I dunno, was'nt laughing usually associates with belly-holding and thumb down or index finger pointing ?
Smiling and holding their hands up with the thumbs sticking upward must be good, right? i dunno, you tell me cool2.gif

Good news!!! I managed to claim a new car battery, Delkor DIN 60, 2 days ago during 20K service. The Yokohama battery reading was weak. The Delkor costs Rm455 per unit. Lucky me... phew~~~~  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

careline is another way you can email and call in ( i have done both) rather then talking to those kayu only. I know from experience, ultimately the careline team will call u back /.email you back asking you to make warranty claim back at the service centre but the SC will be kind of directed /instructed by the careline team to look into your case. The SC will be writing and filling in forms for you for warranty claim. I guess that is why they will never volunteer or suggest to you to make claim. (REASON :MORE WORK FOR THEM)

that makes our pug 408 very interesting, it is made by Dongfeng China , which was reported that
''Exploratory discussions (of PSA) about selling a 30 percent stake to a consortium led by Dongfeng Motor Group were inconclusive, the sources said, ''according to this report.

Opel Germany is owned by GM, AND under the earlier alliance of Peugeot & GM , it is supposedly that....well read it your self:

''Future small cars like the Opel Corsa and Peugeot equivalents — the 208 and Citroen C3 — will be based on an architecture jointly developed from the French carmaker’s existing technology.

Architectures are the underlying structures and sets of components on which whole range of vehicles can be based.

Future replacements for the Opel Zafira and Peugeot 3008 minivans will share the “EMP2” platform about to go into production in the form of Citroen’s C4 Picasso people-mover.

The alliance chose Peugeot underpinnings for the new cars because they were better suited to the European market, both executives said.

In the Opel Zafira category, GM’s Girsky added, “we didn’t have enough volume to justify doing it on our own.”

THAT WAS THE PLAN THEN till 2016. but NOW THAT THIS HAS COME OUT.....what then?

FYI, OPEL is big in Europe, Brazil & CHINA, see:

Germany (Europe Market No. 1; world no. 5 largest car market) Full Year 2012 – brands:
Attached Image

Corsa (slated to share platform with pug 208) in particular sold 55,747 units out of that 213,627 all Opel models

in Brazil (World car market no. 4) & China (world car market No. 1) , many Opel models was rebadged as Chevrolet (both under GM)

Opel (ok known there as Chevrolet) Corsa (both Hatch and Sedan) sold 125,000 units in 2012 in Brazil. In China, Chevrolet Sail (based on Opel Corsa B) sold 280,000 units

What does all this mean? the pug 208 could be a predecessor to a very interesting OPEL corsa

FYI, Naza is currently also distributing GM cars (chevrolet mostly ex Daewoo models) under Naza Quest and was talking about assembling them here.

IF the line of the German OPEL and The French Peugeot is further blurred by this new development, our car can become a rarity/collector item IF it ends up becoming the only Dongfeng -Peugeot model available in the whole SEA :hehehe: brows.gif brows.gif

