So 230k consider as T20 now in gomen eyes??

Really joking lorh....

No wonder others countries look down on us...
*
having the income of close to 20K rm per month for a single person is well within T05. Could be T01 even, but we don't have stats more granular than the 5% population grouping.

T05 household income is only 20K rm.

Lolz...
This one really joke grouping...
Problem with low income country like us...
*
It is... and it is what it is for Malaysia...

I believe why many of us forumers (in this thread at least) found the stats unbelievable is because we are living in Klang valley...
Unfortunately, we are not provided the same granularity for Klang Valley populations.... except that Selangor and KL median and mean household income is like double of the nations...

so without being accurate, I can say that being T20 in the nation will just feel like being T40 in KL area only (T40 as in the top 40, or middle of M40)

These are gross monthly salary range, correct ?
*
same ballpark numbers as provided by gov...

unfortunately, we are supposed to assume the numbers to be statistically correct and accurate. (like how economists take inflation numbers and gdp growth numbers to be "accurate" and "correct")

For KL Putrajaya , T20 starts at RM16k household income...
*
16K or 20K... doesn't matter anymore... we are just screwed...

easier to just remember that whatever national numbers we see in terms of income, for us who live and work(ed) in Klang Valley, a better estimate is just multiply by 2.

thanks for the extra pic... no wonder we all feel rich when we go to Kelantan... tongue.gif

ai yoh... why suddenly so many complaints and fear mongering going on about inability to withdraw our funds from EPF upon reaching age 55 or 60 or 65 or 70...

right now the B40 with almost no money keep on banging here and there to withdraw whatever 10K they have inside and government is like panicking don't know what to do....

and we still think gov dares to try to stop rightful withdrawals when gov is almost hopeless in shutting up those with no rights to withdraw ?

its like the healthy chap being afraid doctor don't allow the chap to eat ice-cream when the diabetic 200 kg chap is allowed to eat ice-cream... hah

It will not at least in the next few years. As mentioned by the deputy finance minister that the epf is now mainly contributed by T20, and he is using the extra dividend rm 500 generated from the total pool of profits to the targeted individuals. Imagine if T20 pull out most of the funds, where is the extra profit to give B40? FYI, rm500 / rm 10000 is already 5% extra dividend. On top of the original dividend, it wil be around 10 to 11% for the targeted individuals.
*
Don't worry about the 500rm sedekah to these accounts... (btw, gov also stupid one.... what will the 500rm do if one is already 54 years old and only has 9K rm is side? the chap is still in deep trouble regardless)
according to PMX, it is only around 1 billion ringgit. First off, it will come from Gov of Malaysia, not EPF.

But for the sceptics and conspiracy theorists, let me entertain you guys.
for 3Qs, EPF recorded almost 40 billion profit. 1/40 = 2.5% of whatever dividend that is supposed to be distributed to everyone in EPF. So if one assume will get 6%, the new number will reduce by 2.5% (of 6%) and that is 5.85%. so what???? those of us with more than 10K rm won't die with 15 bps lesser...

Where is the dividend money going to come from.

EPF cannot give out what it has not got.

Only with a very very good Q4 2022 result, above 6pct is possible.
*
reserves....

and until money is withdrawn, nothing is given out... it is all just accounting numbers.

if reserves wouldnt epf need to report it to be so

how much from profit , how much from reserves.

EPF does declare that it keeps reserves and literally explained the reserves are kept for rainy days...

just need to look up all the annual reports on how much they "under"-pay all of us for dividends most years.

For a total of 3+2=5%? Epf average was >5%. Sorry can compare this way?
*
for small % (like these 2% or 3% types), for ballpark sake, it is accurate enough.

but in reality, there are cross-terms to multiply out mathematically.

and yet people should realize that politicians are well within the T0.1 (as in 0.1 grouping). not even T01.

You are suppose to be apolitical... Bad kwsp manager... Next~! T20 also no complaint... You complaint what.. plus it's government policy. Not like you can do much about it if you don't have more than 1 mil. If you have more than 1 mil what's 2% to you? Next~~~~! (Evil mode on).. buawahahahahaha...
*
actually, the more one has, the more valuable the 1% is....

if I only have 10K rm in EPF, then I may as well just write off the whole amount when it comes to retirement planning... regardless of 1 or 3% extra.... that's only extra 300rm... yay... I can eat a few more buckets of KFC...

but if I have 4 million rm, the extra 2% means 80K rm.... can buy extra IPHONEs for my family....

I like your attitude.

Buy good stuff.

Spending money helps the economy going, especially "free" money annually from one of the best run organisation in the country.

By the way why did you quote specifically 4 million and 2pct is 80 thousand ?? Lol
*
I just use the number 4 for fun... cos 4 is the fav number of many people... 2% is just from earlier mention.... 8 is a good number for another many people rite?

we all know that year 2022 income is much lower then 2021, and if EPF declared whole income as dividend its most probably reach mid 5%, to declare above 6% they have to do "magic" by touching the retained reserve (previously discussed in the thread)  from previous year, thus opposition got chance to tembak...somemore edi say T20 chinese dominate EPF funds edi, declare so much dividend help chinese? ask u help B40 by introduce targeted withdrawal u dun want, want B40 to declare bankcrupt? etc etc
*
very easy to counter this nonsense argument...

I am sure the BN MPs, with their vast experience of politicking, can just state if the oppo knows how many Malays are there with their funds in EPF and should be spite these fellow muslims just because of dengki?
Whats the point of reserve if it is never to be used?

Don't everyone wants a high 8% dividend so that everyone has more money to withdraw when PMX finally cave in?

I am not a politician also can bulls**t. lol

ps: it is up to the politicians to education the B40 who is declaring bankrupcty... lagi don't take money out of Epf lar.... why let creditors take those money too????

Hmm..

If following political viewside...

During PN time, its went lower...

During BN time, it's payout over 90%

So probably we looking at minimum 90% payout rate?? With balance kept reserve 💪
*
why keep reserve? so that PAS can get a chance to raid it?

distribute out and then allow all of us to withdraw to pump prime the econ is way better a option, vs letting next gov buy silly things like cars for politicians.
