"However, if these leaks are true, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will have an Exynos 5410 processor. According to the test scores, the CPU is clocked at 1.8GHz with a 4+4 core setup. With all that power, the phone is set to top the charts. And that’s very much the case. Compared to a Nexus 4, which is powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, the benchmark results show that the Exynos 5 Octa has a crazy final tally of 24,894, which makes it nearly 40 percent faster than the Nexus." way to go s4

Great timing, that day was the day after announcing of S4, so I can decide get which.

This year my phone not only look for specification, all already too high and small different, does not matter.

Outer design & material use was much important already now.

but octa....is there a need for 8 cores?
*
actual usage only uses 4 cores, it wont use 8 cores together.

it actually more than marketing gimmick to advertise 8 cores to normal consumer, in fact they just have a poor power efficiency high speed quad core, so that slap in old tech quad core for battery saver.

i wouldn't say this is a marketing gimmick. the slower core will help to improve battery life.
Coz in the end of the day, user will only utilize the A7(slower) quad core. because no apps will require the power of the A15 core.

You are contradicting yourself.
If like you said only the A7 cores are utilised then why add the A15 cores? Isn't that just for marketing gimmick?

thanks for explaining thumbup.gif
BTW there are very few apps that will take advantage of the processing power of the A15 core.

with Exynos Octa( ARM big.LITTLE )
we can have best of both world. performance and battery life.

Yes..it's true. Mostly it will use the 1.2GHz A7 only..can save battery a lot. But it's good to have the 1.8GHz A15 standby for raw power if needed.

Well..enough of the Octa. Lets talk bout HTC One thumbup.gif
The S600 is very good for smartphone. Dont know why HTC didn't OC it up to 1.9GHz. Most probably to save battery..i think

those editing software and 3d gaming will need it.
for normal users, they might end up utilize the few year back processor technology for today, with a powerful processor sleeping inside.

normal daily apps dont need 1.8ghz A15 processing power, maybe a 800mhz A15 will do, this is what current snapdragon configuration their processor for battery saving, lower clock / core for low processing demanding application, with lower power consumption.

Samsung does not use this method but add another obselate 4 cores inside, maybe their processor need high power consumption even on lower speed.

800MHz A15...!? rclxub.gif
A15 runs from 1GHz - 2.5GHz
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_Cortex-A15_MPCore

Btw..the A7 is not obsolete..it's the most power efficient chip.
Better than A8 or A9. Beside..to use BIG Little you need A7 just to save power.
If you have BIG capacity battery such as tablet..then you can run happily with the A15 alone without need of A7

i am giving example that most application need only 800mhz A15 processing power to run.
you need to understand how core clock work, and run from 1ghz is their max speed, not the min, most newer design processor will have the ability to change the clock speed accordingly, like when the core is doing nothing, they can idle at lower clock. Usually a phone idling will have clock speed of 384mhz, they wont idle at max speed like 1ghz to 1.5ghz because the phone battery will run out in an hour and the phone will hot like oven.

this should be my last post about the processor thing, as i might have different knowledge and point of view about processor that other.

Haha... I don't mind other brand has many cores on it, as long as this HTC ONE fits me. Different people, different priority. I believe this phone will able to serve me at least more than 2 years with it's interesting Sense & functionality. Design wise, I would say it's perfect! rclxms.gif