GM was in control of SAAB before. That was when I was still with SAAB/Porsche Malaysia. This is the modus operandi. They took technology from SAAB (which they owned then), shared with the other brands in their stable, while at the same time starving SAAB of development money. When it came to the time to let SAAB go because it was simply too low on funds, they made sure that the company did not go to a company that had the funds to rejuvenate the brand. At least not for the next 10 years. Why? To protect Opel. Less one competitor is always better. Opel is doing badly as well but it has a longer history with GM and produces cars that were slightly less off-beat compared to SAAB. This means easier to market products... then. But even so, the domestic market in Germany fell. VW went great guns etc. There was simply no room for Opel to manoeuvre and they need a fix fast - technologies, expertise that they can buy up on the cheap. well, cheaper is always better. So, GM is probably thinking now, let's do the same with Peugeot. The connection with the Germany is this, BMW designs and Peugeot builds the engines. Then the engines are equally shared. The benefit to GM here is, they will have a stronger network, at least in France where Opel will be able to penetrate deeper. Plus, technology that indirectly came from BMW. This technology buy over and immediate network expansion is of course to be shared between its stable of brands. Once they have had enough of raiding the company and what's left of it, there is a high chance they will let PSA go... to the weakest bidder. Simply because PSA must not come back one day to be a threat to them. Peugeot did offer DongFeng to buy into the company but the Chinese company is holding back. Simple really, to drive PSA into a more desperate situation. Likewise GM. Waiting like vultures, who will not take anything as long as there is still life to fight in PSA. Once half dead, then GM will probably offer peanuts to buy it over. if GM takes over, they have access to DongFeng's plants and network in China. They already have a strong Buick business there but it will be much better to expand when the sun shines. So, it doesn't really look good to me considering the factors that surround the whole situation. I guess this is just my 2 cent's worth on the issue after seeing what they did to SAAB a short while back. In fact, the lawsuits are still not over between GM and SAAB. But it will probably be a long drawn affair before there is any decision.

Thank you very much. This is great insight.

American companies are like that , e.g. Ford with once owned Volvo that was later sold to Geely china. But if Peugeot really have to go, then it had better end up how Fiat is in USA but that is a different who's the boss story.

I think American could use a bit of long gone French cars experience and it should sell great in Canada being French most there.

Peugeot may not end up like Saab, I think it will be more of a mini , jaguar , landrover, even Porsche kind of tradition kept story, well I should hope so

well, hopefully they have an arrangement like fiat/chrysler to push peugeot in the states. then with bigger economies of scale they can really lower costs like what VW and other european brands are doing. Peugeot imho, it too euro centric. their current push into asean and just announced, china may be a little late considering that the VW group has been there for ages. even ford has a strong presence in china as i saw a lot more focus than 408 in beijing recently.

i also agree with you on canada. weird isn't it? predominantly french but no peugeot. even my relatives staying there say it is strange that there is no peugeot in canada.

but the fear is always there that there will one day be just raided for tech and left for dead.

YUP, too euro centric, coming in too late in China, and only recent pushing in SEA PLUS

Ignoring(?) re-entry into USA & North America too, now they have to pay the price.

Some one in Peugeot ought to know if you want to sustain, you must make your cars available in all the top 5 world car markets (China, USA, Japan, Brazil & Germany) and do it SOON , not later!

without any presence still in USA & Japan (no. 2 & 3) is as dumb as any one can get. Even VW n able to sell some cars in JAPAN (the most chauvinist kind of car buyer in the globe!)

Just look at how Italian Fiat remain in top 10 car makers while the French (renault too) has dropped out from top 10

sigh.....

just realize that THIS CAR CLUB thread is the most replied with 4,6xx and counting (out paced every other car club thread)

Even the view count is an astounding 176,8XX. the only other car club threads that are generating more views belongs K5 at 193,9XX and Kia Sportage 280,XXX.

Naza should be very happy.

China’s Dongfeng buying into PSA Peugeot Citroen?

rclxms.gif rclxms.gif if Dongfeng clinched the deal instead of GM, our pug will be well supported, Chinese car makers have been eyeing and making plans to come in to make Malaysia the RHD builders for APAC markets.

Many Chinese car makers have already made plans and making it work, so Dong feng may just join the same wave....

Just sharing...done 20k service at Chan Sow Lin -Sing Huat Premium for my 2.0 NA

Cost RM378.95

Attached Image

There is a 50% discount on my 1 and a half hour labour charge (1.5 hour X RM90/hour , which was supposed to be RM135 but were charged half at RM67.50 instead).

This is due to incident of battery went dead 2 weeks after 10,000 km service, and was replaced with new Delkor battery and complaint to Service manager who agreed to give me 50% discount on labour cost on my next service

If not because of this it would have been a RM468.94 bill

They have also taken pictures of my whitish mold-like substance that has been recurring despite wiping off at the central opining on my front dashboard. Picture to be submitted to Nasim to claim warranty parts replacement.
