From what i hear for new borns you use a different one and after 6 months u use a diff one.

I was lucky my friend lent me his (Halford) for the first 6 months and when my boy outgrew it we bought a Joie for (RM 800 plus) which i canuse from now until 4 years. I like the seat no complaints

For my experience, any car seat would be fine, as long as suite your budget. The most important thing you must make sure your kid use it, no matter if your kid want to stay in it or not. Push your kid to use it, after that, even though you are not using it ( ride on others car) your kid will behave, sit silently. This is base on my personal experience .

I am searching car seat for my 9 months old baby. She is very active, and cannot seat quietly for most of the time.

Is anyone here know whether this kind of carseat can put on Myvi's front seat? Is this safe for 9 months old baby? My husband planning to fetch my baby to nanny house before he go to work on the morning, and the journey will take about 1 hour.

Absolute NO.

This is front facing car seat to be put at rear seat.

Always remember thts its very dangerous to put ur baby at the front seat sweat.gif

Jus strap her to the seat..pile toys or games for her to play. It may sound cruel but once she gets used to it..u'll be fine biggrin.gif

i want to tumpang asking in this thread.

I would like to ask those mama and papa out there.

1) do you consider ISOFIX car seats?
2) Or you would just buy a normal belt seat.

If anyone could answer.

What is the main function of an ISOFIX car seat?

Is it for safety during collision? or is it just for convenience of fitting and removing the car seat?

I am dam confused because my initial plan was to buy a car seat with ISOFIX.

Last night Maxi-Cosi demo to me Belt type is just as good.

very confused now. please help.

When my children below 1year old. I put baby basket in the front passenger seat & let them lay beside me when I driving. Newborn children feel more comfortable when they lay at a flat baby basket as compare to sit at 45 degree car seat or carrier

The safety must be taken into account, especially when an accident/collision occurs. During accident, the occupants will be 'thrown' to the front. Let's consider these scenarios :

1) Kid/Baby facing front in car-seat
- Force will be on the kid's front, specifically where the seat-belt is.
- Head (which is much heavier in ratio) will be thrown to the front. On top of this, a baby's neck muscles are not fully developed, and may hurt.

2) Baby lying down
- Need to study the seat-belt structure and how it straps the baby

3) Baby facing back in car-seat
- This is recommended, as during collision, the force will be on the baby's back.
- Check out EU's recommendation for clearer explanation

IMHO, it is both for safety an convenience.

Why safety ? If one installs the s.belt wrongly on the car seat, it is as good as not having the s.belt

It is was me, i would not use the ISOFIX. Just use the normal baby car seat using normal s.belt. You can easily transfer it to other cars and pass-it-on to others. Baby/Kids grow fast, and mine out-grew it within 8 months.... In other words, More practical.

Hi Jex, thank you for the response. I am quite lost. If in a front collision of an accident. Will the ISOFIX have a better chance of secure compare to Seat belt.

Looking at the seat belt technology by Maxi Cosi, it makes isofix not that important. BTW, for ISOFIX seats you could use them in cars without isofix. using the seat belt.

Definitely with isofix, ur car seat is secure more firmly. First, it do not slide forward when u do emergency brake. Together with the seat belt, it function more effectively. U could refer to cybex model over YouTube etc.
However, it is not saying car seat without isofix is not good but since u already have the isofix points, might well u utilise it.
Dear parents, do not let ur child play in the front passenger seat as it is dangerous.
