That's the reason why I said people with interest in videos lean more towards Canon. But if the D5200 is able to do 60fps, that gives you more room to edit and enhance the video. Photo wise, I tried a D5200 in Nikon centre and the result was pleasant. Won't know how it fares against the D7100 but it definitely is better than the D7000.

I will jump to canon if by the time canon announce 7d mk2 and nikon still got no sign of d400... tongue.gif

Hi guys!

I'm looking to buy a DSLR. Currently my choice is between Nikon D5200 and Canon 600D (but personally see myself liking the Nikon better). Budget is RM3k.

I'm will be using the camera mostly for videography and also some casual shots (landscapes mostly). I prefer one that can handle low light better.

How much is the current price? I went to a local shop (Perlis) and he offer me RM2900 with the 18 55 lens, 8gb card, bag and tripod.

I'm new to all this, so hope you sifus all can help me.

Thanks! smile.gif

if ur looking to do lots of video works, go with canon. from my pengalaman on videos :

5D3 > D800
5D2 > D700 (D700 oni got timelapse photo mode tongue.gif)
60D > D7000 (D7000 got more noise in shadow areas in video mode, some more kenot change aperture in LV zzz)
550D > D90

so ya, go for canon if u wan video. but if u want it for stills photography, by all means go with nikon. better flash system, better customization in camera, better dynamic range, stills nikon wins hands down smile.gif

After looking at more video comparisons, somehow I'm clinging towards the Canon 600D now.
Even though you said that Nikon wins hands down, doesn't mean that the Canon for stills suck right?

actually both equipment are good...should question is the photographer of Nikon or Canon etc are good coz 50% of the output depends of the person behind the lens.

until today , i rarely see any professional videography holding Nikon body for doing video , at least a Canon 550D will be used for video

If u going for DX , nikon always have better low light performance for still photography , but for video , nothing beat canon except Sony? biggrin.gif

Magic lantern aside, Canon still has more lenses and many of them are good for videos.

I always thought Nikon had the better glass. Anyways for video Nikon system is still lacking behind... Which is good in a way, then I dont need overheat the sensor.

was testing out the 7D video under the hot sun last year brows.gif hot was an understatement. Was worried gonna fry the sensor haha

well, my plan is to park at amcorp then take the lrt down to doubletree, and then the shuttle.
better than driving all the way to rhb jln tun razak and park outside there, then take shuttle.
so if amcorp, probably go there earlier so can get parking...10am or so...
i wait for the order of play to be released later tonight and see anyone else interesting playing in the day first.
