I think maybe it not as silent as the K5 but perhaps it might be a lot quieter than the K30. U know la many times when read about K30 in the forums many complain about the shutter sound. laugh.gif

I kinda like the shutter sound on the K-30. It makes it sound like a full frame. K-5 really too quiet. Haha..... nod.gif

You haven't heard the *istDS then. *kalonk* biggrin.gif When I tried the K-30 I thought... oh, how quiet. Of course then I tried the K-5 and thought... huh? Battery flat? When I took a group photo with the *istDS everyone knew when the photo was taken. With the K-5 no one notices. thumbup.gif I love how quiet it is.

Maybe the K-50 improves ergonomy? I thought the K-30, while great looking, may not be as ergonomic as I'd like it to be. My *istDS was nicer to hold. The K-5 is much better than the K-30, though it might not be as good as the *istDS.

Had an interior shoot today... and tried composition adjustment for the first time. My god is it awesome! rclxm9.gif I'm loving it. thumbup.gif Pretty useful.

Haha....

My good old K100D shutter sounds like closing a volvo 244 bonnet.

Felt like every time you press the shutter button, there is a massive accident inside the camera itself.

Yup. A bit too quiet for me. I prefer car with huge exhaust. But time will tell when you wish your shutter is as quiet as the K-5.

Muahaa....

Hm, as for image quality... I think we have reached a level where it is hard to wow anyone anymore. I've had the chance to play an hour or so with a Fuji X-Pro1 (couldn't go out to shoot, as it was in a shop...), and damn did I have a blast! That thing is just fun to use. The hybrid viewfinder, the way it feels, it clicks, the 35mm lens, ... the photos themselves are ok, I could have done the same with my K-5, and the AF is a bit too slow for street photography (which is where this camera would shine), and the focusing ring is electronic only, doesn't feel as connected and smooth as my manual lenses or even the DA 50 1.8, but... so much fun. I have never enjoyed a camera this much, not even my K-5. The camera felt very natural to me, even though I have never used it before (or even looked at it closely).

The Fuji rep was also very friendly and knowledgable (Funan Digital Mall in Singapore, they have all their higher end gear displayed there, can't purchase though).

So basically what I want to say is: Unless you are a pro and need to get perfect shots every time (and I've seen enough out of focus photos by pros that they still ended up using, so...) what matters more (to me) is enjoying the camera, and enabling you to get the shots you want without having to go through ridiculous hoops (some mirrorless cameras are especially cringeworthy in their effort to make them simple to use... making them ridiculously hard to use as soon as you want to have even a little control).

@flamephotography: Is it an upgrade over the K-5 in terms of image quality? Or a step down? I can't say that there is anything I'd complain over with the K-5, except for focusing accuracy with the 50mm.
*
Yes bro kadajawi.

For the hard wares and video features, is a major upgrade. But for the end result of the image quality, I still doubt. Things like the high ISO noise performance, the DR, the AF the metering system and the IQ. I still doubt.

The feel is there. A bit heavier maybe because of the lens. More buttons and looks more pro. The grip and the feel is very similar to the K-5.

Cheers bro....... icon_rolleyes.gif

Yup. It doesn't look promising even at 100%. The K5 IIs still looks sharper. Still waiting for Dpreview's test result with the actual camera with updated firmware.

Very disappointing sad.gif At least we have a reason for the video SR f*** up... though that reason is quite bad.

At this point Pentax is dead to me, long live Samsung. The NX-1 is pretty much everything I could ever dream of... and then some. Except for the lack of in body SR and GPS, but it's so close... sweat.gif
*
Yah. The underdog(Samsung) has really shine with the NX-1. Especially if it is cheaper than the GH4 then it will be something to really looking forward for especially the 4K video. The problem is lack of good lenses and professional support. The Canon 7d Mark II looks pretty promising too for speed shooters.

Is nice how Ricoh responded on #19.
As you indicated in previous interviews, are you still considering expanding the K-mount camera system to use sensors larger than APS-C?
This is a question that we cannot disclose, but as I said in the 645Z questions, we think that the 645Z is one of our answers toward the high-end of customers.the bigger than APS-C size sensor camera.

That should shut a lot of full frame hippy up. Now we can proudly tell others who ask us the same old question, Pentax got no full frame ah? You can proudly say, got, Pentax 645D and 645Z

Seem like the NX-1 is going to beat the D7100 and K-3 to the next Photokina or CP+ in terms or functions and specs. Image quality wise hmm.gif , lets wait and see.

Pentax K-S2 selling at RM 3k.. Not a bad price I guess hmm.gif

Seems like a direct competitor to the Nikon D5500. hmm.gif

Would anyone upgrade their current K-5, K-5 II/s or K-30 for this? Seems like with the non AA filter and the 20MP sensor, should be able to produce image better than the K-5 IIs in terms of resolution and K-3 in terms of high ISO noise performance.

But for me now, I would not be interested at current Pentax camera unless it has a 36MP non AA filter Full Frame sensor with SR or a cheap small mirror less M43 size sensor with selfie screen. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Cheers.......

The kit lens is kinda slow though.. starting at f/4.

I guess is just a minor sacrifice to make the lens more compact when not in use. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

But I guess it will be a nuisance when you have to always remember to unlock the lens first then only shoot. Not really sure about this. But I remember playing with a Nikon dunno what in Time Square and I can't figure out how to unlock the lens and I came to a conclusion that, oh well, is spoiled and put it back. Maybe I am just too dumb... Haha.... laugh.gif laugh.gif

Maybe in future you will have bunch of these lens for sale when people starts to sell it and get the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 instead.

Dont think so. Would rather get the K3. Am used to the handling of the K5.
*
Absolutely. The first thing for sure a person will notice is the toughness and solidness of a K-7, K-5/II/s and K-3 body. The KS-2 just felt like a plastic but maybe slightly better compare to Canikony;s entry level camera that does some other things better like touchscreen and better video capabilities. But some might find the KS-2 special tho......

Hi bro Icehart.

Not really sure about that. And I really doubt it will be out anywhere near end of this year. Even if they do, will really need to see how good are the specs. By that time, a Nikon D800e or even a D810 should be in a very good price. Not sure. Lets see........ nod.gif nod.gif

What about you? icon_rolleyes.gif

but k3 still pawned them in image quality.  hmm.gif

Hi bro craxors

I am not too sure about that. I hope someone could really do a real test and confirm it. But I guess in studio situation with lowest base ISO, I guess the D800e or the D810 would beat the K-3. In high ISO, not sure. But from the naked eyes, at high ISO like 3200 or so, I am so sorry to say that even a D610 is sharpen.

I don't know why, but somehow I still think the 16MP sensor from the K-5IIs is still a bit more refine than the K-3. But as far as low light AF without the AF assist light is concern, the K-3 beats the D610 and possibly the D800 hands down. More hard working and more precise. While the D610 simply gives up. With AF lights, different story. Kudos to the Pentax K-3...... icon_rolleyes.gif
