Trivia
Pub-quiz question: what's the connection between Peugeot and the Statue of Liberty?

One of the earliest Peugeot models was known as a Lion-Peugeot, which adopted the lion emblem of the city of Belfort, where it was made. Bartholdi, the sculptor responsible for the Statue of Liberty in New York, also takes credit for Belfort's Inn.

Hi fellow Pug 408 owners, beside the national made, the market have the Japanese brands, Korean, German, French, American. Are you ready for Brits brand MG coming to Malaysia especailly the same C segment model MG6.

I know it is off topic so forgive me if it intrudes. then we can talk it over at the dedicated thread for that

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2771970

Sorry again if it intrudes notworthy.gif

Initially supplier deal is min 30 units only he will start the mould for us but now after some discussion hes willing to start at 20, unfortunately we cant hit that number after some time.. so now he is discussing with his partner see if they can absorb less than 20

Im just sharing a nice item to have in our prince, no obligation; buy because you need not because you feel obliged or anything ya; the price will be 270 and again I would like to disclaim im not earning single cents from this effort

Any 2.0 owners care to share their experiences with the 2.0 handling?

During my short test drive, the 2.0 has a softer and comfortable ride and steering is very light.
On the Turbo, obviously the power is there, ride a bit tough (not much to my liking), but i like the somehow "fatter' steering. Nice to hold and grip on it.
*
Hi there, I own a 2.0 but there is not a day go by that I don't wonder how different it is going to be if i am driving a 1.6 turbo instead, honestly speaking.

But don't take this as 2.0 is a let down. It may not have the kind of rev of a turbo and responsiveness of a 6 speeder gb, but it is is very comfortable. so comfortable that and you tends not to feel the 'sportiness' of the car. Hell the handling makes me feel more uncle-like if truth to be told, but I don't mind coz I am an uncle by age, i am in my early 40.

It is a good alternative to any D segment 2.0 I will say that as much, I have been into Camry, accord, Teana, and the 2.0 drives a bit like that just the shorter nose allows you to make corners with lesser strains . Even if you want to leave segment Ds and just compare with other segment Cs, from NA to NA (2.0), 408 2.0 gives you the most comfortable ,and tuned to the most powerful setup , the performance is only dampened somewhat by the 4 speeder gb but that is ok 2 as most rivaling models offer a 4 or 5 speeder or CVT.

At the end of the day, it is really up to the individual , are you the type that stay forever young (in hearts and in spirit coz don't judge a book by any covers) , if so get a 1.6 Turbo.

or if you are like me, comfortable with real age, accepted the maturity that comes with age, and would like to take what people call 'calculated' risk. then get 2.0?absolutely !

if i can do it again i would probably tender for number like 1371, 2280, 4008 if you can't get 408, why?

1371 first 2 digits adds up is 1+3=4, 2nd and 3rd digits adds up is 3+7 =to 0, and 7+1 is 8, so it is 408

like wise for 2280, 4008 if you apply the same logic

just my sudden funny thought that comes out , inspired by SKY

The number 408 so laku meh?  I got mine easily, without paying extra for tender.
*
if i read this correctly, then you are showing off ? icon_idea.gif

I have paid RM300 last Aug/Sep 2012 (inclusive 'runner fee' to my SA) for my current number which is a number with absolutely no significance.

408 hot number, I would think so least for all 408 owners.

May I ask if any one is having 408 as car plate no.? & Mind sharing what you have paid for it and at which JPJ?

Not show off la, just wonder only. As I think Peugeot is not a hot car, at least not that hot as T and H. So might have a thought that 408 not that "laku ".

My plate is 408, I only pay Rm250 for choosing this number. My SA is kind enough not earning the runner fee
*
RM250? that is a great price, IMHO, for number 408. I don't know, Always have the impression that it will be at least fought over by some 408 owners to be. I can be wrong though.

I have been driving my Peug 408 2.0 for a month now.
The FC is 12 litre/100km. Is it normal? or too high?
I just called my SC, she told me some have it in 8 litre/100km.
I wonder why mine is so high?.... :/
*
it will improve once the 1st 10,000km service is done, i had experienced the same high FC before the 10,000 service with my Pug 408 2.0.

