if you've PP2000, you can technically clear any fault codes recorded. However, I'll not dare to mod mine until 5 years is over.
*
I don't know the details of this software installed. The fault logs I've worked with have non erasable memories. For maintenance review purpose we can always callup reports. The erase feature is just to get rid of the on screen message. Complete clean wipe is only possible with unit on workshop test bench. I won't be surprised if Peugeot has done this to scrutinize warranty claims.

As you said 5 year warranty is too much to loose!

Dear All 408 NA owners,

I am about to renew insurance for my 408 NA for the second year this September.
What shall be the sum insured value ? AIG quotes me RM106K.

Thanks.
*
That's too high for NA.Thats like 3K depreciation for a year, no car in the world has such low depreciation, not even the best Jap car. I'd say 95K - 100K.

You have your own choice to drive fast or slow, once you die crashing, that's your own business. Don't ask people to drive according to your very own safety style, that's funny.

If everyone to drive slow, better drive kancil.

What for buy Ferrari, put at home

I've been using 3 different brands of oil for servicing. Based on my psychological feel, the AMSOil is the best. I felt the engine is smoother. The other two oils that I'd used were Total Quartz INEO and Petronas Syntium.

** AMSOil is not available at any Peugeot SC. I bought it outside and bring it for servicing.
*
I've found AMSOIL to be very good. Used it on my E46 previously. Smooth engine and good FC. Sadly can't use it on my Pug due to warranty. Will get back to AMSOIL later! biggrin.gif

Hi Guys,

Is this a good choice to own 408? Which is better? 2.0 or turbo?
*
2Liter NA is a spacious and comfortable car. The turbo has better handling and performance. At the same time, it is also a bit more expensive to service. The difference is not going to tear a hole in your pocket! If you don't mind the extra bit,get the turbo, you'll thoroughly enjoy driving this car.

Word of caution! Turbo's daaaaamn addictive, once you taste this poison, no turning back.....hehehe! biggrin.gif

Tks buddy. Good to see Peugeot coming up with new ideas to lift themselves. At the moment Peugeot appear to in bad shape in Europe. Hope it turns better for them in the future.

Turbo - powerful and better handling. If you need to acceleration this one. With the power and six gearbox, accelerating from 120 - 180km/hr seems effortless on North South highway
*
I've actually taken mine up to 200kmh effortlessly on LEKAS! It was a progressive rise all the way. They was more juice on the tap,I hadn't flat footed. However as I was fast approaching slow moving vehicles, had to lift my elephant foot.

Just an occasional adrenal rush madness. Not my usual speed as our roads are not safe for those speeds! I hope our safety champions don't jump on me for saying this. biggrin.gif

My max speed so far only 170kph, for few seconds

The car is definitely capable to go beyond and effortlessly. I feel our roads are not built or safe enough for those speeds. I actually prefer the twisty roads, this is where the handling of this car is at another level! flex.gif

Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. Is the 408 trubo having any trouble? How is the SC? I have bad after sales service experience with Naza. Wonder to risk to try peugeot again on Naza after sales services...
*
I think you know better about Naza after sales service than me cos i've only owned my Pug for slightly over a year now. Improvements are being made at the same time there's room for more!

My car has been good,so I've only done regular service with Naza and that's not a problem at all. Most of the complaints from our friends is waiting period for spares. This is not entirely Naza's fault,Peugeot France is to be equally blamed. My experience in dealing with the Airbus for spare parts has been extremely stressful.

As for the car,it's a joy for me. No turbo issues. If not mistaken, only one member registered here out of the 90 had turbo problem. Warranty took care of it,and he's happy with his car. You might like to know the turbo on the 408 has been redeveloped. All issues on the older turbo have been sorted out. In fact this engine carries 8 mods, making this the most reliable Prince engine! biggrin.gif

Reading through the thread, you'll find there has been a small amount of issues. All have been sorted out. That is a great relief and worth buying this car!

I had the same issue with my THP yesterday night and this morning. The temperature fluctuates a few times but after a while of driving, the temperature stables back at 90. Got me worried when it started to fluctuate.  sweat.gif

Do you think i should send for checking?
*
I wouldn't drive my car with a faulty thermostat. Have your car checked asap! Infact I would rather park the car if have to wait for the spare!

Just called Kota Damansara SC. Earliest is next tuesday. Hopefully can last till then  sweat.gif
Got no spare car! May car-god bless me  biggrin.gif

I would be very careful and watch the temperature gauge. Never let the engine overheat! Once you've cooked this engine,it's very difficult to get back to normal condition. No matter how much repair,it may never be the same! It's very sensitive and a overheated block just does not behave normal.

Thanks for your info. Really appreciate it.

I've just drop off my car at SC for them to check. Didnt want to take the risk of driving it.
But because of walk-in,  my car have to wait either till this evening or tomorrow morning to check.

Hopefully they can resolve this quickly or i'll be a sitting duck without my legs (ride)  laugh.gif
*
You are most welcome bro. I know you bought the car just a few months back and didn't want you to face all the mess if you ignore the problem which is actually small. But it's got the potential to turn into something serious if ignored. Hope it's a quick fix. Good luck!

Will have my ride back again!  thumbup.gif

I guess it's a faulty batch. Glad you'll have your ride back soon.

I'm also glad it was a quick diagnosis and fix. It shows efforts are made to improve customer support and service. Efforts like these will certainly improve RV of Pugs. Just recently a potential owner was wondering if he should buy the Pug. He likes the Pug but previously has bad taste of Naza service.

I hope we continue to see the improvement trend!

I have to say Kota Damansara Service Centre did a great job!

Hi,

i got my 408T for just 3 days now. Total 150km, FC like 13.5L/100km, average 21km/h. Most of the time stuck in jam. Is the FC too high?

thanks.
*
Your engine is still very new. After the 10K service, will settle around 9L/100km urban driving, 10L/100km city driving. Anything better or worse depends on how heavy or light your foot is! tongue.gif

Thanks for the feedback. 10k is a long way to go.....anyway, I am trying to gauge if other owners have the same FC. for the first few thousand KM. The driving condition should be quite similar for many people, morning and evening going through KL jam to work and back. I guess 70% of the time we can't really step on it, as the distance to the car in front during jam doesn't allow that. Usually I feel that the engine drags 1st and 2nd gears longer, then brake. Then the the same cycle again.
*
Yup,you got it. Exactly the same! I actually saw my FC improve after 3K km,engine got smoother after 5K km.
