Liar... Must be Perodua salesman this guy. No Proton salesman crazy or stupid enough to tell people don't buy a good product they are selling. Go enjoy your watered down Myvi... There are missing parts in Myvi taken out to reduce cost compared to sister car in Japan. A Perodua engineer told me this...

Malaysia spec is known as side airbags, not torso. I would say it can protect head on collision as in the picture but in a cheaper way. Damn... Malaysian's life is like rubbish. Because of our g.v.  rclxub.gif  doh.gif

I thought u like to do research one

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbag
QUOTE
Side torso airbag
Side-impact airbags or side torso airbags (side thorax/abdomen airbags) are a category of airbag usually located in the seat, and inflate between the seat occupant and the door. These airbags are designed to reduce the risk of injury to the pelvic and lower abdomen regions. Some vehicles are now being equipped with different types of designs, to help reduce injury and ejection from the vehicle in rollover crashes. More recent side airbag designs include a two chamber system; a firmer lower chamber for the pelvic region and softer upper chamber for the ribcage.
The Swedish company Autoliv AB, was granted a patent on side impact airbags, and they were first offered as an option in 1994 on the 1995 model year Volvo 850, and as standard equipment on all Volvo cars made after 1995.
Some cars, such as the 2010 Volkswagen Polo Mk.5 have combined head and torso side airbags. These are fitted in the backrest of the front seats, and protect the head as well as the torso.

If side airbags can protect the head, theres no need for a curtain airbag such as the case in the preve. Thats why the AUS model they fitted curtain airbags because it cant protect the head.

I saw the side airbags of the preve at Last years Proton Power of One Event at Bukit Jalil.

Two of my friends been using Preve CFE with no problems encountered so far... One crazy dude driving at 200 kph and took his hands off steering wheel just to show how stable it is. What you mentioned only affect certain production batch, the earlier ones... Anyway, its a good car and I plan to trade in my Toyota to buy this Preve.

The CFE OWV and OCV issue has been recalled and resolved. No more issues for newer batch. The CFE engine has matured and stable.

Come on, we are talking about the 5 stars rating requirement. The video i post is the prove that is it side air bag can protect head or not and can it able gain 5 stars rating w/o curtiain airbags. Like i mention in the last post, side airbag is the cheaper way but at least still can protect our head to reduce injury. Torso airbags is to protect body and will come with curtain airbags in package. Airbag curtain can achieve higher rating for sure. If the curtain airbags is compulsory for 5 stars ANCAP rating, then this convertible car wont able to achieve it because there were no place to install the curtain airbags. Wikipedia is more on the airbag type and purpose, and nothing related to ANCAP requirement. I am just sharing something. Hope you are clear what i mean until now.

This is an example of sideairbags with minimal head protection.

And no, its not me who said that for 2012 2013 it is COMPULSORY to have Head protection airbags, its the staff at AUSNCAP.

this picture the airbag is out of air. I comment from the picture in proton website. I might be wrong on local spec. We not yet really see the image when the side airbag deploy. Lets wait for the video on side impact for local preve to prove local spec sucks. This is the only way we can see how the side airbag deploy
