6.1% is last year's rate. I think they use back this rate until the new rate is declared.
*
i suspected the same...

also i think why it is 4 days is cos maybe all these processing is somehow still manual and the funds was not rejected immediately.
Hence it is like EPF accidentally allowed the deposit and the deposit is allowed to earn 1 day for Dec, and the 3 days of Jan.

Note: all just my guesses and speculation.... for fun discussion... smile.gif

makan angin.... lol...

money is fungible and if one has cash in bank outside, just eat those cash first until finish.
after that, if monthly expenses is 16K rm, just every monday submit request to withdraw 4K rm to spend for the week.... icon_rolleyes.gif
(everyday seems too troublesome... weekly basis is easier)

Tabung Haji expected to pay modest dividends for 2022.

Amanah saham (asm1, asm2 and asm3) under PNB also pays modest dividends.

EPF different ??

Interesting topic, ya? Don't shoot Unker, today no urgent matters.

Based on the high level assumption, from multiple sources, NST, The Edge, ex FM writeup....I conclude the population Mean = $301K with SD = $240K.

The top of 99.7% population will have $1.01Mil savings. Most of the active forumers n Seniors already fall outside as outlier.

However, among those privileged KWSP members, taking on data from The Edge, the Gentlemen's Club imho are those with approx $4.6Mil.

The Big Boys (imho) are those with savings > $1.9Mil + 1, 2, 3 SD (each SD is 0.9Mil). Unker sendiri further split into 3 bands.

Big Boys $2.8Mil
Young Adult $3.7Mil
Gentlemen $4.6Mil
There's another bigger band building to the $10Mil Maestros.

Pls ah, above based on Unker small hat, fiction analysis...no intention to discourage or kacau fellow forumers which Unker has highest level of respect.

Just casual reading till dividend declaration.
*
curious unker...

how do you come out with 1.9 million ringgit as your "mean" and 900K as your sd? what distribution function you using? cannot be normal cos the SD is too big... shocking.gif

Bro Wedchar,
Unker assumes 2 sets of raw data.
1. Total population, where the median skewed to low end. Also approx of additional data point where 3% needing $240K.

2. Second population, based on The Edge raw data, computing just millionaires with wider SD due to limited data, approximation . While almost no data for those @ 0.002%, $10Mil.

Ampun tuan.
*
wah... unker's sampling method very canggih...

but must thank unker for creating the 3 categories of boys... hehe... Gentlemen club status is a lot more achievable than the C-suite club (the 10 million above) or the elite CEO club (above 17 million).

6 states are going to have election in less than half a year. PMX will need to create a feel good factor for people. Giving higher than expected dividend would be one of it. Also to convince EPF contributor to keep money in EPF rather then keep asking for special withdrawe
*
like you said, it would make sense for PMX to "gift" a high div yield, as until the funds are withdrawn, it is all just accounting entries. If there are reserve from previous years, which EPF does keep, it is all proper and not illegal (ie not like Tabung Haji previously).

people will feel great and spends more. Similar to how property prices go up each year, but it is all accounting only except for those who managed to sell at the purported prices.

Nope, very low.

EPF is meant to coincide with retirement, thats why its a retirement fund. If retirement age now is 60, but withdrawal is 65, the 5 years govt expect retirees to starve?

First they will need to change the retirement age to 65, then have to change the EPF Act to reflect it.

At best, they probably will take away the early withdrawal at 55yo one, if that's even palatable.
*
we all are just talking cock only I am sure...

already gov of the day felt the pressure to allow everyone to withdraw one more time of 30K rm... and that is so damn hard to resist...

we think it is that easy to change retirement age to 65???? gov of the day can try....

lol...

I dont think they suddenly go from 55 to 65. However, i wont be suprised if 55 become 60, within the next 10 years.

Anyway, my current plan for EPF is to select the monthly withdrawal option when I retire, which is probably at age 60. So I probably wont do anything.
*
Don't do the monthly withdrawal option.... i remember (this is a while back) a old colleague who retired complained to us youngster that he choose the monthly withdrawal option to only find out that the entire amount earmarked for the monthly withdrawal for that year no longer earn interest.

best you go verify this first before selecting monthly withdrawal if this is still the case.
(I didn't verify this of cos... how to when I am not even at 55 years old).

