Found this. Should be useful for the K30, K5 & K5II users.

Everyone seems to forget a huge advantage that Pentax has over other brands: They print the goddamn focusing distance onto the lens! For me that is an absolute must. I need to be able to focus without the AF or looking through the viewfinder, I need to be able to have a quick glance at the lens to check focus. Especially while taking video it is crucial. Doesn't matter if the camera has video AF, they usually suck anyway and hunt around, focusing doesn't happen smooth enough.

I don't see the point of releasing it though. Just like a rebranded K-30 with minor improvement. Maybe it's supposed to be K-30ii?

Small is good. It's what I like about Pentax. Easy to bring along etc. If I had a 5D it'd be at home all the time, unless I really need to bring it along.
That K-50 looks... boring? I don't see much need for a redesigned K-30, the K-30 was launched not so long ago. Pentax would be better served by expanding the product line to a more entry level camera... |

The K-50 isn't really smaller than K-30. The size is about the same.
K-30: 130 x 97 x 71 mm K-50: 129 × 96.5 × 70 mm The only new thing here is probably the DA L kit lens with weather sealing. |

Probably because its not a common focal length for APS-C camera.

QUOTE(Patent @ Jun 7 2013, 07:55 AM) it doesnt mean that it cant be used on APS-C.look at canikon, they have 85mm 1.8 and they are less than 500usd. pentax fa 85mm 1.4 is the only pentax 85 with AF that we have now.if pentax can have a pentax 85mm 1.8 which is less than 500usd that would be great. |

QUOTE(Patent @ Jun 6 2013, 02:55 PM) Pentax K-50 is coming? Didn't really like the design either. looks 'canonish'. much prefer K30 looks. But from the specs it does stated that it will be made from magnesium alloy so I think this is an attempt by pentax to reduce the shutter sound.Replacement for K-30 I guess ![]() http://www.pentaxforums.com/news/pentax-k-...-dslr.html#more |

QUOTE(craxors @ Jun 11 2013, 08:20 AM) I think maybe it not as silent as the K5 but perhaps it might be a lot quieter than the K30. U know la many times when read about K30 in the forums many complain about the shutter sound. |

U know la many times when read about K30 in the forums many complain about the shutter sound. I kinda like the shutter sound on the K-30. It makes it sound like a full frame. K-5 really too quiet. Haha..... |
