You know those engineers in Canon are great in optics and sensors, but usability is the least important in their design. So we have to get creative.

I think most cameras have problem with the battery accessibility when the tripod plate attached and someone in dpreview shows us how to overcome it though it may not works for all plates with different sizes.

Well, not MOST CAMERA, just the ones with smaller bodies. All the higher end DSLRs have the battery door aligned in vertical instead of horizontal at the base plate.

He is a digital artist and professional photographer and you can see all his previous photo collection in his photostream shot with 5D Mark III.
And thats a difference between me and him. It's not about the camera, sensor size and expensive lenses, it's all about skill.

In the hand of the pro, bridge camera like SX50 can produce amazingly quality images without doubt.

Seriously at 13fps high burst mode in full resolution or its native shutter speed as fast as 1/2000 can be extended to 1/100000 " with CHDK there is no reason you wont be able to capture the most hyper active toddler even your wife gave birth to baby lipas.

SX50 captures in flight hummingbird, freeze rotating blades, fast moving jet plane in the sky, don't tell me your children's movement can top that speed. I mean what planet are you from?

If you're to check out recently shot photos by various SX50 owners, you'll definitely see pictures of the moon. These few really caught my attention:-

Gleiton Filho shows off his creativity with bunch of interesting shots he took using sx50

He probably sums up this cam capability by taking it from 0 cm macro to the street, from bright light to low light, from the sky to saturn.

Install Exif Viewer extension for chrome https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/e...pkbplhkoiekndck

Then go to flickr click on the picture you want to view and click original. Once you mouseover the original photo, you can see the basic exif data of the photo including shutter speed on the top left.

Amyshaped is a concert goer, but she doesnt always have the privilege to be in the front row and bringing huge DSLR without getting confiscated at the entrance. So she sneaked in with SX50 in her jacket and the camera did a good job getting shot from far, in low light and fast moving artist on the stage.

This is how far her seat from the stage

Probably need to use one for event photography in November, should I wait for SX60 to come out? Wonder how much will the pricing be and whether the vari-angle screen will still be available or not..

The other night i was setting my camera to shoot saturn, then all the sudden the dang weather changed with thunderstorm and all, Saturn disappeared and without knowing what setting to shoot lightning, quickly set to sports mode. And yes i got this shot but Sports mode really bad for low light condition thus the building all noisy even though the composition was right.

Haih cant wait to install the motion detection hack from CHDK.

hi chokia......ur posts on this thread are pretty amazing & very helpful....i was trying out motion detect scripts from the CHDK wiki page for the sx50 hs. but none of those are fast enough....most scripts are incompatible....for the few that work the camera takes quite sometime to detect the motion and click a photograph. have you tried any motion detect script that u found suitable? pls share....thanks!!!

Looks like Canon delay SX50 successor in October instead of September

I really wish it doesnt look like a DSLR or bridge camera, should have slimmer body like Sony NEX line or better without body like QX100

Imagine Superzoom like this :-
