Hmm, I know of person who just emptied all EPF at 50 and 55 years old, and money all spent for children's expenses.. married la, etc...

I read it's actually quite common that retiree withdraw their savings and binge spending , finishing all money in just few years...

hmmm... issit related to epf dumping foreign holdings for this stupid withdrawal? now they get more ringgit to pay out... and more expensive for ppl to move money out of the country
*
Shouldn't be..USD has been going up n up vs many currencies. JPY is the worst.

Btw EPF dumping foreign assets is good for MYR in the immediate term, everything being equal. Sell USD assets, buy MYR.

EPF has pretty big exposure in Developed Markets esp US. Wonder how current bear market will impact their performance? . 🤔

I think it should be in the insurance subforum. If it's only 100k then only suitable for certain market segments, and only one year term. How much cheaper are the online rates you've compared so far?
*
Is there an insurance sub-forum here?

Anyway, i-Lindung is targeting B40 and M40, but since the platform allows you to buy similar products from different insurers, you will be able to boost your protection by subscribing to all that you can from different vendors.

Right now, you can get max of RM600k term life and RM400k critical illness cover by combining all the vendors.

How low is the premium? Insurance premium is dependant on age, sex, smoke status etc. So.it will vary by individuals. In addition, the i-lindung products are very vanilla. No investment link, no riders. But my own rough estimate is that its probably 75% lower premiums than what the agents offer. You can do this comparison yourself based on your own particulars.

Anyone have the product disclosure sheets from FWD, Etiqa or Prudential for their products? The EPF site gives me an error and asks me to go to the nearest EPF branch to fix my details whenever I try to click iLindung, so I can't check their published premium tables and do a comparison for you.
*
Looks like u need to use the EPF platform.

I couldnt find the product disclosure sheet from the providers website. Eg here is Prudential

After spending an hour at the EPF branch I now can access iLindung, and I have compared the premium rates on offer.

They are not cheaper on iLindung. In fact the cheapest is AIA's own online basic term insurance. I compared AIA, GE, PRU, Etiqa, Axa, FWD, Allianz.. All insurance providers provide online insurance that you can self purchase online these days, which are zero commission products.

My insurance tax relief is already maxed out every year so no extra benefit for me there either, plus I can subscribe outside of EPF if I need it.

The only benefit of iLindung is you get another way to spend your account 2, if you badly need insurance and you don't have money to buy basic coverage.
*
Thanks for the effort mate. I looked at the GE basic term online, it is.indeed slightly cheaper.

Next time going to KWSP, you should go to the new HQ in Kwasa Damansara. Very few people when i went there early this month and I got served very fast.

For profit and dividend calculations, EPF does not mark to market their bonds.

Someone please enlighten me:

It is reported that in 2021, EPF gave the biggest total payout of Rm56.7 billion.
Yet in 2020 to 2021, it is reported that there were many special withdrawals. This would have reduced the total asset holding at 2021 which qualifies for dividend.

So, how is it that the dividend expected for 2022 to be around 5% with difficulty?
*
Why do you think its weird? 2022 income so far is much lower than 2021.

Weird in the sense that since the AUM has greatly decreased due to the withdrawals, the ability to deliver 5% should not be 'difficult'.
*
End 2021 AUM was RM1.01 Trillion. End 3Q2022 AUM was RM961 Billon. Thats a 4% drop.

But you might see income drop 25% this year.

i agree with this thinking.
All the financial numbers mean nithing.
They always retain some of their profits for rainy days.
*
If u really think the numbers mean nothing, then you should withdraw from EPF (u are able to withdraw IIRC). It would be very risky to leave your savings with politicans.

i mean nothing with regards to dividend declaration.
It's still a risk to have everything in MYR. To me, EPF is just a bank account. I can with all at once if i need to.
*
You must be be thankful to the Malaysian politicans for giving excess returns for a bank account over the years 😉

Good thing about EPF portfolio is that currently its foreign asset portion has grown to 37%. I expect this % to grow as EPF AUM grows. One day it could probably reach 50%.

This provide a measure of protection agst weakness in MYR. Last 10 years, EPF returns handily beat MYR depreciation.

Personally, i have both EPF and my own investments. My own investment is typically 70% foreign. My target is 50% EPF n 50% my own DIY portfolio.

The EPF capital protected n 2% guaranteed return feature is hard to beat.

no woh... unlike many others, I nowadays no longer against people withdrawing their own funds from EPF... it is still not a great idea, to put it mildly, but it is the person's own future. Who am I to say anything.

Hence please please allow... we need these funds from B40 and M40 people to spur the economy. tq PMs of  Moo and Penyu.
If gov can announce the availability of 30K like this week, that would be great... KLCI maybe can go back up to 1700 or 1800 lvl and end the year nicely....  rclxms.gif

It will be problem for all of us still.living here esp from 2030 onwards when the country goes to the aging category.

More social spending n subsidies needed, bigger deficit, higher taxes (and/or lower ringgit).
