Most of us working class people are not so financial literate thereby unable to impart financial nuggets of wisdom to our children, thereby we choose the next best things that is allocating our wealth as wisely as we can. Though for me personally i do encourage my children to save and maximise the seed money that i gave them through which it is also given yearly. However i m also toying with idea of allocating the funds in my epf to them and what better way than by transferring it to their epf account, though it may not be. The idea that they should touch the inheritance when they are still young means that they are unable to fend for themselves and so the priciples is such.
The rational of why we must transfer now instead of thru nomination is that 'touch wood" we dont expect to leave so soon. By allocating to them gives them a certain confidence that no matter whether their career or business is performing there will at least be some funds for them in their retirement too. As the saying goes " money scare of coldness"
Dont be too hard on me as sharing my thoughts only.
Sorry, unker playing wargame. As i initially penned, good discussion topic.
Im more into understanding that person's psychology...as its Auntie's 1st degree. Err, she the intelligent one, im just the lucky one.
Back to the $10m topic, definitely is not abt lack of confidence nor worried abt insufficient retirement. If anyone says with that amount of money, hes still feels like middle class...he ought to be slapped.
Hence, the initial question why did he chose the kwsp gifting option. A person with $10m kwsp, cannot be your avg intellectual person, and to ask in a public forum. So it must be a hypothetical situation. Hence, the question..for last few decades, kwsp was strict in withdrawal policy...but why now, kwsp allows for $10k withdrawal. You mean to tell me, in the past kwsp members didnt face financial ruin n needed withdrawal, for sure got. So, is hes aware of some clause in kwsp Act...or just taunting us that he has $10m in kwsp.
Back to bro magika, i get it most people are just savers rather than investors. Again, moving yr kwsp to kid, is a zero sum game. No increase in the % dividend.
The real responsibility for saver parents is teach the kids,...migrate funds from low % dividends (sspn, casa, fd, money in piggy bank) into kwsp to earn higher % dividend. Knowing that the parents will support them if they over invested n get into cashflow trouble.
