i brought my MTB back from London when i left, just used the cardboard box they usually ship in. no problems. buy insurance if u want but i did not need to. it is a question of whether you will be overweight or not. why bring when you can rent?
*
Go for 3 months or more, rent? $

Other question, need to decompress shocks/forks? Wonder will the shock/fork leak due to differential since I think cargo compartment is not pressurized?

ok, no need to depressurize fork/shocks. Tires maybe... darn I'm using tubeless.

Here is a nice bike bag...

Some of us in here use 160mm with 66 degree for long distance off-road ride. I think ok je. Maybe lock-out the rear shock if it gets too tiring. Or make it stiffer.
*
Itu u only... Ha! ha!

Having a long travel bike for an XC will surely make it more difficult.
Until today... there is no 1 bike for all. But like Cyphereza... there is a 1 man for all.

So... to be save... to ride on XC and be able to enjoy trail... go for a 5" travel...

QUOTE(eohl79 @ Dec 2 2013, 08:25 PM)
Anybody checked in their bike on a plane before? Need info on how you pack them and get it checked in. Want to take my bike to US. Also do you pay for insurance, etc. Afraid it might go missing on transit.
*
Go to any bike shop, ask for the cardboard box... pack exactly like how they too it out.
U got to check in as oversized luggage.
Many travelled overseas for ride trip and no prob. And usually oversized luggages are handles quite gently compared to your normal luggage.

QUOTE(yeohsheng @ Dec 3 2013, 07:40 AM)
i wonder is there any girl rider here? wanna ask things about the biking cloth(pant)
