u have wide selection of western & local food there

western - can be found along pantai cenang

local food (mostly operate by malays) - check out kuah town

food is not a problem in langkawi, and to my surprise,
the food there tasted superb thumbup.gif

Thank, the advise I got is don't try the seafood there since the price is quite expansive there.
Malay food I probably can't have too much because the coconut milk might make my stomach uneasy.

You have the same probs as me, lol tongue.gif

Anyway, as for seafood you gotta know where to choose.

For me Kuah is a big no no unless I have sudden crave for pork and chinese food, otherwise I will usually go to Pantai Cenang or Pantai Tengah(near Sun Ba there).

If I'm not mistaken, after you pass by the underwater world, there got 1 restaurant called The Lighthouse. Is an ideal place for couples but the meal isn't cheap.
The environment is superb for sure. Facing the sea with live band I think or a people playing violin. Not really sure about this as I didn't actually take my meal there. Thanks to the "nice" price there. laugh.gif

The cheapest I hv bargained is ~RM90/pax otherwise it should be around RM100-RM130/pax..BUT this is on the Island not on the floating platform..Trip to the floating platform will be from RM180 onwards...

Forget about electronics such as DC or Ipod..u can get cheaper one in KL...there are few located at the Jetty and 2 shopping malls in Kuah but pricing is almost similar or slightluy more expensive than KL...BTW, Dig Cam/ PC related products are oledi duty free in KL...except certain kind of electronics.not sure about Ipod...

Okay, I guess I owe this thread a post. Thanks to all the information I got here... was a great return to Langkawi after 10 years.. nothing much has changed but more food outlets.. smile.gif.

Took Airasia there for a 4d3n trip... Airasia was perfect in timing... took the 10.20am flight arrived 11.20... on the dot!

Rented a Sentra 1.6A for RM240... maybe could have bargained but was too lazy to... guess it was a decent price. Cant check in hotel coz too early.. sad.gif. So had lunch at Pantai Cenang, LUCKY RESTAURANT... DARN EXPENSIVE... food so so nia... check in hotel.. then drive to Kuah then to Tanjung Rhu! Deng... I love the 4 seasons resort there.. must save enough to stay there next!

Dinner at Langkawi Mall, sidewalk cafe.. decent western meal cost less than RM60 for meal for 4. Went shop hunting... and back to hotel. End of Day 1.

Day 2, went Island hopping, well, maybe too commercialized but I guess it was pretty fun took the one at the hotel, its pricier but all worth it coz down from the hotel hop to the boat, hop off boat and back to hotel room. Good half day, next half of the day, my wifey started her shopping frenzy... btw.. had lunch at the coffee shop where at night its Rootian.. the fried jawa mee is not bad.... one old uncle frying.. smile.gif. The jawa mee oso not bad.. smile.gif. Shop shop shop till we drop both pocket and legs... had dinner at the stalls near dataran Lang. 1 word! AFFORDABLE almost CHEAP. Dinner for 4 (Malay food) Nasi Lemak, ABC, Tomyam, Fried Vege, Beef Rendang and rice.. all for under RM25.

Dinner early so by late evening was kinda hungry had room service bring in a pizza.... had pizza at the balcony overlooking the calm bay... what blissful life.. wish it could be everyday.

Day 3. Went round island, stopping by the Petronas Jetty to oogle at some nice yachts, drove up to Burau Bay snap some pics.. then off to Mat Cincang/ Oriental Village. Took cable car up, walk to the bridge.. walk back.. (Nearly died of exhaustion) spent half day later at Oriental Village then drove to Telaga Tujuh... saw the steps made U Turn go back to the car... hehehehe...

Drove up to Datai and Andaman ... saw some wild boars walking by the roadside.. then drove to croc farm.. see Bujang Lang and Bujang Kawi.. they have grown since we last saw them 10 years ago...

Then round up the tour back to Kuah town... and decided dinner on day 3 should be at Cenang. Drove back to hotel took the entire evening admiring the view and took some "stunning" pictures of the sunset. To me its stunning liao la... then back to Cenang for dinner at RASA Restaurant.. I would say decent price food so so.. then we have this guitarist trying hard to make a living.. serenading while we are dining... then its back to the hotel lounge for some music and relaxation.

Day 4... lazy morning.. after breakfast pack up... say bye bye to Langkawi liao... drove back to Airport.. drop the keys and more shopping.... then board flight back to KL.. arrive KL safely at 12.55pm.

Still counting the huge hole in my pocket... Chocolates RM800, Liquor RM250, Nike stuff RM640. 2 Extra luggages to carry the chocs.. RM50 (LOL). Although we packed 1 extra luggage there.. NOT ENOUGH!

All in all... the view from the hotel is worth the trip itself.... I can see myself sitting at the balcony watching the yachts coming in and the serene sea and island... nice trip... except for occasional drizzle in the afternoon that ruined my sunset pictures.. smile.gif.

Well, I guess the Chocs there are very cheap.. buy them for friends and relatives.. loads of it... and Nike shoes are cheap too... some 25% cheaper than in KL.. smile.gif.

Oh yeah.... now the Malaysian mega Sale Carnival, Billion Supermarket at Langkawi mall is selling perfume 15% OFF!