Bro EA, hope it will improve after my 10K service.. Seems that my 2.0 eat petrol a lot.. drive grandfather style some more..  doh.gif
*
I can only speak of my experience. before 10k km service, I need to refill almost 2.5 to 3 times a week , no joke (at 20-25% fuel level remaining every time, my habit)

I have to succumbed to driving uncle slow-mo style at 90% of the time as I worked in the KL City Centre and stayed at Dutamas near Segambut area (both ways to and fo to work are jammed mostly. So my lion is 90% of the time crawling due to traffic jam from Monday to Friday.

Roughly my Monday to Friday is only clocking in about 150 km per week for travelling to and Fo between workplace and home, then there is the evening driving and weekend driving, at most another 100km and since I also travel out of office once to twice weekly to visit clients in other parts of Klang valley, that will add another 100km to 150 km +or- a week (AGAIN, DRIVING UNCLE STYLE st 30% of the time TO GET IN & OUT OF KL CITY+HIGHWAY Style 70%)

In total my km per a typical week, is then 350km to 400 km.

To avoid confusion , i have not included in the calculation the outstation travel to Johor-Malacca and Ipoh-Penang (for work) that happens at most once every alternate months. For me, those kind of travelling is separately accounted as they are of 'ad hoc' basis.

After 10k km service, in a typical week described above, with the same distance and driving style, now I only visit the petrol station only 2 times a week (the same refill when it reach 20-25% remaining level). So FC has indeed improved, but the actual 'x' L/100km for me is always high due the kind of driving constraints that my pug needs to put up with.

10K: <Rm350 (free labor)
20K: <Rm500 (include labor)
30K: <Rm500 (include labor)
40K: <Rm900
50K: <Rm900
60K: <Rm2,000 (mostly is due to the gear box oil which cost around Rm1,400)
*
For most, I think we can verified that the 1st 10k km actual cost is as stated the above, with 2.0 slightly cheaper, my 2.0 1st 10k km service was only RM300.xx. By now some early owners have oredi done the 20k km service, was the cost <500? for 1.6 T

Any 2.0 owners having done 20k km service or beyond, and if so, mind sharing what is the cost?

The service cost for 20K should be the same as the 10K, with a top up of labor charge. Applied to both Turbo and NA

I need one more to go, just in case if new owner not aware of this.. im starting a group buy of a customised sunshade for our 408, for all 4windows only. It willifit nicely to the frame of your door window. More photos can be viewed in groovy sunshade or circus sunshade in fb or google image.  Price we are lookin at is 270 but theres a chance where supplier may throw in more discount for us the first batch owner  thumbup.gif

Btw for those who have their name in the list, info from supplier is we have to make payment of 50% and they will send ppl here to take measurement before manufacturing it (2-3months), all agreeable?  Please feel free to voice out if youre nt comfortable with this arrangement, otherwise no pull out after deposit is made ya  icon_rolleyes.gif

If u need reach me urgently, feel free to whatsapp me at 0162296137, I may not get access to proper dataline these few days
*
So Folks !
Without knowing who and how reputable the supplier is, we are asked to take another leap of faith (by placing RM135 first).

But I think this, Rich. If I turned out a sucker/turkey to put my faith in you and whoever the supplier is, I will be in a gang of suckers/turkeys of the brave 19 (see if can become 20, any more BRAVE SOULS here?), so with that in mind, just pm me your account number , bank , in name of Richard LIm XX, when you need it.

p/s i CAN LOOSE MORE THAN RM135 in minutes, when I visit the other LIM, the Famous Uncle Lim laugh.gif

Im one of the fool in that list too, if I dont earn your trust enough you can always bank in  into the supplier account, which he doesnt agree since it will only confuse him.
Expected this to happen when I initiate the group buy, otherwise we can just call it off and I dont mind loosing the time and effort in compiling the list for benefits of interested owners, whoever wish to pull out please let pm me and your name will not be disclosed.  Tq