Wah this is something new to me, better check next time when hit 55.....else kena tipu. If this is really the case might as well manual withdraw since can do it online easily right?
*
I could not and did not confirm this part, but definitely remember the old colleague making a lot of noise about it. I can imagine how sour he is when rates is at 6% and losing out the interest on even 10K rm for 11 months. thats like 540rm gone for a Dec spending money, for example.

thought I share this for those who wants ease...

Young man,

Can you enlighten what this is about?  blush.gif
*
upon reaching retirement age, one can request (for one's convenience sake) that EPF credit one's bank account on a monthly basis... so that it appears like one still have an income stream into one's bank account.

unfortunately, a while back (like 10 years ago), a old colleague of mine who retired did elect this option and after a year he found out that the entire monthly payment sum for that year did not earn any dividend.

so say 10K monthly withdrawal automated, it is as if 120K rm got removed from dividend calculation but one only get 10K rm on monthly basis.

disclaimer: I did not/could not verify this story by my old colleague... but no harm sharing this info.

oh.... i just tried to find in kwsp site... could not find anything that explains this...

would you happen to have the link still?

nonetheless, my strategy is always to withdraw each week the amount I need for the week or to top up my 10K rm buffer in my savings account. No point "losing" out on free dividend... biggrin.gif

Respekt!
*
no lar... the 10K rm is buffer.... cos even request withdrawal from EPF takes 1 to 2 days...
and to make life easier, should withdraw like in chunks of 5 to 10K... don't lar each time withdraw 500 rm and almost every other day.

I am sure some EPF employee will notice and then curse me for the transactions. haha

soon EPF need to issue an ATM/Debit card to all retirees and set up ATM machines in all their offices to allow retirees to walk in and tekan tekan daily spending monies...

2.6 million is a lot. So many rich people in malaysia. Almost 10 percent of malaysia population
*
thats the beauty of classifications... when abused, can be used to discriminate the group in a class...
by definition T20 means 20% of the population....

and 600 billion divided by 2.6 million is only 230K rm and this is the mean.
sucks to be the person in the category between T18 to T20.... poor as hell at only most probably 100K rm.

Politicians cannot be trusted

This is actually bad coz now ppl can say since T20 so much why not take to give to poor ppl and T20 rich so should sedekah bla bla bla. Bullets to let b40 rompak or gov rompak. Later sure see P ppl saying T20 is what what race and gov should just take and give B40 one i tell you. Not good not good.. 😂
I am at 100k only sad.gif so i poor as hell but expected la. Very tiny salary past 13 years sad.gif
*
Thats the part I don't like about our politicians.... they purposely simply talk to stir shit. the funds in EPF will not be able to solve the issues of B40 being poor... this issue is to be handled outside of EPF and by the gov. (no point wasting effort to list down what can done... not like anyone wants to hear about this).

Whereas honest hard working citizens who earns honest salary gets flogged and vilified for having saved some money for retirement. 100K rm is not bad, but not rich lor... like you said. At least it is honest savings (not like how our politicians get families to get free money)

To control ppl, you either use fear or stupidify them. Fortunately our politicians are very good at both. Unfortunately, our politicians are too good at both. You say how many times and you preach how many times also no use. Soon they will start to think robbing the "rich" is justified. Look at US.. look at the ppl in the forum. We are not far from that mentality already. Remember... Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering... 😂 Now they are using fear and ppl are afraid.. they just keep stroking the fear sentiment.. PN is dangerous in that sense.. and now they just give a "target".. the T20.. justifying they have a lot of money.. what do you think this will lead to? Next they just have to say xx% of the T20 is what group..voila..
*
and the best part (definitely at least one of the best part) is that the politicians and their family members and cronies are all well within the T20.... heck, in fact, I will call them the T0.01

the stupid mob should lynch these politicians first... bangwall.gif
