Some more EPF news.
As Malaysians eagerly anticipate the Employees Provident Fund’s (EPF) announcement of the 2023 dividend rates, expert forecasts suggest a potential increase.

The provident fund, a cornerstone of retirement security for many, is expected to reveal its payout ratio in early March, with predictions placing it between 5.5% and 6.5%.
This marks a potential uptick from the previous year’s 5.35%, igniting optimism among contributors.
Analysts from various sectors are weighing in on the potential outcomes.

Tax experts and financial analysts temper expectations while acknowledging the fund’s solid economic scale.
Securing Futures: EPF Steadfast Through Market Swings
With an impressive RM1.1 trillion in assets under management, the EPF significantly influences investment trends and outcomes.

The provident fund’s performance is not just a matter of percentages but a reflection of strategic investment decisions in a challenging economic climate.

Each percentage point in dividends represents a substantial payout of RM11 billion, a testament to the fund’s scale and impact on individual financial security.

As Malaysians await the official announcement, the EPF stands as a testament to the country’s commitment to its workforce’s future, ensuring that even in uncertain times, the fruits of labour can continue to grow and provide comfort in the years.

Many Malaysians further leverage their EPF savings by investing in unit trust funds for additional growth.

QUOTE(tzxsean @ Feb 26 2024, 06:58 PM)
so u mean if want to perform voluntary contribution, it is better to do it at start of the year instead of year end right?

just wondering do you have any example calculation on the loss of interest for contribution at start of the year vs year end?
*
It's not about year start or year end. It's about month start and month end. It is not prorated by days of year. If you bank-in on 1st, means 30 days you get 1 day interest only. So instead of banking in there, you could put 25 days in things like KDI Save to get 25 days of high interests and then bank in on the 26th. Doesnt matter you bank in 1st or 26th to EPF, you will only get 1 day interests.

a hypothetical question

if i put 100k in january.

then the year dividend is 6%, will i get more than 6% overall? since I contributed starting of the year? when others only evenly distributed the 100k throughout the year and get 6%.
*
100k- get 11 mths + 1 day @ 6%

So yes, if say, you split your 100k to 10 deposits of 10k for 10 months, of course those will be pro rated accordingly.
1. 10k - 11mths + 1 day @ 6%
2. 10k - 10mths + 1 day @ 6%
3. 10k - 9mths + 1 day @ 6%
4. 10k - 8mths + 1 day @ 6%
5. 10k - 7mths + 1 day @ 6%
etc
etc

housing loan interest might change?

do you have enough for emergency fund or liquidity?
*
If use flexi house loan, can use it as emergency fund as well, though i don't recommend it. I find it hard to calculate the house loan interets, which is why i quickly settle all my property loans early, then i can sleep peacefully. Lol.

How well did he do at PNB....

Found this

Total assets under management (AUM) grew to RM341. 6 billion last year, from RM336. 7 billion in 2021, according to the report. Lower net income coupled with expansion in AUM had led to a lower return on assets for PNB last year, down to 3.1%, from 3.6% in 2021, and 3.5% in 2020 and 2019.27 Jun 2023

Also this.

This guy is CEO there since when? 2019?? sweat.gif

Can be as low of 5.4%
Which is just 0.05% above from the previous dividend rates...

Moving forward when 70% & above investment is in local market....

Dividend rate range is low...
5% ranges only... Hard to reach 6% above
*
Local markets no hope. Money used to prop local companies, retiree priority is no more. Should at least 50/50. 50% into overseas market.

Lol even this is waay off.

Less than 1% of active members has more than a million balance.

My estimate based on account balance end 22

B4 : 1-1199
M40: 1200-7499
T20: 7500 above

Based on 6% dividends

A T20 balance starts at about RM125k.
*
Where you pluck this definition bro. RM125k already T20??? Need to see so many factors. If Age 25 and RM125k balance then is T20. If age 40 and balance RM125K is B40.
