i wonder what other phones are still using that type of screen??
Rumours out there are pointing towards the same pen-tile screen for the Galaxy S4.
Edit: Why would Samsung use this layout? It is because it uses roughly 1/3 less sub-pixels compared to traditional RGB layout. In another words, to cut cost. Also, due to the layout of pen-tile, one can argue that a 1080p pen-tile screen is NOT really 1080p, but less.
The digital signal to the display might be 1080p, the processor and all will process 1080p, but the output will be less than 1080p due to the layout.
Recent phones to use it: Galaxy Nexus Dell Venue Pro Nokia N9 Nokia Lumia 800 Droid RAZR HTC One S Samsung Galaxy S III

Looks like I am out of date with my S IV rumours. LOL
My basis for the pen-tile statement for the S IV was because weeks ago it was announced that Samsung has begin production of their 4.99" 1080p AMOLED screens, and they method of production that was announced is the same type used to produce pen-tile screens.
Anyway, I did a quick Google search and seems like Samsung might be feeling the heat and is attempting to update their S IV to match the competition.
Looks like s4 will launch about a week after xperia z's launch in malaysia..dont know when the s4 will reach malaysia but i will wait for its launch before deciding 100% that im going with xperia z.
$499 usd, roughly bout rm1500 for 16 gb wifi only, the same price for the current xperia tablet s. thank god i didnt buy it yet. i almost bought it last week.
