesn't the non-360 tagged seat also swivel? rclxub.gif

What I'm seeking is that is supports both rear and front-facing for newborns and can swivel to face the car door, to easily strap the baby in and remove.. Turning to either rear or front facing when on the go.. Help from others are most appreciated. Also, any better yet similarly priced car seats wit hthe same features and safety in that price range? Thanks.

I didn't. After get to touch and try the material, incomparable with other premium brands like Graco or Joie.
No doubt the price for the Halford is quite a bang for bucks with the features it has.

Yeah there's a difference. We planned to buy the extra cushions and or use comfy towels to provide better support and comfort.. hence our original interest. Will keep looking around then. Thanks.

Well, i love Chicco NextFit Zip, easily open to wash and also can accommodate bigger toddler. Unfortunately, that time i wanna buy the price already increased to RM1,500.00 which is last year. For those unknown brand like lately heavily promoted and discount price "Royal Kiddy London", "Skandis" from Singapore, claimed that their seats has meet or pass the UNECE certified, but im doubt because i tried to search around the internet, nothing has mentioned that "Royal Kiddy London" has passed any test. So if anyone expert here can enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried fitting 2 of these narrower car seats and an adult into the back row of your car? I'm expecting a 2nd child soon and so am thinking about doing this and am wondering about whether this is possible to avoid going the 3 row SUV/MPV route. My household will have 3 adults and 2 kids. I'm thinking of getting a Camry/Accord size car if I can get away with it but I am worried about not being able to get a smallish adult comfortably into the back row without squishing the two car seats right up against the car door (which I understand is a no-no safety wise) to make space for an adult. It would be great if someone who has tried this before share their experience! confused.gif hmm.gif

Yes, i fitted 2 narrow child car seats (Diono Radian Rxt and Diono Radian R120) at the left side and middle side in my Honda city 2014. A full size adult can sit comfortably at the back. I suggest u to put the middle child car seat at rear facing position so the adult shoulder and arm can rest comfortably.
I can even fit 3 narrow child car seats (Diono Radian rxt and two Diono Radian R120) at the rear seats on my Honda city.

Thanks for the feedback! That's good to know. I think I'll go for the Diono Radian 3R then. How has your experience been with the models that you are using?
