just received a reply from park tool. it's SW-0 spoke wrench. i have the multi-sided spoke wrench, but the bladed spoke gets in the way. can't can't turn the nipples freely because of the bladed spoke

QUOTE(timothyy @ Jul 17 2013, 12:09 PM) Hi guys... When u step into a bike shop... whether u are buying or just updating your product knowledge... What do you expect from the shop? 1. no overly attached salesmen 2. price tags on all items 3. items displayed can be touched and held 4. shops should be willing to quote discounted prices over the phone/FB/email. some shops will only give quotation if u personally go to their shops This post has been edited by miaopurr: Jul 17 2013, 12:19 PM

QUOTE(cjseng @ Jul 17 2013, 11:15 PM) For a week of bikes shopping, have short listed 2 bikes (1) scott scale 650 (26' wheel) http://www.scott-sports.com/ca/en/products...CB214E489C07E49(2) merida big seven xt-edition (27.5' wheel) latest 2014 model with full xt group set, rockshox air rebound 100mm with remote, 11.8kg. unfortunately no link from official site due to unlaunch model merida priced 300 more compare to scott due to latest 27.5 latest model (should I go for 27.5'?). scott has stop production for 26' wheel in their performance scale category, therefore they give 15% on this model. it seems some big player has keeping their eye on 27.5' trend, if in such case we would able to see some big discount in 26' model? appreciate if sifu could provide some points that will be helpful for decision making (money down) especially for a completly newbie getting his 1st mountain bike Thank you. what's ur budget? i've just ended my bike shopping. might be able to share some helpful info This post has been edited by miaopurr: Jul 18 2013, 08:44 AM

QUOTE(cjseng @ Jul 18 2013, 09:34 AM) not more than 4.5k, your sharing is much welcome ! 4.5k for bike only right? if u r size 17, u might want to consider this marin indian fire trail. slightly over your budget. rm4559 http://www.marinbikes.com/2013/bike_specs....dian_Fire_Trailwithin ur budget, i've looked at scott scale 650, ghost se 8000, merida tfs 1000. all about the same price and spec. so pick the one that suits u (aesthetic n geometry) lapierre pro race 100 is below 4k, pro race 300 way above ur budget. nothing in between. but if that merida 27.5 gives u best bang for the buck, why not right? and if u like steel bikes, try polygon cx revive. below 4k This post has been edited by miaopurr: Jul 18 2013, 10:12 AM

Make a list n strike off one by one. Sometimes not only bcoz of spec, but also availability. I struck off merida tfs 1000, polygon revive n marin because the shops didnt have my size

QUOTE(lkoky @ Jul 24 2013, 07:06 AM) Guys, need help in choosing my first MTB. Currently I ride road bike, cycle ard 100km during weekend; been to Sempah & Fraser Hill no problem. So now looking to try MTB. Should I go for 26? 27.5? 29er? Budget is <5k; but just plan to get what is enough; not building a DREAM bike!! Plan to use the MTB in FRIM, like the trail to Canopy Walkway. I have looked at the local brand - Exitway, it looks like they have good components like Epicon fork, Sram X0 for <4k; Is this brand a value buy? http://www.pinkbike.com/news/26-vs-275-vs-29-Wheels.htmlhttp://mbaction.com/Main/News/Shootout-Whe...vs-26-5159.aspx

i'm looking for extra crush washers. the seal kit may last a long time. the replacement crush washers are needed for 30hr lower leg oil change.

QUOTE(eohl79 @ Aug 6 2013, 01:18 PM) Just got my Fox 36mm SKF seals + Fox float seal kit from Jenson USA. Will try to bring the samples and go source for crush washer. There are a bunch of specialized seals and bearing shops in Klang. Will go see. I know they do sell phenolic, aluminum and copper crush washers used for oil sealing. Not sure on the plastic ones. Don't know if can substitute with the soft copper ones. jenson ships fox products to malaysia? i thought they don't ship anyting with fox brand due to manufacturer's restriction. if u have any luck with the crush washers, please let me know. really appreciate it. can't substitute it with copper washers because the plastic washers are meant to be crushed by the bottom nut.

just got an mtb. planning to stick to the schedule. so will do it myself to reduce cost. khcycle doesn't quote the lower leg service fee. cheapest fee quoted is rm90 labour charge to replace the seal kit.
u can use any suitable fork oil for the lower leg. u can buy the pillow pack of fox fluid alternative from RWC. or u can use mobil atf oil. google "fox fork oil alternative". read mtbr forum's version

QUOTE(eohl79 @ Aug 6 2013, 04:43 PM) There is no alternative if you use your bike shock/fork aggressively. Fox green and red are for different purpose. One s for oil bath which requires more lubrication, the other specially for damper to prevent foaming and operate over a wider temperature range. Fox fluid if not mistaken has additional anti friction properties. Of course some people like me substitute the fluid for ATF fully syn oil which still works... But if given a chance will stick to Fox stuff. Problem is the oil from diff manufacturers varies quite a bit and there is no tight controlled standard meant for forks/shocks. Yes khcycle don't sell parts and don't really disclose all their service fee pricing... Just got the ball park for full service: 400 fork, 300 shock... With Fox service interval... XFusion service is cheaper and easier... 400 already? check this out http://cargocollective.com/khcycle/Supportyes, red and blue have different properties. my fork is float 32 rl, so i only need the blue one. or i'll just use maxima racing fork oil. or motul's factory line 10wt. the air chamber (100hr/annual) service seems a bit complicated. so for that i will get khcycle to do it. otherwise, just get a schrader valve tool and top up the oil. rockshox's less complicated and parts readily available too This post has been edited by miaopurr: Aug 6 2013, 08:33 PM

QUOTE(eohl79 @ Aug 6 2013, 04:32 PM) Not using fox oil at the moment. I'm using Silkolene and Motul fork oil. Buy from superbike service centre. Fox fluid using fully syn gear oil. Bit hard importing the fox fluid. Know the fox green and red are different with its own properties like anti foaming or more lubrication. Still trying to get the Fox stuff... Just need to wait a little bit. And yes service myself. Torque bolts and nuts to spec with torque wrench too. RWC has just added individual crush washers http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id152.html
