Hi SAMPERTH,

The male is about 6 inches (15cm) and female is about slightly over 5 inches (12.8cm). Length is not the only difference. The width is very obvious as well.

I will post up the latest pic of them side by side later when I am back home.

I am not 100% sure, just based on what I read online and by the seller.

Attached is the pic I took on July 2012.

Cheers..  rclxms.gif

If your sexing of them is correct , maybe i know the reason !!

Did the male hump the female ? Raming her to a corner all the time ?
A newer picture will be best - focus on the lower half of the bottom ( tail , hind limbs with claws )

Cheers

How do humping & raming cause one to be smaller in size? The male will only push the female away during feeding time.

I have attached the only suspected humping pic I have (took by my gf).

Due to the obvious size difference, I always let the female eat first for about 10 minutes before I entice the male to eat. It is easy to do so as the male is much shy as compared to the female who will always crawl to the food first.. biggrin.gif

I will show the latest pic tonight.

Tq for your advice, SAMPERTH.. notworthy.gif

Ok here's why
At 6" ( if he is really a male ) he is more than ready to mate - if he is a sex addict he will try mate non-stop !!

And if your female is really a girl or even otherwise ( girl at 5" is not quite ready ) being chased , rammed n humped , stress will come to be - stressed one will grow slower or not at all and ...... Sickness in the end !!
Before anything , let's try to sex them properly first !!
Cheers

Mostly likely turtle - malayan box ( try search net for picture )

Most local species will eat banana and papaya , kang kong for green !! Depending on species will need some meat or seafood to do well !!!

Thanks for the pictures - i am 100% your big one is a girl and is almost ready for breeding ( usually first start to drop egg 7-8" )

While the smaller one which looks like a girl COULD be Male ( longer tail - boy like ) !! The plastron opening where the tail is has lost its ( inverted V ) BUT the plastron is quite flat( girl like ) ??? So i only dare sex it 60 % boy - do monitor its behaviour over the next couple of months ( if it is a boy he will or should have start ramming the girl )

In indian star tortoise world girl (10-13" or more ) will grow up bigger than Boy ( 8-9" max )

Cheers

OMG!!! Are you sure? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

All along I thought it was the opposite because:

1) That was what the seller and the vet (from zoo negara) told me;

2) Plus from the pic whereby the bigger star seemed to be raming the smaller star as well??? I attached the pic in the earlier post;

3) The anal scutes of the bigger star is a sharp v shape;

4) The bigger star has concave plastrons

On 27th July 2012, their length is 13.5cm vs 11.8 cm

On 06th March 2013, their length is 15cm vs 12.2cm

I attached another pic so that u can see the tail of the smaller star clearer.

From this pic the long claw may say its a her instead !!

So pic is hard to say , i need to hold it feel it to be 100% sure !!

You did mention the plastron a bit concave - thats not the best way to sex ( if kept incorrectly some male can have flat plastron or female can also have slight concave )

Cheers

Now I am more rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

So now u r saying the smaller star is female as well? Compare to the bigger star, this smaller star has a thick tail.

How can I be 100% sure?

Sorry to bother you again.. blush.gif
