Really 1mil needed... Think of it especially those who are in their 30s now and will retire in 25 years time. By that time 240k is nothing.
*
Actually, today RM1 mil is nothing. 240k is a joke, not enough even 20 years ago. 20 years down the road, you will need RM3 million at least.

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Sep 26 2024, 08:42 PM)
It's based on you being able to withdraw RM1,000 per month for around 20 years after retirement.

Got RM33 daily to spend ok la.

Morning bancuh own kopi = few cents.

petang = roti kosong / air kosong = RM2

malam = roti telur / air kosong = RM4

Still have plenty left over.

So far my experience is 2-3 working days.

Btw, Dimaklumkan bahawa KWSP app is under maintenance.

Segala kesulitan, adakah ku kesah.

Terimakasih.

Sifus,

I'm wondering if money in EPF account can be allowed to continue to accumulate interest even if the account holder passes away?
*
QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ Oct 8 2024, 07:45 PM)
no idea, but i suspect as long as EPF doesn't know about it, the funds should still be able to accumulate dividend.

whether they backdate to date of death or not, no idea....
*
I have relative who passed away. It doesn't matter. Money will still accumulate dividend until it's taken out. EPF knows about it, but doesn't mean dividend is not to be paid. The nominee can take them whenever they want.

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Oct 8 2024, 11:09 PM)
I believe the spouse would have option to receive directly into their EPF account rather than cash out and then redeposit.
*
This is totally wrong. EPF will bank money into the nominee bank account only. Later you want to deposit back into your own EPF, you can do it the usual self contribution way.

*

QUOTE(MUM @ Oct 12 2024, 08:45 PM)
There was a time, Malaysia was deemed to be heading for severe rating downgrade.....which could impact the MYR currency, thus the purchasing power of MYR if left inside.
Alleged to be Caused by MO1 scandal.

Before that, there was a period of many years, the performance of many local unit trust funds have much better returns than EPF. Which may had prompted some people to take out money from EPF to invest in it.

Even now, some still does not hv confident of MYR based on so many years of downward trending direction. They prefer to take that money to invest outside of Malaysia for better returns so that they can hv better expenses for retirement use.
*
Only for financially savvy people. How many percentage is that? Most Malaysians are dumb and money took out would only be wasted on useless things or scammed. A EPF fund to protect the citizen's retirememt is a must for every country. We are already lucky we can withdraw by 55 unlike Singapore CPF which you have little control until you are 65 or something.
If the gov don't have EPF, the country would falls to chaos as majority will be totally broke when they retired, all money wasted don't know where over the decades.

I don't have confidence with RM long term either, which is why i diversified. But EPF makes a great tool today for retirement as we can see our kakis here keep sel contribute kaw kaw till max every year and an important part of their portfolios.

I believe even now you can actually request monthly withdrawal rather than lump sum right?

My theory is if you are relying only on EPF for your retirement, chances are you don't really have the discipline to handle a large sum of money given to you as long term planning isn't really a thing.

EPF probably should mandate for those that is qualified to withdraw their savings to undergo a consultation session with their financial planner prior to it, at least the person will understand the risk of lump sum withdrawal.
*
Nope. Malaysia always failed at making good policies and executing them. Likely it will be turned into a loophole with little Napoleans having a field day.

How to even tax unit trust. This year may untung, next year rugi kaw kaw. All the complicated units to confuse everyone. Anyway, 90% people will lose money with UT. The 2% dividend tax is the least of your concerns. laugh.gif

lol... not far from what I mentioned earlier...

didn't even count employers contribution too... suddenly EPF gets extra like 25% x salary of all foreign workers into their funds.

See.... our gov is so good. Not just think about citizen's retirement, also think for foreign workers' retirement when they retire and return to their home country till age 100???
And all get same div rate...
*
Foreign workers age 65 only can withdraw.... icon_idea.gif laugh.gif

*
If KOed, sorry lah. Ini duit aku punya. laugh.gif Btw, if Malaysians working in Singapore, do they need to contribute CPF also? Also can't take out until 65 like that right?

Saw this article this morning,  https://weirdkaya.com/35yo-msian-shares-how...in-epf-savings/
However I think there is nothing to show her financial planning skills when her monthly pay is already RM47,000 (assuming 6 months annual bonus & employer EPF rate at 15%.)
*
Yes, that is just a show off salary. Be realistic, how many people can reach that early in life. If you can, good for you, but it doesn't helps others with moderate income to improve their financial status. This is like chinese saying "Gwai Ng chee lei lou mou hai lui yan" (Who doesn't know your mother is a woman?). If your salary is sub 10k and can reach 2m EPF by 35, then i would like to listen to your story!
