Yes. Account 3 is to pleased certain people.... Who keep demanding withdrawals... After the failures of EPF FSA2 facilities (loans by MBSB & BSN)...
*
I don't follow this. Why did it failed? But i seen a lot of ads on FB etc, to get loan based on EPF faccount or those between 50 to 55 or something. Not sure this is related to FSA2 or Ah Long scams.

Why bother with other people. Many big bosses here very nice share info. Just learn and plan your own financial roadmap.

You don't need to have RM10 millions to retire. Just work on your own goals.

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Jan 7 2025, 10:31 AM)
Any tiering that gives more to those who already have more doesn't make sense at all. Not like EPF earning differently from the funds of those who are above 55yo. If want cash handouts then direct from government, not using EPF to slip some through.

Reduced dividend for higher amount makes sense as a way to push high-amount savings people to invest in riskier assets rather than EPF fund managers settle for them. But all the wealthier people complain this complain that, want to treat EPF as enhanced FD rather than as retirement fund.
*
EPF is not a social security nor charity. The money belongs to people who contributes. What logic is it to give less to people who contribute more? This has been emphasized by the previous EPF Boss (maybe 1 or 2 before current one). Why does discrimination on those who worked hard to have a better living for themselves? Not all are investment savvy. Your suggestion is pure discrimination.

When I started working in 1980's, ...basic pay is only about 180 a month (7.50/day) as a production operator. Having 10k in kwsp was never in my mind then.
Now at 60's, ....if only hv 300k, I would still feel it is not enough to sustain my expenses till my end of life.

Got that and more ..

Back then i think i reach 10k in EPF fairly quickly even when my salary was ciput. I started working in 90's. If i remember correctly, in 80's, can get chap fan like for 70 cents when i was a kid. Anyone remember?

yeah, 5.5K pm for a family is too tight.... for single elderly person should be fine, especially if can get medical support from our nice kkm for 1rm  nod.gif ...
*
I would assume by retirement time, kids already grown up and has a job. Actuallly 5.5k to support 2 elderly person with no debt and with at least 1 fully paid property for own stay is quite doable. Unless by retirement time your kids still small then jalat. Like my ex colleague, married late, kids still small, now maybe near 60, still have to work in Singapore after lost job here....sad.

like this it's wiser to give higher % dividend to Account 3 to encourage people not to withdraw and lower % to Account 1 since it's locked.

Aiyo, what's all these arguments. You will not lose dividend, everything based on Jan to the 31st of Dec last year, this year's contribution in Jan, Feb will goes into the next dividend's calcultation. Just refer to nexona88 calculation. He very "cheong hei" can explain in detail. Lol.

Anyway. the announcement should be coming next week in the 1st week of March.

Unker already ordered a Poxo X7 Pro yesterday in pre-celebration mood (My Samseng A52 this year is last year of security update liao...i want my phone to last 4 years minimum with software security update). Huat Ah!!!

few years ago i did contemplate whether EPF was like a pyramid scheme, but got a lot of brickbats for that. many years later; now, some "experts" say EPF may not be self-sustainable. anyway, now that we have AI, it tells me that EPF is not a pyramid scheme.  whistling.gif

30 years ago when unker started working, all these aunties already said EPF is scam. Now unker already retired with EPF generating my retirement income. Yes, EPF is scam, please withdraw all.

There are still people thinking like that, ...
Unless, unavoidable have to contributes.
They would never put extra inside as they had experienced and believes the money can generate better else where.

"Scam" just pay them 5-6% pa. Their own investment portfolio managed to gives them more %,  EXCLuding the depreciating MYR too
*
A proper investment protfolio would have breakdown low risk investiment, mid risks and high risks according to your age, appetite and financial goals.

When everything else fails, you still have EPF as your last man standing and it's also bankruptcy proof.

QUOTE(jasontoh @ Feb 25 2025, 06:54 PM)
No such thing as guarantee in investment, thus my point is we should not treat EPF as investment. However my point being many, me included have trust deficit on how the government managing our money, thus many will prefer to withdraw when reach retirement, but that doesn't mean that they are losing out on EPF dividend because their investment might turn out to be golden.
*
Sounds great on theory, but the reality is, most people who withdraw all are usually spent it all too soon, burns it on bad investment or got scammed. Almost every week sure got one scam story. Just a few days ago a 70+ years old lost RM4 million+ to scammers.

Also, in the top elite club in EPF, there are people with over RM10 millions in EPF....pretty sure those people will probably have a lot more outside of EPF.....likely they are financially way smarter than me. Unker small fry just follow. Maybe got a few here from the Elite club here also....don't be suprised.

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Feb 25 2025, 07:25 PM)
I think my point is, you get guaranteed 12% every month because government forces your employer to contribute into EPF (unless you self employed la).

DBS or whatever investment won't get you that amount.

It's tempting to think if we don't need to contribute to EPF, the 11% can park into DBS, but you forget they have at least 2-3 periods when the stock fell by 30-50%. Do you feel most can stomach that and continue to vest into it?

I think my Maybank shares also hovered around rm7 for ages before coming back to the price we see today.
*
Yes, unker old already, don't want too excited, later HBP attack and masuk hospital like Sabri...cukur at least no MACC after me since i only eat chicken and duck eggs and not turtle egg. If put small portion play play, ok lah. I play a little bit of BTC previously, cannot tahan the rollercoasters. I think i stick to Sports Toto.
